- The Swedish preschool curriculum (Lpfö 98) brings forward both the individual child's development, and the ability to show solidarity towards other children. The meaning of these goals is handled over to the teachers themselves to interpret. By describing two different situations, in which teachers mediate and shape individualism and / or solidarity, the purpose in this chapter is to show what problems teachers have to deal with when anchoring these goals. The results show that individualism and solidarity are mutually dependent on each other. It also shows that the teachers are reflecting a lot about their own actions asking themselves if they are doing right or wrong. They also reflect on other solutions and the consequences of these.
