(author) Phylogeny of Syllidae (Polychaeta) based on combined molecular analysis of nuclear and mitochondrial genes 2007 In: Cladistics. - : Wiley. - 0748-3007 .- 1096-0031. ; 23:6, s. 552-564 Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract The phylogeny of Syllidae is assessed in a combined analysis of molecular data from nuclear 18S rDNA and mitochondrial 16S rDNA and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I. In total, 103 terminal taxa are examined: 88 syllids in the four classical subfamilies Eusyllinae, Exogoninae, Syllinae and Autolytinae, as well as 15 outgroup taxa from Phyllodocida and Eunicida. Maximum parsimony analysis of the combined data set indicates that Syllidae, as currently delineated, is monophyletic, though not with very high support values. Astreptosyllis Kudenov & Dorsey, 1982, Streptosyllis Webster & Benedict, 1884 and SyllidesÖrsted, 1845 comprise a monophyletic group well differentiated from the rest of the Syllidae. The subfamilies Autolytinae and Syllinae are monophyletic. Exogoninae is monophyletic, although not well supported, and Eusyllinae is clearly paraphyletic. Results corroborate previous studies about the evolution of reproductive modes in that epigamy is the plesiomorphic condition and schizogamy appeared independently in Autolytinae and Syllinae.

(author) Physician patient questionnaire to assess physician patient agreement at the consultation. 2007 In: Family practice. ; 24:5, s. 498-503 Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract OBJECTIVE: The primary aim of this study was to validate an instrument of physician-patient agreement in the consultation. A secondary aim was to assess this agreement. METHOD: The setting was a county in the southwest of Sweden with a cross-sectional survey of primary care patients and physicians using separate coded questionnaires. Forty-six physicians and 316 patients aged 16 or more with a new complaint lasting 1 week or more. Thirteen items were evaluated and index of proportional agreement for the dichotomized answers agree (P(pos)) and disagree (P(neg)) was calculated. RESULTS: In 10 of the 13 items, a high level of agreement between physician and patient was seen. Discussion. Index of proportional agreement was useful in finding statements in a questionnaire on agreement for both physicians and patients that could be used for educational purposes and as a check-up for the GP in daily practice.
59.	Ahlerup, Pelle, 1977, et al. (author) Social Capital vs Institutions in the Growth Process 2007 Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract Is social capital always important for economic growth? A number of recent micro studies suggest that interpersonal trust and social capital will have its greatest impact on economic performance when court institutions are relatively weak. The conventional wisdom from macro studies, however, is that social capital is unconditionally good for growth. On the basis of the micro evidence, we outline an investment game between a producer and a lender in an incomplete-contracts setting. A key insight is that social capital will have the greatest e¤ect on the total surplus from the game at lower levels of institutional strength and that the effect of social capital vanishes when institutions are very strong. When we bring this prediction to an empirical cross-country growth regression, it is shown that the marginal e¤ect of social capital (in the form of inter- personal trust) decreases with institutional strength. Our results imply that a one standard deviation rise in social capital in weakly institutionalized Nigeria should increase economic growth by 1.8 percentage points, whereas the same increase in social capital only increases growth by 0.3 percentage points in strongly institutionalized Canada.

(author) The Roots of Ethnic Diversity 2007 Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract The level of ethnic diversity is believed to have significant consequences for economic and political development within countries. In this article, we provide a theoretical and empirical analysis of the determinants of ethnic diversity in the world. We introduce a model of cultural and genetic drift where new ethnic groups endogenously emerge among peripheral populations as a response to an insufficient supply of public goods. In line with our model, we find that the duration of human settlements has a strong positive association with ethnic diversity. Ethnic diversity decreases with the length of modern state experience and with distance from the equator. Both "primordial" and "constructivist" hypotheses of ethnic fractionalization thus receive some support by our analysis.
