Forskningsanknuten NO från förskola till lärarutbildning

- Under läsåret 2011/12 har stora delar av det lärarlag som undervisar i naturvetenskap och lärande vid Malmö högskola deltagit i en forskningscirkel kring forskningsanknytning av förskollärar- och grundlärarutbildningarna. Vi har diskuterat vad forskningsanknytning kan innebära och också den senaste (främst svenska) forskningen kring barn och naturvetenskap. Vidare har cirkeldeltagarna (3 adjunkter och 5 lektorer) skrivit vars sitt kapitel i boken Naturvetenskap och yngre barn – om att forskningsanknyta utbildning för förskollärare och grundlärare (2012, Malin Ideland & Claes Malmberg, redaktörer; boken kommer att publiceras både on-line och i pappersform under hösten). Vi tre har bidragit med följande kapitel (i författarordning): * Naturvetenskap och miljö i förskolan * Barn och kemi – vad säger den kemididaktiska forskningen? * Hur kunskap växer fram inom naturvetenskapen Boken består alltså både av kapitel kring naturvetenskapens didaktik på vetenskaplig grund och kapitel kring hur forskningens kunskapsproduktion går till. Och vi tre har alltså fördjupat oss i förskoledidaktik, skolämnet kemi åren 1-6 respektive vetenskapsteori. Utifrån detta och också forskningscirkelns övriga arbete tänker vi oss ett rundabordssamtal kring forskningsanknuten NO från förskola till lärarutbildning: Vad menas med forskningsankytning? Och hur kan den stärkas i utbildningarna till förskollärare respektive grundlärare? Vi har tänkt oss att samtalstimmen ska börja med en ”brainstorming” kring vad deltagarna associerar med forskningsanknytning. Därefter kommer vi att göra mycket korta presentationer av dels bokens innehåll, dels innehållet i våra respektive kapitel. Efter det följer själva rundabordssamtalet på temat forskningsanknuten NO från förskola till lärarutbildning. Vårt syfte är att deltagarna efter samtalet tar med sig tankar och idéer om hur forskningsanknytning kan bli ett naturligt inslag i utbildning på alla nivåer.

- This case report covers a patient presenting unconscious to the emergency department with a serum glucose level of 125.6 mmol/L and an associated hyperglycemia-induced hyponatremia with a sodium level of 101 mmol/L. The glucose level is, to our knowledge, one of the most extreme values described in medical literature. Glucose and sodium levels were normalized following treatment with intravenous fluids, mainly Ringer's lactate solution and insulin infusion with an initial rate of 0,5 IU/kg/h. The patient needed ten days of hospital care, including five days at the intensive care unit. Shortly after discharge the patient had a complete recovery. However, the extreme values led to difficulties regarding correction rates, choice of treatment and monitoring, which is further discussed in the article.

Förväntningar på en flerdimensionell styrmodell : införandet av balanserad styrning inom en kommunal nämnd/förvaltning

- Huvudsyftet med studien var att beskriva och jämföra aktörers förväntningar på en flerdimensionell styrmodell som införs inom en kommunal nämnd/förvaltning. I studien intervjuades två politiker, fem tjänstemän och fyra verksamhetsnära personer. Två forskningsfrågor ställdes: (1) Vilka förväntningar har aktörer på en flerdimensionell styrmodell som införs inom en kommunal nämnd/förvaltning? (2) Vilka skillnader och likheter föreligger mellan olika aktörsgrupper med hänsyn till deras förväntningar på en flerdimensionell styrmodell som införs inom en kommunal nämnd/förvaltning? De tre aktörsgrupper som användes i studien var "politiker", "tjänstemän" och "verksamhetsnära personer". För att besvara forskningsfrågorna gjordes tolkningar, analyser och jämförelser mellan aktörernas och aktörsgruppernas förväntningar på tillämpningen av den flerdimensionella styrmodellen, förväntningar på effekter av att tillämpa den flerdimensionella styrmodellen samt övriga förväntningar på den flerdimensionella styrmodellen.

- Change Strategies in Primary School - a leader perspective This thesis focuses on change strategies in the Swedish primary school. The schoolleaders have a new situation and role as change agents since the school was brought under local government control with among others the reguirement to be responsible for the local process of development in school. Further studies have the main focus on schoolleaders´ work situation and role, however not on how schoolleaders handle change processes. There are many studies from other organizations that show how important it is that the staff take part in local change processes. In the decentralized school it is of great interest to have an elucidation of different change strategies and how the schoolleaders´ way to act have effects on the participation of the staff. Empirical data have been collected in case studies. This thesis is a separate part of a more comprehensive research project in Swedish schools, called "The School in change". That project focuses on environmental work in the work organization and includes twelve schools. Theese schools were chosen depending on their geografical situation and from the point that both the leader and the staff had a clear wish for active work with their working environment, by starting local development projects. Of these schools, I chose three that I wanted to study in another point of view. The research purposes were to describe and understand how schoolleaders, in this case principals, at the primary school work with change strategies. To reach my aim, I chose to study the change strategies of the principals from an actor´s point of view. Semi-structured interviews were conducted at three times and to complete the picture from the answers, I used the observation method. Some data from a staff investigation in the main project "The School in change" has been used in this study, with a view to making the results clear and better understanding them. The main results from this study are that I am able to identify two different change strategies, related to the schoolleaders´ way of working with local development in the school organization. One of the schoolleaders has a stationary strategy and two schoolleaders have mobile strategies. They are different in the way that the stationary schoolleader and one of the mobile leaders show a clear own change strategy of their own, while one schoolleader has an imitated strategy. The results also show that the leader with her own and stationary strategy, has a growing part of participating staff in ordinary work organization as in local development work. Another result is that in the schools with the mobile leaders the participation decreases. It makes no difference if the leader has her own or an imitated strategy for change and development of the school. Different kinds of theory have been used to interpret the results. Two aspects have been found important to be able to understand how the leaders of the school act with change strategies. These aspects are the work with the local development and the role and situation of leadership in school.

Kinematics and fixation of total knee arthroplasties : a clinical, radiographic, scintimetric, and roentgen stereophotogrammetric evaluation

- Aseptic loosening of the tibial component is an important cause of failure after total knee arthroplasty. Bone destruction often claimed to be caused by the cement makes the revision difficult. In order to treat younger patients, uncemented fixation has been introduced, but the etiology to loosening is multifactorial and only partly known. Early detection of implant migration facilitates research in this field but is difficult using conventional techniques. In this study modified versions of roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis (RSA) were developed to obtain accurate and standardized evaluations facilitating comparison between prosthetic designs. The method was used to record the efficacy of cemented and uncemented fixation of different designs of the tibial component, to determine the accuracy of scintimetry in the detection of early aseptic loosening, and to analyse the in vivo kinematics of knee arthroplasties with different design and stability between the joint surfaces.Forty-three arthroplasties with comparatively high inherent stability of the joint surfaces were randomized to cemented or uncemented fixation of the tibial component. In all groups micromovements were rather large, but with no differences between the cemented and uncemented components. The preoperative diagnosis (arthrosis OA, n=25; rheumatoid arthritis RA, n=18) did not influence the magnitude of micromotion.20 arthroplasties with the same design as above but equipped with an intramedullary stem, were randomized to cemented or uncemented fixation in patients with RA. Cement improved the fixation. Uncemented stemmed components displayed micromovements seemingly larger than unstemmed ones.34 arthroplasties with an unconstrained design of the joint area and fixed to the tibia with four pegs were randomized to cemented or uncemented fixation in patients with OA. When used uncemented 4 screws were added. Compared with previously investigated designs small micromotions were recorded, and especially in the cemented cases. Uncemented components with thin polyethylene inserts displayed larger initial micromotions. The preoperative deformity influenced the direction of the micromotion.33 knees were followed prospectively with RSA and scintimetry to evaluate any correlation between these methods. Low activity under the tibial component at 2 years implied prosthetic stability, whereas high activity indicated instability or high bone remodelling caused by the preoperative malalignment.The in vivo kinematics in three different designs of knee arthroplasties were analyzed during active flexion and extension without weight-bearing. Each type of prosthesis displayed design-specific abnormalities when compared with a normal material. Pronounced posterior tibial translations were recorded during flexion regardless whether the posterior cruciate ligament had been sacrificed or not. Data from the kinematic and the fixation studies suggest that movements restricted by the design of the joint area are transmitted to the bony interface with design-specific micromotions as the result.Analysis of knee joint kinematics during extension and weight-bearing revealed small alterations compared with non-weight-bearing. Evaluation of the three-dimensional movements in terms of helical axis rotations and translations confirmed the constrained or unconstrained in vivo behaviour of the designs under study. This analysis also facilitated the interpretation of the kinematic behaviour of the prosthetic knees and may be of value in the evaluation of new designs.
