  • Drug Development Targeting the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System (UPS) for the Treatment of Human Cancers
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Cancers. - : MDPI AG. - 2072-6694. ; 12:4
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cancer cells are characterized by a higher rate of protein turnover and greater demand for protein homeostasis compared to normal cells. In this scenario, the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), which is responsible for the degradation of over 80% of cellular proteins within mammalian cells, becomes vital to cancer cells, making the UPS a critical target for the discovery of novel cancer therapeutics. This review systematically categorizes all current reported small molecule inhibitors of the various essential components of the UPS, including ubiquitin-activating enzymes (E1s), ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s), ubiquitin ligases (E3s), the 20S proteasome catalytic core particle (20S CP) and the 19S proteasome regulatory particles (19S RP), as well as their mechanism/s of action and limitations. We also discuss the immunoproteasome which is considered as a prospective therapeutic target of the next generation of proteasome inhibitors in cancer therapies.

  • Coordination polymers for energy transfer: Preparations, properties, sensing applications, and perspectives
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Coordination chemistry reviews. - : Elsevier. - 0010-8545 .- 1873-3840. ; 284, s. 206-235
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This review highlights the recent progress of bulk and nanoscale coordination polymer (CP) materials forenergy transfer. Artificial light-harvesting materials with efficient energy transfer are practically usefulfor a variety of applications including photovoltaic, white emitting devices, and sensors. In the pastdecades CP (aka Metal-organic framework, MOF) has experienced rapid development due to a multitude of applications, including catalyst, gas storage and separations, non-linear optics, luminescence, and soon. Recent research has shown that CP is a very promising light-harvesting platform because the energytransfers can occur between different ligands, from ligand to metal centers, or from MOF skeleton to guestspecies. This review comprehensively surveyed synthetic approaches to light-harvesting CPs, and postfunctionalization. Sensing applications and achievements in energy-transfer CP nanoparticles and thinfilms were also discussed.

  • Visible-blind and flexible metal-semiconductor-metal ultraviolet photodetectors based on sub-10-nm thick silver interdigital electrodes
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Optics Letters. - : The Optical Society. - 0146-9592 .- 1539-4794. ; 46:18, s. 4666-4669
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We propose and experimentally demonstrate a distinct visible-blind and flexible metal-semiconductor-metal ultraviolet (UV) photodetector (PD) based on sub-10-nm thick silver interdigital electrodes. The transparent PD with 7-nm thick electrodes shows enhanced visible transmittance (80%) in average and achieves greatly improved responsivity (60.5 mA/W), and detectivity (1.75 x 10(10) Jones) at 5 V under 380-nm illumination, compared with its opaque counterpart. It is as fast as the opaquePDwith short rise and fall times (22.4 and 11.5 ms) and shows good flexibility. All the properties are comparable or superior to many reported transparent UV PDs, mainly attributed to the broad high UV-visible transmittance and the high conductivity of the ultrathin silver film.

  • A Four Parameter Microfluidic Tandem SAW-IS Bio-Sensor
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium, IUS. - 1948-5719 .- 1948-5727. ; 2019-October, s. 193-196
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Surface Acoustic Resonance (SAR) biosensing has recently been proposed as a highly compact and robust alternative to the conventional SAW delay-line based biosensing. The device can also be presented as a one-port high frequency alternative to the QCM, employing SAW resonance. It enables simple one-port measurements at low powers, while offering robust integration with microfluidics and implementation in integrated sensor arrays. Here we discuss the SAR approach as a key enabling and demonstrate its integration with the impedance spectroscopy (IS) concept in a single microfluidic device. The IS is integrated within a SAW reflector formed as interdigitated electrode (IDE) capacitor. A test fixture with SAW and IS ports is designed and fabricated. Four sensitive parameters are deduced from the tandem sensor readout and employed in a proof of principle study of liposome layers and their interaction with Ca2+ ions.

  • Cluster synchronization and controllability of complex multi-agent networks
  • 2012
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper discloses the similarities between the condition for realizing cluster synchronization and that for uncontrollability in diffusively coupled multi-agent networks, both of which are built upon the characteristics of the networks' topologies. We first generalize the notions of equitable partitions and almost equitable partitions to make them applicable to directed, weighted graphs. Consequently, we are enabled to characterize the controllable subspace of a given diffusively coupled multi-agent system using graph theoretic ideas. After comparing the condition to realize cluster synchronization and the condition for the network to be controllable, we conclude that those diffusively coupled multi-agent networks that are not controllable usually realize cluster synchronization asymptotically. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the theoretical results.

  • ECO-DRIVING CONTROL FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES AT INTERSECTIONS WITH WIRELESS CHARGING
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Energy Proceedings. - : Applied Energy Innovation Institute (AEii). - 2004-2965. ; 4
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Electric vehicles (EVs) have been viewed by many as a method to reduce greenhouse emissions, operate mobility efficiently, and decrease energy consumption. The limited driving range is a huge challenge to promote the popularization of EVs. The wireless charging lane can charge EV when it travels, thus can decrease the driving range anxiety of the driver. In this paper, we propose a new wireless charging scheme which combines the signalized intersection and partial wireless charging lane. We develop an eco-driving control strategy for EVs at intersections with wireless charging. The numerical results show that the wireless charging scheme with the eco-driving control strategy can increase the driving range and decrease the travel cost.
