  • Abstract Book of the 30th Workshop on Compound Semiconductor Devices and Integrated Circuits in Europe
  • 2006
  • Editorial collection (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The organisers and hosts warmly welcome you to the 30th Workshop on Compound Semiconductor Devices and Integrated Circuits in Europe, WOCSDICE 2006, at the Gullmarsstrand Hotel & Conferences in Fiskebäckskil, Sweden, May 14-17, 2006. The symposium is organised by the Chalmers Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2) with the aim to create a forum where researchers can discuss latest results and trends in the field of compound semiconductor technology and related science. Established in 1973, WOCSDICE has a long-standing tradition. This workshop brings together both internationally recognised researchers and promising young scientists and engineers to disseminate state-of-the-art research findings in the areas of compound semiconductor materials, associated devices and integrated circuits. This year we have 56 papers (8 invited) divided into nine sessions and more than 78 delegates from 20 countries.Fiskebäckskil is a small restful community situated by Gullmarsfjorden opposite to the village Lysekil. Gullmarsfjorden is Sweden's only true threshold fjord, 25 km deep and 1 to 3 km broad. In the 19th century the small fishing village was transformed into a shipping society. The special wood based architecture of this time is well preserved until today. During the 20th century Fiskebäckskil, surrounded by red granite and the salty sea became a prime choice for summer recreation and swimming. The conference hotel (Gullmarsstrand) building is reverentially renovated and modernised to fulfil the highest expectations for a successful workshop. The workshop is sponsored by the Swedish Research Council (VR), the IEEE Sweden Section, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF-HSEP), Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA), OXFORD Plasma Technology and Agilent technologies. We would like to thank these organisations for their support. We would also like to thank everyone who helped to arrange WOCSDICE 2006: the international steering committee for advice; the local organising committee; Eva Hellberg and Peter Jönsson for all WEB support; Catharina Forssén, and Ingrid Collin for help with registrations and payments; the session chairs; and everyone who attends or contributes with a presentation. On behalf of the local organisation committee, we would like to welcome all of you and wish you a pleasant and fruitful stay in Fiskebäckskil.Welcome!Jan Stake and Jan GrahnWOCSDICE2006 Chairmen

  • Activism at Home. Architects Dwelling between Politics, Aesthetics, and Resistance
  • 2021
  • Editorial collection (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Activism at Home offers a unique study of architects’ own dwellings; homes purposely designed to express social, political, economic, and cultural critiques. Through thirty case studies by architectural scholars, this book highlights different forms of activism at home from the early twentieth century to today. The architect-led experiments in activist living discussed in this book include the dwellings of Ralph Erskine, Paulo Mendes Da Rocha, Charles Moore, Flora Ruchat-Roncati, Kiyoshi Seike, and many others. Offering candid appraisals of alternative living solutions that formulate a response to rising real estate prices, economic inequality, social alienation, and mounting environmental and cultural challenges, Activism at Home is more than a historical study; it is an appeal to architects to use the discipline’s tools to their full potential, and a plea to scholars to continue bringing architecture's activist practices into focus—whether at home or elsewhere.

  • AESTHETICS – THE UNEASY DIMENSION IN ARCHITECTURE
  • 2016
  • Editorial collection (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This anthology is the proceedings publication from the 2013 NAF Symposium "Aesthetics, the Uneasy Dimension in Architecture". Suggesting that critical discussion on aesthetics in architecture and architectural discourse has become marginalized or almost non-existent at many universities and schools of architecture, the symposium wished to address this matter and what it means to architecture and our notion of it. In a self-reflexive manner, it also wished to explore how this influences architectural research and the way architectural research is carried out in different research contexts. Andersson, Minna Chudoba, Hege Charlotte Faber, Ævar Hardarson, Iida Kalakoski, Magnus Rönn, Anne Elisabeth Toft and Leif Östman

  • Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Physics 2010
  • 2012
  • In: Journal of Physics: Conference Series. - : IOP Publishing. - 1742-6596 .- 1742-6588.
  • Editorial collection (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • This proceedings volume presents results obtained by the participants of the 6th Baltic–Nordic workshop 'Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Physics (AGMP-6)' held at the Sven Lovén Centre for Marine Sciences in Tjärnö, Sweden on October 25–30, 2010. The Baltic–Nordic Network AGMP 'Algebra, Geometry, and Mathematical Physics' http://www.agmp.eu was created in 2005 on the initiative of two Estonian universities and two Swedish universities: Tallinn University of Technology represented by Eugen Paal (coordinator of the network), Tartu University represented by Viktor Abramov, Lund University represented by Sergei Silvestrov, and Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg represented by Alexander Stolin. The goal was to promote international and interdisciplinary cooperation between scientists and research groups in the countries of the Baltic–Nordic region in mathematics and mathematical physics, with special emphasis on the important role played by algebra and geometry in modern physics, engineering and technologies. The main activities of the AGMP network consist of a series of regular annual international workshops, conferences and research schools. The AGMP network also constitutes an important educational forum for scientific exchange and dissimilation of research results for PhD students and Postdocs. The network has expanded since its creation, and nowadays its activities extend beyond countries in the Baltic–Nordic region to universities in other European countries and participants from elsewhere in the world. As one of the important research-dissimilation outcomes of its activities, the network has a tradition of producing high-quality research proceedings volumes after network events, publishing them with various international publishers.
