    • Participatory research is facing three challenges—how to deal with the theoretisation and conceptualisation of participation; how to support the research with analytical models; and how the evaluate the research outcomes. This article aims to address these three problems by distinguishing two main approaches (a sociological and a political) in participatory theory and developing a four-level and 12-step analytical model that functions within the political approach. In this analytical model, a series of key concepts are used: process, field, actor, decision-making moment and power. The normative-evaluative problem is addressed by reverting to the critical perspective to evaluate the societal desirability of particular participatory intensities. This critical perspective—potentially—adds a 13th and final normative layer to the analytical model.

    • The article first discusses five approaches that aim to transcend, complement, or overturn the hegemony of the written academic text. In the second part, the Mirror Palace of Democracy installation experiment, which had the explicit objective of moving beyond the written academic text while still remaining in the realm of academic knowledge communication, is autoethnographically analyzed. The experiment allowed reflection on the integrated and iterative nature of academic communication, on the hybrid academic– artistic identity, and on the diversification of publics. Both the theoretical discussion and the Mirror Palace of Democracy installation are part of a call for more experimentation with, and theorization of, multimodal and/or arts-based academic communication.

    • O que causa impressão ao ler El reino de este mundo de Alejo Carpentier e Memorial do Convento de José Saramago é uma evidente série de analogias a nível morfológico e temático. O propósito deste trabalho é destacar e descrever estas analogias com o apoio das teorias da transtextualidade de Gérard Genette (1982) e de José Enrique Martínez Fernández (2001).  A comparação tocará, por isso, vários aspectos dos dois romances (dispositivo discursivo, dinâmica actancial, tópicos). A hipótese colocada é a existência de uma recepção produtiva de El reino de este mundo na escrita de Memorial do Convento. Este trabalho, inspirado por uma abordagem à literatura comparada assim como a entende Claudio Guillén (2005), coloca-se, mais especificamente, na área de pesquisa que visa destacar a recepção da literatura hispano-americana na literatura portuguesa.

    • Este artigo insere-se no âmbito de um projeto de literatura comparada cujo objetivo é destacar certas correspondências em determinadas obras de ficção de língua espanhola e portuguesa. O que queremos salientar é a forma como determinadas problemáticas históricas e sociais são configuradas na obra de um ou outro escritor, muitas vezes com analogias visíveis no que se refere a tópicos, estilo, personagem, estruturas actanciais. Os dois romances pelos quais optamos neste artigo são Los perros del paraíso (1983) do argentino Abel Posse e As Naus (1988) do português António Lobo Antunes. Ambos os romances podem ser inseridos no âmbito daquilo que, na teoria do romance histórico, é definido como novo romance histórico ou romance histórico pós-moderno e, para além desta semelhança, compartilham uma visão comum sobre o processo de colonização nos séculos XV-XVI.

    • This paper is part of a comparative literature project that aims to explore certain similarities between Spanish and Portuguese-language fiction. The specific purpose is to highlight how a number of historical and social issues are dealt with in works that often show overt analogies in terms of topic, style, character, and actantial structure. The paper presents an analysis of two novels that offer similar views of the colonization process of the 15th and 16th centuries, Los perros del Paraiso (1983) by the Argentine writer Abel Posse and As Naus (1988) by the Portuguese writer Antonio Lobo Antunes, both of which can be described, in the context of the theory of the historical novel, as new historical novels or postmodern historical novels.

    • The green economy initiative carries with it the optimistic view that theeconomy can and should be driven by investments in clean activities as opposed to theextraction of natural resources and polluting industries. However there are limits to theemphasis that is often put on efficiency improvements and on the substitution betweensectors of an economy. For the economy to be green, the reduction in environmentalimpact per unit of GDP should be higher than GDP growth over a period. Even thoughrecent evidence shows that some countries aparently passed the peak in the use of materialsand energy, global extraction of natural resources and CO2 emissions has increased.A probable cause is that rich countries have outsourced polluting activities to poorercountries. It is time to bring the skepticism of reason to the debate and seriously discussdegrowth, not of GDP or of opportunities for human development, but of the globalresource extration and carbon emissions.

    • Digital culture refers to the practices, habits, and values that emerge from people'sinteractions with digital technologies, such as the Internet, social networks, and mobile apps,among others. In the curriculum of basic education, it is necessary to work with elements of DigitalCulture so that students can exercise digital citizenship in a critical and reflective way. However,research indicates that teachers, many of them digital immigrants, do not have appropriateresources from the Digital Culture to teach their classes while students, digital natives, observe theidiosyncratic logic and dynamics of school with their reality and notice a great mismatch. Based onthis context, the question is: what are the elements of digital culture that contribute to the reflectionand criticality of students in the teaching of Philosophy in high school? The aim of this text is tohighlight the resources of digital culture that contribute to the reflection and criticality of studentsin the teaching of Philosophy in high school. The methodology is a qualitative bibliographicapproach. As a result, it was observed, in existing research, that the digital resources adopted inpedagogical practices contribute to the teaching of Philosophy and that, depen ding on the resourceused, they allow: illustrating philosophical concepts and theories in a concrete way; stimulatephilosophical and critical reflection; develop critical skills; stimulate debate; share ideas andopinions on philosophical topics; democra tize access to illustrative, representative and interactivephilosophical content; offer different perspectives according to the context and pedagogicalintentions.

    • A catalogação é uma atividade corriqueira no trabalho do bibliotecário. Alguns recursos informacionais necessitam de uma descrição bibliográfica mais exaustiva e completa para possibilitar a recuperação dos mesmos pelos usuários por meio do catálogo. Destacam-se nesse contexto as obras raras, que possuem características distintas dos livros modernos. Diante disso buscou-se compreender como ocorre o processo de catalogação de obras raras, no contexto das bibliotecas, e quais os instrumentos e metodologias são utilizados a partir da análise dos aspectos bibliográfico e bibliológico.

    • Bibliographic collecting is a practice that involves the gathering of bibliographic materials based on subjective issues. Research in that area seeks to understand the reasons underlying the pathologic, the documentary and the economic motivations related to the act of collecting; this implies the need for interdisciplinary studies. In this context, the question is: what is the state of the art of studies related to bibliographic collecting in the context of Information Science in Brazil? Thus, the core of this study is to present a theoretical and documentary understanding of studies related to bibliographic collecting. The paper also aims to address the terminology used, the main studies developed in the area and the prospects for carrying out new research in the subject. The method is bibliographic and bibliometric-documentary. We found that papers concerning bibliographic collecting were mainly published from the year 2000 on; however, it was only from 2007 on that we retrieved research documented in the proceedings of editions of the Encontro Nacional de Pesquisa em Ciência da Informação. The studies retrieved draw connections between Information Science, Museology, Social Memory, Psychology and Social Communication. We highlight the low incidence of studies focused on bibliographic collecting and the need for approaches that also contemplate bibliographic collecting in digital media.
