  • Excited States in 103Sn: Neutron Single-particle Energies with Respect to 100Sn
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C (Nuclear Physics). - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 63:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Gamma-ray lines from Sn-103 have been identified for the first time using EUROBALL and ancillary detectors. The level scheme of Sn-103 has been established by means of particle-gated gamma gamma coincidences. The energy spacing between the g(7/2) and d(5/2) neutron single-particle orbitals is determined from the excited states in Sn-103.

  • Compact water-window transmission X-ray microscopy
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Journal of Microscopy. - : Wiley. - 0022-2720 .- 1365-2818. ; 197, s. 268-273
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We demonstrate sub-100 nm resolution water-window soft X-ray full-field transmission microscopy with a compact system. The microscope operates at lambda = 3.37 nm and is based on a 100 Hz table-top regenerative debris-free droplet-target laser-plasma X-ray source in combination with normal-incidence multilayer condenser optics for sample illumination. High-spatial-resolution imaging is performed with a 7.3% efficiency nickel zone plate and a 1024 x 1024 pixel CCD detector. Images of dry test samples are recorded with exposure times of a few minutes and show features smaller than 60 nm.

  • Smoking and the risk of gastric cancer in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC)
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Cancer. - : Wiley. - 0020-7136. ; 107:4, s. 629-634
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Smoking has recently been recognised as causally associated with the development of gastric cancer (GC). However, evidence on the effect by sex, duration and intensity of smoking, anatomic subsite and cessation of smoking is limited. Our objective was to assess the relation between tobacco use and GC incidence in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC). We studied data from 521,468 individuals recruited from 10 European countries taking part in the EPIC study. Participants completed lifestyle questionnaires that included questions on lifetime consumption of tobacco and diet in 1991-1998. Participants were followed until September 2002, and during that period 305 cases of stomach cancer were identified. After exclusions, 274 were eligible for the analysis, using the Cox proportional hazard model. After adjustment for educational level, consumption of fresh fruit, vegetables and preserved meat, alcohol intake and body mass index (BMI), there was a significant association between cigarette smoking and gastric cancer risk: the hazard ratio (HR) for ever smokers was 1.45 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.08-1.94). The HR of current cigarette smoking was 1.73 (95% CI = 1.06-2.83) in males and 1.87 (95% CI = 1.12-3.12) in females. Hazard ratios increased with intensity and duration of cigarette smoked. A significant decrease of risk was observed after 10 years of quitting smoking. A preliminary analysis of 121 cases with identified anatomic site showed that current cigarette smokers had a higher HR of GC in the cardia (HR = 4.10) than in the distal part of the stomach (HR = 1.94). In this cohort, 17.6 % (95% CI = 10.5-29.5 %) of GC cases may be attributable to smoking. Findings from this large study support the causal relation between smoking and gastric cancer in this European population. Stomach cancer should be added to the burden of diseases caused by smoking. • A liquid-xenon-jet laser-plasma X-ray and EUV source
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Microelectronic Engineering. - 0167-9317 .- 1873-5568. ; 53:04-jan, s. 667-670
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We describe a laser-plasma soft-x-ray source based on a cryogenic-xenon liquid-jet target. The source is suitable for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) projection lithography and proximity x-ray lithography (PXL). Absolute calibrated spectra in the 1-2 nm range and uncalibrated spectra in the 9-15 nm range are obtained using a free-standing transmission grating and a CCD-detector.

  • Characterisation of a liquid-xenon jet laser-plasma extreme-ultraviolet source
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Review of Scientific Instruments. - : AIP Publishing. - 0034-6748 .- 1089-7623. ; 75:6, s. 2122-2129
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A liquid-xenon-jet laser-plasma source for extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) and soft-x-ray generation has been characterized. Being a source candidate for EUV lithography (EUVL), we especially focus on parameters important for the integration of the source in EUVL systems. The deep-ultraviolet (DUV) out-of-band radiation (=120–400 nm) was quantified, to within a factor of two, using a flying-circus tool together with a transmission-grating spectrograph resulting in a total DUV conversion efficiency (CE) of ~0.33%/2sr. The size and the shape of the xenon plasma was investigated using an in-band-only EUV microscope, based on a spherical Mo/Si multilayer mirror and a charge-coupled device detector. Scalability of the source size from 20–270 µm full width at half maximum was shown. The maximum repetition-rate sustainable by the liquid-xenon-jet target was simulated by a double-pulse experiment indicating feasibility of >17 kHz operation. The xenon-ion energy distribution from the plasma was determined in a time-of-flight experiment with a Faraday-cup detector showing the presence of multi-kilo-electron-volt ions. Sputtering of silicon witness plates exposed to the plasma was observed, while a xenon background of >1 mbar was shown to eliminate the sputtering. It is concluded that the source has potential to meet the requirements of future EUVL systems.

  • Stability of droplet-target laser-plasma soft x-ray sources
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Journal of Applied Physics. - : AIP Publishing. - 0021-8979 .- 1089-7550. ; 88:9, s. 5421-5425
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The spatial stability of microscopic target droplets used for laser-plasma soft x-ray generation in vacuum is investigated. A long-term drift in drop position is characterized with an ultrafast laser-diode imaging system. The drift is experimentally and theoretically shown to be due to a temperature-induced increase in target-liquid viscosity as a result of evaporation. Finally, the drift is compensated for and stable, long-term unattended operation of the source is demonstrated with an automatic phase-delay drop-to-laser synchronizing system. This is important for future compact lithography and microscopy systems.

  • Liquid-jet laser-plasma X-ray sources for microscopy and lithography
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Journal de Physique IV. - : EDP Sciences. - 1155-4339 .- 1764-7177. ; 11:PR2, s. 389-396
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We review the development of compact laser-plasma soft x-ray sources based on microscopic liquid-drop or liquid-jet targets. It is shown that such sources provide practically debris-free, high-flux operation at water-window and EUV wavelengths. This regenerative and solid-density target system holds promise for the generation of high-average power using high-repetition-rate lasers. Application of the source to compact x-ray microscopy, multi layer-op tics characterization and EUV lithography is briefly discussed.

  • A longitudinal study integrating population, care and social services data : The Swedish National study on Aging and Care (SNAC)
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Aging Clinical and Experimental Research. - Milano : Kurtis. - 1594-0667 .- 1720-8319. ; 16:2, s. 158-168
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background and aims: A large, national, long-term, longitudinal, multi-purpose study has been launched in Sweden - the Swedish National study on Aging and Care (SNAC). The study involves four research centers collecting data in four different areas of Sweden. Methods: The study consists of two parts: the population part and the care and services part. In the population part, a large, representative panel of elders in different age cohorts is followed over time to record and describe the aging process from different aspects. In the care and services part, a systematic, longitudinal, individually-based collection of data is performed concerning provision of care and services together with functional ability, specific health care problems, and living conditions of the recipients living in the area.Resuits: The data collection in the population part of the SNAC is not yet completed. In the present article, some preliminary results are reported from the care and services part. These pertain to comparisons between the participating areas with respect to the prevalence of disability among those receiving care and social services in their ordinary homes and those receiving care in special accommodation. A comparison is also presented with regard to the amount of home help provided to subjects with a given disability. Conclusions: This project has several advantages. It is expected to generate a rich data base relevant for future research on aging and care and to have a direct impact on the future Swedish system of care and services for the elderly.
