  • SegBo : A Database of Borrowed Sounds in the World’s Languages
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 12th Language Resources and Evaluation Conference. ; , s. 5316-5322
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Phonological segment borrowing is a process through which languages acquire new contrastive speech sounds as the result of borrowing new words from other languages. Despite the fact that phonological segment borrowing is documented in many of the world’s languages, to date there has been no large-scale quantitative study of the phenomenon. In this paper, we present SegBo, a novel cross-linguistic database of borrowed phonological segments. We describe our data aggregation pipeline and the resulting language sample. We also present two short case studies based on the database. The first deals with the impact of large colonial languages on the sound systems of the world’s languages; the second deals with universals of borrowing in the domain of rhotic consonants.

  • Simultaneous determination of flavonols and phenolic acids by HPLC-CoulArray in berries common in the Nordic diet
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Food Science and Technology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0023-6438 .- 1096-1127. ; 74, s. 128-134
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this study we evaluated and applied an HPLC coulometric array (HPLC-CoulArray) method for simultaneous determination of flavonols and phenolic acids in bilberry, lingonberry, cloudberry and sea buckthorn berry. Berry samples purchased from local supermarkets were freeze-dried, hydrolysed and extracted with 50% aqueous methanol containing TBHQ antioxidant and 1.2 M HCL, and analysed with HPLC-CoulArray. We found that phenolic profiles differed between berries. Quercetin was found in almost all berries, with the highest concentrations observed in lingonberry. Myricetin and isorhamnetin were only detected in bilberry and sea-buckthorn, respectively. Hydroxycinnamic acids (caffeic, ferulic, p-coumaric) were also detected in all berries, but hydroxybenzoic acids (gallic, vanillic) were not found in sea-buckthorn. Total concentration of phenolic compounds was highest in sea-buckthorn berry (270.5 mg/100 g DW), followed by bilberry (253.6 mg/100 g DW), lingonberry (219.7 mg/100 g DW) and cloudberry (121.7 mg/100 g DW). • Quinone based conducting redox polymers for electrical energy storage
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Elektrokhimiya. - : MAIK NAUKA/INTERPERIODICA. - 0424-8570. ; 53:1, s. 11-20
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Conducting redox polymers (CRPs) constitute a promising class of materials for the development of organic matter based batteries with the potential to overcome the main limitations connected to this type of rechargeable battery systems including low conductivity and dissolution problems. In this report we show that the potential of quinones can be effectively tuned into the conducting region of polypyrrole (PPy), both in water based solutions and in acetonitrile, which is a prerequisite for profitable combination of the two units. We also present a device where both anode and cathode are made from PPy substituted with different quinone pendant groups and where good rate performance is achieved without any conductivity additives thus providing support for the hypothesized synergetic effect of a conducting polymer backbone and a covalently attached redox active pendant group. This device constitutes, to the best of our knowledge, the first all-CRP based battery reported to date.

  • Musik- och poesiprojekt
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: SMDI 14, 18-19 november 2020, Malmö universitet.
• Verapamil does not modify catalytic activity of CYP450 in rainbow trout after long-term exposure
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety. - : Elsevier BV. - 0147-6513 .- 1090-2414. ; 79, s. 148-152
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Little is known about the effects of the cardiovascular drug verapamil (VRP) on metabolic processes in fish. Most calcium channel blockers including VRP are metabolized by cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes. In this study we investigated the in vivo effect of VRP on some CYP450-mediated reactions in juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Fish were exposed to sublethal concentrations of VRP (0.5, 27 and 270 mu g l(-1)) for 0, 21, and 42 day. The following CYP450-mediated reactions were studied in hepatic microsomes: O-dealkylation of ethoxyresorufin, methoxyresorufin, and pentoxyresorufin, hydroxylation of coumarin, tolbutamide, and p-nitrophenol, and O-debenzylation of 7-benzyloxy-4-trifluoromethylcoumarin. The amounts of products of these reactions did not differ among fish exposed to different levels of VRP and control fish. This suggests that the levels of VPR used did not alter catalytic activity of the selected CYP450 enzymes. In conclusion, none of the investigated CYP450-mediated reactions has potential as a biomarker to monitor VRP contamination of the aquatic environment. (C) 2012 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

  • The chemical potential in surface segregation calculations : AgPd alloys
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: Surface Science. - : Elsevier BV. - 0039-6028 .- 1879-2758. ; 600:4, s. 904-913
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We put forward a technique for calculating the surface segregation profile in substitutional disordered alloys. The surface internal energy and the effective bulk and surface chemical potentials are calculated using the full charge density exact muffin-tin orbitals method, combined with the coherent potential approximation. The application of our approach is demonstrated to the close-packed surface of AgcPd1-c random alloys with 0 < c < 1. The surface concentration profile, surface energy and segregation energy are investigated as functions of bulk composition. The present results are compared with former theoretical and experimental data. It is found that at low temperature, Ag segregates to the surface layer for the entire bulk composition range. At 0 K, the subsurface layer contains 100% Pd for c <= 0.4, and somewhat more than (2c - 1) Ag in alloys with c > 0.5. The temperature dependence of the segregation profile is significant for I'd rich alloys and for alloys with intermediate concentrations. At temperatures >= 600 K, the subsurface layer is obtained to be almost bulk like.
