- I Sverige har vid olika tidpunkter lanserats satsningar för att skapa förutsättningar för en mer jämställd arbetsmarknad. Både politik och arbetsmarknad har genomgått betydande förändringar, något som i denna rapport studeras på regional nivå utifrån ett genusperspektiv. Studien placeras i skärningspunkten mellan arbetsmarknadspolitik, jämställdhetspolitik och regionalpolitik. Arbetsmarknadspolitiken har länge varit ett av de starkaste medlen för att uppnå målen med jämställdhetspolitiken. I den här rapporten undersöks den del av arbetsmarknadspolitiken som samverkar med den regionala utvecklingspolitiken och hur den utformas i relation till de jämställdhetspolitiska målen. Rapportens huvudsyfte är att utifrån två tidsbilder diskutera möjligheter och problem som är förknippade med den politik som uppmuntrar och stimulerar kvinnor att övergå från hemarbete till lönearbete, respektive från lönearbete till företagande. Genom två nedslag i tiden i Jämtlands län illustreras en förskjutning i den politiska retoriken från lönearbete till företagande som avspeglas i olika arbetsmarknadssatsningar för att öka kvinnors förankring på arbetsmarknaden. Med en maktordning som underordnar kvinnor återkommer ett synsätt som leder till att politiska åtgärder gång på gång utformas utifrån synen på kvinnors arbetskraft som en reserv.

- In times of major global interconnectedness and environmental change, the pressure to identify, create, and exploit new resources is certain to intensify. Given that there are unavoidable trade-offs, conflicts, and arenas for violence involved when increasingly more material and immaterial things are turned into resources, we call for explicit research on the very process – a process that we label resourcification. The concept of resourcification shifts attention from essentialist queries about the nature of resources to a focus on the social processes through which things are turned into resources. In search of a better understanding of resources in the Anthropocene and, in particular, an understanding about the way resources emerge and are used, resourcification offers a new conceptual framework that allows for a systematic search for knowledge about the diversity of contexts, conditions, modes, and temporalities of resourcification. This Resourcification Manifesto offers a theoretical and empirical framework for a radical and disruptive approach to innovation, sustainability, and management studies and policies.

- Recent years have seen much interest in business models as vehicles towards sustainability, cf. [1]. Conventional LCA, however, fails to properly capture the environmental impacts of a business model. Here, we introduce the background and the principles of Business Model LCA, a new LCA methodology for the assessment of environmental performance of business models. Methodological innovations are based on an understanding of the difference and relatedness between product and business. The key innovation is that BM-LCA centres its analysis on the ’business model’ instead of the ’product function’ as in conventional LCA. This requires the functional unit to represent the business (e.g., as ‘profit per time unit’) and the need to couple the monetary flows of the business to the material and energy flows of the product system via a set of ’coupling’ equations. BM-LCA contributes to environmental business analysis and could open up a new avenue of research where LCA and business analysts collaborate on business model innovation for sustainability.

- This thesis concerns both static and dynamic modeling in a spatial computable general equilibrium setting. First, we have applied a static framework for the assessment of economic impacts of the Öresund bridge. Secondly, we make an attempt to enhance the static framework through the introduction of economic dynamics. Third, we introduce the STRAGO model, incorporating monopolistic competition, dynamics and additive transport costs. STRAGO is applied to the analysis of effects from a kilometer tax on freight. The last paper presents a framework for studying the division, or fragmentation of production. This framework uses the standard theory of monopolistic competition, with a production chain extension, through a recursive view of markets. The optimal level of fragmentation in such industries is studied.

- Based on the combination of economic challenges and uncertain policy conditions in the United States, European Union, and elsewhere, the development of advanced biorefineries has progressed slower than anticipated. This has delayed the transition to a more sustainable and less carbon-intensive economy. In this article, we adopt the technological innovation system (TIS) approach to analyze advanced biorefinery development in Sweden, a front-runner country in current development. The analysis highlights a number of system strengths (e.g., long-term research funding; significant research infrastructure; strong actor networks) that have contributed to developing the Swedish TIS, but also important system weaknesses (e.g., weak coordination among ministries; lack of industrial absorptive capacity; unclear roles) inhibiting it. The article highlights a combination of four policy measures that build on the system strengths to address the system weaknesses: (a) the implementation of a deployment policy for creating domestic niche markets; (b) improved policy timing and more structured coordination among different governmental agencies; (c) the provision of stronger incentives for mature industries to invest in R&D and improve their absorptive capacity; and (d) improved organization and financing of existing research infrastructure. In addition to the empirical contribution, the article contributes with novel insights into the TIS framework by highlighting the dynamics between system strengths and weaknesses, and suggests that system strengths should be better emphasized in future TIS studies

- Financial Systems, Markets and Institutional Changes analyses and exemplifies how the financial system endogenously adjusts to institutional changes such as new technology, political tendencies, cultural differences, new business models, and government interactions. It puts particular emphasis on how different institutional settings affect firms' borrowing and how the financial crisis affected the relationship between borrowing firms and lending banks. It further increases our understanding of how efficient financial markets are formed, by addressing issues related to the globalization of the financial market, questioning whether the EMU, with its regional imbalances, is an optimal currency union, and putting new requirements on an international lender of last resort. Recent technology development, with high frequency trading, and the increased existence of Islamic banking are two further examples of institutional changes that form new actors and new markets.

- The globalization movement in recent decades has meant rapid growth in trade, financial transactions, and cross-country ownership of economic assets. In this article, we examine how the globalization of national business systems has influenced the framing of corporate social responsibility (CSR). This is done using text analysis of CEO letters appearing in the annual reports of 15 major corporations in Sweden during a period of transformational change. The results show that the discourse about CSR in the annual reports has changed from a national and communitarian view of social responsibility (cf. a negotiated view of CSR) toward an international and individualistic view of social responsibility (cf. a self-regulating view of CSR). The article contributes theoretically (1) by adding a national–global dimension to previous conceptualizations of CSR and (2) by showing that the rise of CSR discourse and activities in the last 10 years does not have to imply an increased commitment and interest in corporate responsibility per se, only that there are increased societal expectations that corporations should develop the capability to act more independently as moral agents.
