- The contribution summarises a Master thesis in Industrial Design Engineering, carried out at Chalmers University of Technology in the second half of 2007 in collaboration with Semcon Sweden AB and Volvo Cars Corporation. In the beginning of this thesis an array of questions was put together. The most significant ones were: Is there a need among car owners of having a grocery bag holder in the car? As well as: Could the bag holder be totally self-instructing?Through research based upon gathered information this thesis tries to answer these and other raised questions. The information was gathered using, among other methods, literature and user studies, analyses of existing bag holder used by other brands, as well as through user interviews and observations. When this information had been put together, focus was shifted on to developing trough the use of various design methods, focus groups and engineering of concept models.A need among users could be found and the project was therefore continued towards a functional prototype. This prototype was designed using the Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool Catia V5 and then engineered using rapid prototyping (SLS-technology).A critical review has been held throughout the project and work has been pushed forward through discussions within the group, with instructors from Chalmers, with Semcon and Volvo personnel as well as with contacts from other companies.

- Profound transformations in residential practices are emerging in Europe as well as throughout the urban world. They can be observed in the unfolding diversity of residential architecture and spatially restructured cities. The complexity of urban and societal processes behind these changes requires new research approaches in order to fully grasp the significant changes in citizens’ lifestyles, their residential preferences, capacities and future opportunities for implementing resilient residential practices. The international case studies in this book examine why ways of residing have changed as well as the meaning and the significance of the social, economic, political, cultural and symbolic contexts. The volume brings together an interdisciplinary range of perspectives to reflect specifically upon the dynamic exchange between evolving ways of residing and professional practices in the fields of architecture and design, planning, policy-making, facilities management, property and market. In doing so, it provides a resourceful basis for further inquiries seeking an understanding of ways of residing in transformation as a reflection of diversifying residential cultures. Impact of broadband quality on median income and unemployment: Evidence from Sweden

- Based on a unique and exhaustive database, including micro-level pooled cross-sectional data on 23 million observations over nine years, from 2009 to 2017, we assess whether broadband quality is correlated with income and unemployment reduction. Overall, the results do not tend to show any significant effect of download speed on either income or the unemployment rate. However, after distinguishing between educational attainment and city size, we obtained heterogeneous results. While we the results suggest a substitution effect between high-skilled workers and broadband in small and medium cities, we also show that broadband quality is positively correlated with unemployment reduction for low-skilled workers in small cities with broadband over 100 Mbit/s. However, the economic significance of the effect is rather low.

- Drawing on the literature on supplier innovation, supplier development, and the relational view, we bring forward the concept of stimulation of supplier innovation, which refers to the buyer company's actions which aim to enhance its suppliers' innovativeness, guide its suppliers' innovation processes, and/or encourage its suppliers to share their innovations. Through four case studies about purchasing categories in three companies, we study how the stimulation focus is determined and what methods can be used for stimulating supplier innovation. We propose that stimulation comprises indirect and direct forms of knowledge-sharing and governance with an emphasis on indirect methods and suggest that the concept sheds light on the research gap on the push model of supplier innovation. We also elaborate the literature on supplier development and relational view in the context of supplier innovation.

- The purpose of this paper is to understand quality management by describing differences between organisations and practices. This study looks at the scores for different criteria from the different quality award applicants in Sweden between 1992 and 2010. It is noteworthy to mention that the service industry outperforms the manufacturing industry. Furthermore, and maybe not surprisingly, large organisations are ahead of small and medium enterprises in the race for quality progress. In general, when comparing public with private organisations, private organisations do better, and especially process issues seem to be easier for private firms. This study also suggests that process management as it is described and taught needs to be revised to better fit the organisations. The time has come to question old truths about quality management, especially regarding who is better than whom at what, and who needs to learn what from whom.

- This article concerns the use of rhetoric strategies in call for improved financial literacy and financial education. The article combines a presentation of how rhetoric is used in financial literacy improvement initiatives and a discussion on the benefits of including a rhetoric framework in future studies of financial literacy and of finance economy in everyday life. The examples are sampled from the OECD website IGFE and from country-specific initiatives and programmes for improving levels of financial literacy in the general public. The central issue of the article is how the notions of objectivity and rationality together are prevailing as a general theme in the current discourse of the field. The discussion includes how information on financial matters is presented in programme initiatives from mainly an objective and rational perspective and in this sense even may be seen as being ‘anti-rhetoric’. The notion of information accessibility does in this sense become a question of individual activity where the possibility to take ‘financial charge’ of the situation is linked to being able to process ‘objective’ information about financial markets and instruments. The rhetoric patterns of perceived rationality in the studied initiatives can further be seen as linked to personal morality and the incentive to be financially literate in order to control one’s personal economy.
