  • Omnidirectional 3D modeling on a mobile robot using graph cuts
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 2005 IEEE International Converence on Robotics and Automation. ; , s. 1748-1754
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For a mobile robot it is a natural task to build a 3D model of its environment. Such a model is not only useful for planning robot actions but also to provide a remote human surveillant a realistic visualization of the robot’s state with respect to the environment. Acquiring 3D models of environments is also an important task on its own with many possible applications like creating virtual interactive walkthroughs or as basis for 3D-TV.In this paper we present our method to acquire a 3D model using a mobile robot that is equipped with a laser scanner and a panoramic camera. The method is based on calculating dense depth maps for panoramic images using pairs of panoramic images taken from different positions using stereo matching. Traditional 2D-SLAM using laser-scan-matching is used to determine the needed camera poses. To receive high-quality results we use a high-quality stereo matching algorithm – the graph cut method. We describe the necessary modifications to handle panoramic images and specialized post-processing methods.

  • Lifetime healthcare expenditures across socioeconomic groups in Sweden.
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: European journal of public health. - : Oxford University Press. - 1464-360X .- 1101-1262. ; 33:6, s. 994-1000
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Individuals of lower socioeconomic status generally have higher healthcare expenditures than individuals of higher socioeconomic status. However, little is known about how expenditures are distributed across socioeconomic groups over a lifetime, once accounting for differences in life expectancy. This study describes how lifetime healthcare expenditures are distributed across age, sex and socioeconomic groups in Sweden while adjusting for differences in life expectancy.Healthcare utilization from 2016 were linked to demographic and socioeconomic data for a random sample of individuals aged 20 and above in the four largest Swedish regions (n=440659). Mortality data were used to estimate income- and sex-specific survival rates. Expected lifetime healthcare expenditures were estimated by combining survival rates with mean healthcare expenditures over age, by sex, and income quintile. We find that expected lifetime healthcare expenditures are highest among the first (lowest) income quintile despite their evident lower life expectancy. Expected lifetime expenditures were 17.9% (16.8%) higher in the first income quintile compared to the fifth (highest) quintile for women (men). Individuals in the first income quintile had higher expected lifetime expenditures for all care categories except for primary care.We conclude that despite a lower life expectancy, the quintile of the lowest socioeconomic status still had higher lifetime healthcare expenditures.

  • A theoretical and experimental study of the double photoionisation of molecular bromine and a new double ionisation mechanism
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Chemical Physics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0301-0104 .- 1873-4421. ; 343:2-3, s. 270-280
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Complete double photoionisation spectra of Br2 have been measured at 30.4, 37.9 and 40.7 nm. The spectra are compared with high level relativistic calculations of the state energies and potential energy surfaces of Br22 + carried out within a four-component relativistic framework. Excellent agreement is obtained between experimental and theoretical relative state energies which allows for an assignment of the main part of the spectrum. Spectroscopic constants and tunnelling lifetimes have been determined for quasi-bound states. From the experimentally determined electron distributions we deduce that a new form of dissociative autoionisation plays a major role in double photoionisation of bromine and other molecules where certain atomic ions are major fragmentation products. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. • Revitalizing social work education through global and critical awareness : Examples from three Scandinavian schools of social work
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: European Journal of Social Work. - : Routledge. - 1369-1457 .- 1468-2664. ; 20:1, s. 76-87
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Increasing globalisation, reorganisation of the Scandinavian welfare regimes and the awareness of increasing global roots of local social problems necessitated change in the curriculum of social work in three Scandinavian schools of social work in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Recent global transformations, increasing global inequalities, increasing forced migration and the emergence of glocal social problems make the traditional education and methods of social work ineffective and in some cases harmful for people in need of social work intervention. This article examines the need to provide critical, global and multilevel perspectives in social work education in order to prepare social work students for the increasing social problems with global roots. The article, which is based on cross-national collaborations in social work education between three Scandinavian countries, addresses global and critical components in theoretical courses, professional training and field practice in the social work education of the countries in question. It is argued that social work education should move beyond the old division of classical and international/intercultural toward including global and critical perspectives in an integrative manner in all programs.

  • Patient-reported negative experiences related to caries and its treatment among Swedish adult patients.
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: BMC Oral Health. - : BioMed Central (BMC). - 1472-6831. ; 17:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: It has been suggested that dental caries should be regarded as a chronic disease as many individuals repeatedly develop new caries lesions. How this is perceived by caries active patients is unclear. The aim of this study was to measure patient-reported attitudes and negative experiences related to caries and dental treatment.METHODS: A questionnaire was mailed to 134 caries active (CA) and 40 caries inactive (CI) adult patients treated at a Swedish public dental service clinic. The questionnaire included items regarding patient-reported oral health; attitudes towards caries and efforts to prevent them; and negative experiences related to caries and dental treatment. Questionnaire data were supplemented with data on caries and caries prophylaxis from patients' dental records. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted on items related to patients' perceptions of problems to see whether scales could be created. Experiences, perceptions and dental records of CA and CI patients were compared.RESULTS: The overall response rate was 69%. Dental records confirmed that CA patients had significantly more decayed teeth per year and a longer period of caries-active time than CI patients. Factor analysis resulted in 3 distinct scales measuring problems related to caries; 1) caries-related information; 2) negative experiences; and 3) negative treatment/staff attitudes. A fourth scale measuring perceived problems related to caries was also created. The CA group reported significantly more problems related to caries and dental treatment, received significantly more caries-related information, and reported significantly more negative treatment experiences compared to CI patients.CONCLUSIONS: Caries prophylaxis methods need to be improved in order to better meet the needs of caries active patients and to create a more positive experience with dental care.
