  • Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for adult HLH : a retrospective study by the chronic malignancies and inborn errors working parties of EBMT
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Bone Marrow Transplantation. - : Springer Nature. - 0268-3369 .- 1476-5365. ; 57:5, s. 817-823
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH; hemophagocytic syndrome) is a rare syndrome of potentially fatal, uncontrolled hyperinflammation. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is indicated in primary, recurrent or progressive HLH, but information about its outcomes in the adult population is limited. We obtained data about 87 adult (>= 18 years of age) patients retrospectively reported to the EBMT. The median survival time was 13.9 months. The three and five-year overall survival (OS) was 44% (95% CI 33-54%). Among 39 patients with a follow-up longer than 15 months, only three died. Relapse rate was 21% (95% CI 13-30%), while NRM reached 36% (95% CI 25-46%). Younger patients (<30 years of age) had better prognosis, with an OS of 59% (95% CI 45-73%) at three and five years vs 23% (95% CI 8-37%) for older ones. No difference in survival between reduced and myeloablative conditioning was found. To our knowledge, this is the largest report of adult HLH patients who underwent allo-HSCT. Patients who survive the first period after this procedure can expect a long disease-free survival. Both reduced intensity and myeloablative conditioning have therapeutic potential in adult HLH.

  • Study of dipole excitations and the single particle structure of neutron rich Ni isotopes
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: AIP Conference Proceedings. - 1551-7616 .- 0094-243X. ; 1012, s. 389-391 453
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An experiment was performed using the FRS-LAND setup at GSI to study the dipole strength distributions above neutron separation threshold for neutron-rich Ni isotopes. Measurements, using the same experimental setup, were also carried out to extract single particle occupancies via knockout reactions to investigate the structure and magicity of the neutron-rich Ni isotopes. The status of the data analysis and preliminary results are presented.

  • Culture and management control interdependence : An analysis of control choices that complement the delegation of authority in Western cultural regions
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Accounting, Organizations and Society. - : Elsevier Ltd. - 0361-3682 .- 1873-6289.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This study examines the influence of cultural regions on the interdependence between delegation of authority and other management control (MC) practices. In particular, we assess whether one of the central contentions of agency theory, that incentive contracting and delegation are jointly determined, holds in different cultural regions. Drawing on prior literature, we hypothesise that the MC practices that operate as a complement to delegation vary depending on societal values and preferences, and that MC practices other than incentive contracting will complement delegation in firms in non-Anglo cultural regions. Using data collected from 584 strategic business units across three Western cultural regions (Anglo, Germanic, Nordic), our results show that the interdependence between delegation and incentive contracting is confined to Anglo firms. In the Nordic and Germanic regions, we find that strategic and action planning participation operate as a complement to delegation, while delegation is also complemented by manager selection in Nordic firms. Overall, our study demonstrates that cultural values and preferences significantly influence MC interdependence, and suggests that caution needs to be taken in making cross-cultural generalisations about the complementarity of MC practices.

  • 1989
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Inst. and Methods in Physics Research, B. - 0168-583X. ; 40-41:PART 1, s. 685-689
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A review of recent advances in high-energy ion beam analysis at the Lund Institute of Technology is presented. A nonvacuum specimen chamber allows chemical speciation using a combination of ion beam analysis and controlled heating. The development of a new versatile scanning proton microbeam based on a new dedicated accelerator, an achromatic triplet lens and an advanced specimen chamber is outlined together with the performance of a microVAX-II/VMEbus-based data acquisition system.

  • Early Observations and Analysis of the Type Ia SN 2014J in M82
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal. - 0004-637X .- 1538-4357. ; 798:1, s. 39-
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We present optical and near infrared (NIR) observations of the nearby Type Ia SN 2014J. Seventeen optical and 23 NIR spectra were obtained from 10 days before (–10d) to 10 days after (+10d) the time of maximum B-band brightness. The relative strengths of absorption features and their patterns of development can be compared at one day intervals throughout most of this period. Carbon is not detected in the optical spectra, but we identify C I λ1.0693 in the NIR spectra. Mg II lines with high oscillator strengths have higher initial velocities than other Mg II lines. We show that the velocity differences can be explained by differences in optical depths due to oscillator strengths. The spectra of SN 2014J show that it is a normal SN Ia, but many parameters are near the boundaries between normal and high-velocity subclasses. The velocities for O I, Mg II, Si II, S II, Ca II, and Fe II suggest that SN 2014J has a layered structure with little or no mixing. That result is consistent with the delayed detonation explosion models. We also report photometric observations, obtained from –10d to +29d, in the UBVRIJH and Ksbands. The template fitting package SNooPy is used to interpret the light curves and to derive photometric parameters. UsingRV = 1.46, which is consistent with previous studies, SNooPy finds that AV = 1.80 for E(B – V)host = 1.23 ± 0.06 mag. The maximum B-band brightness of –19.19 ± 0.10 mag was reached on February 1.74 UT ± 0.13 days and the supernova has a decline parameter, Δm 15, of 1.12 ± 0.02 mag.

  • Combined Neutron and X-Ray Tomography-A Versatile and Non-Destructive Tool in Planetary Geosciences
  • 2024
  • Ingår i: Journal of Geophysical Research - Planets. - : American Geophysical Union (AGU). - 2169-9097 .- 2169-9100. ; 129:2
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • With several upcoming sample return missions, such as the Mars Sample Return Campaign, non-destructive methods will be key to maximizing their scientific output. In this study, we demonstrate that the combination of neutron and X-ray tomography provides an important tool for the characterization of such valuable samples. These methods allow quantitative analyses of internal sample features and also provide a guide for further destructive analyses with little to no sample treatment, which maintains sample integrity, including minimizing the risk of potential contamination. Here, we present and review the results from four case studies of terrestrial impactites and meteorites along with their analytical setup. Using combined X-ray and neutron tomography, a Ni-Fe silicide spherule, that is, projectile material, was located within a Libyan Desert Glass sample and the distribution of hydrous phases was pinpointed in selected impactite samples from the Chicxulub IODP-ICDP Expedition 364 drill core and the Luizi impact structure, as well as in the Miller Range 03346 Martian meteorite. Neutron and X-ray tomography give complementary three-dimensional information about the distribution of different phases within a geologic sample. We demonstrate that these two methods can be successfully used to locate meteoritic material (i.e., from the impacting object) and hydrous components in terrestrial impactites and meteorites. This can help shed light on aqueous processes in the Solar System as well as the impact cratering process. Non-destructive methods like these will be important for up-coming sample return missions to characterize the returned samples and guide further destructive analyses. Combined neutron and X-ray imaging was used to locate projectile material and hydrous phases in meteorites and terrestrial impactites Locating and identifying projectile material can shed light on the impact cratering process Combined neutron/X-ray tomography can serve as a fundamental method for the characterization of material from (future) sample return missions

  • Fission-fragment yields and prompt-neutron multiplicity for Coulomb-induced fission of and
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. - 2469-9993 .- 2469-9985. ; 104:4
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Low-energy fission of and radioactive beams, provided by the Fragment Separator (FRS) of the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung facility (GSI), has been studied using the Reactions with Relativistic Radioactive Beams / Studies on Fission with Aladin (R3B/SOFIA) setup. The latter allows us, on an event-by-event basis, to simultaneously identify, in terms of their mass and atomic numbers, the fissioning nucleus in coincidence with both fission fragments after prompt-neutron emission. This article reports new results on elemental, isotonic, isobaric, and isotopic yields. Moreover, the high accuracy of our data allowed us to study in detail proton even-odd staggering, from elemental yields; neutron excess, from isotopic yields; and total prompt-neutron multiplicity, from the difference of masses of the fissioning nucleus and fission fragments. These results are then compared to previous experimental data in order to probe how these fission observables change as function of the excitation energy and atomic and neutron numbers of the compound nucleus.
