  • Baltic Hospitality from the Middle Ages to the Twentieth Century: Receiving Strangers in Northeastern Europe
  • 2022
  • Editorial collection (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Reflecting debate around hospitality and the Baltic Sea region, this open access book taps into wider discussions about reception, securitization, xenophobia, and attitudes towards migrants and strangers. Focusing on coastal and urban areas, the collection presents an overview of the responses of host communities to guests and strangers in the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea, from the early eleventh century to the twentieth. The chapters investigate why and how diverse categories of strangers, including migrants, war refugees, prisoners of war, merchants, missionaries, and vagrants, were portrayed as threats to local populations or as objects of their charity, shedding light on the current predicament facing many European countries. Emphasizing the Baltic Sea region as a uniquely multi-layered space of intercultural encounter and conflict, this book demonstrates the significance of Northeastern Europe to migration history.

  • Media Micro-Generations : How New Technologies Change Our Media Morality
  • 2018
  • In: Nordicom Review. - : Nordicom. - 1403-1108 .- 2001-5119. ; 39:2, s. 95-110
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This article proposes and explores the notion of “media micro-generations”. Based on a survey of values and norms in relation to media-related behaviour in Sweden, we identify statistically significant media micro-generations. Through an analysis of the technologies that were introduced during the formative years of different media micro-generations, we propose that media micro-generations are formed with the introduction of new media technologies. Thus, the existence of media micro-generations illustrates how rapid trans- formations of media technologies can shape the moral notions of narrow age groups. It also explains why many earlier studies have detected a rather large span of years (1970-1985, in between the TV generation and the internet generation) during which no generational identity seems to have been formed.

  • The relative importance of actual and potential competition: Empirical evidence from the pharmaceuticals market
  • 2003
  • In: Journal of industrial economics. - : Wiley. - 0022-1821 .- 1467-6451. ; 51, s. 455-467
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We study actual and potential competition and other factors that determine price paths of brand-name drugs in the Swedish pharmaceuticals market. The results indicate that the price of the incumbent product is lowered by potential competition, entry of (additional) generics, and the introduction of a so-called reference-price system. We also identify a 'ratchet' effect, through which price regulation makes entry-deterring limit-pricing credible.

  • Intensity and Variable Attention : Counter Narrating ADHD, from ADHD Deficits to ADHD Difference
  • 2023
  • In: British Journal of Social Work. - : Oxford University Press. - 0045-3102 .- 1468-263X. ; 53:8, s. 3647-3664
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Literature on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has historically come from a cognitive deficit approach and lacked community authorship. In contrast, this article utilises a neurodiversity framework to explore ADHD as a cognitive difference through ADHDers’ experiences. Specifically, here we analyse collective autoethnographic writings from neurodivergent academic researchers writing to one other about their experiences of intensity and variable attention or interest-based attention. Through the process of collective writing, we started to rename and restory our experiences, which has enabled us to understand intensity and variable attention as a valuable facet of human diversity, with both strengths and challenges. This project offers an example of how community-based research can elucidate individual experiences as ADHD/AuDHD researchers, facilitate exploration of varied experiences with intensity and attention and increase self-awareness and ability to give and receive neuroaffirmative support.
