- Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the association between consumers’ emotions towards emerging e-banking technology, perceived risk and subsequent intention to adopt emerging e-banking technology. Design/methodology/approach: An online questionnaire was used to collect data, which were analysed in a quantitative study. The final sample of 224 educated young consumers, familiar with emerging e-banking technology, allowed testing of the research hypotheses by applying confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling (SEM). Findings: The empirical results indicate that deterrence emotions and hedonic motivation are associated with consumers’ perceived risk and, subsequently, their intention to adopt emerging e-banking technology. Additionally, analysing the moderating role of hedonic motivation in the association between consumers’ deterrence emotions towards emerging e-banking technology and their perceived risk highlights the significant association of deterrence emotions with perceived risk, regardless of the presence of hedonic motivation. Originality/value: This study demonstrates the association between consumers’ emotions, perceived risk and subsequent intention to adopt emerging e-banking technology whilst underscoring the importance of distinguishing between different types of emotions and their corresponding appraisals.

- Successful implementation of e-banking technology depends on how consumers perceive the technology and how likely they are to adopt it. Although several studies have analysed the impact of some specific negative emotions, few studies examine a broad range of consumers’ negative emotions (i.e. both deterrence and loss emotions) arising from appraisals of e-banking technology. This study investigates the possible relationships between deterrence and loss emotions, and consumers’ behavioural intention to adopt emerging e-banking technology. Based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, partial least squares structural equation modelling was used to analyse a conceptual model and related hypotheses. The empirical evidence draws attention to the relationship between loss emotions and consumers’ behavioural intention to adopt emerging e-banking technology through effort expectancy and performance expectancy, respectively.

- Banks appear to be interested in enhancing their effectiveness and efficiency by developing e-banking technology, i.e., the provision of banking products and services through electronic channels. However, the successful implementation of e-banking technology depends on how consumers perceive such technology and how they are probably provoked to adopt it. Considering emerging e-banking technologies, knowledge of the salient influential factors affecting consumer adoption is crucial for banks. Studies have analysed these factors from different perspectives, such as attribute- and barrier-based perspectives. Attribute-based factors pertain to the perceived or expected characteristics of e-banking technology, whereas barrier-based factors refer to factors that can hinder or delay the adoption of e-banking technology. Despite the absence of consensus on these factors, there is a predominant focus on the functional aspects of this technology, often neglecting the emotional experience of consumers. Consumers’ emotions in the e-banking context mainly refer to hedonic motivation, defined as positive emotions such as fun, pleasure, and enjoyment arising from the usage of e-banking technology. While examining hedonic motivation has provided valuable insights into the adoption of such technology, further studies are required to examine the relationship among consumers’ emotions, particularly negative ones arising from different kinds of appraisals. Accordingly, this thesis aims to examine the influence of consumers’ emotions towards emerging e-banking technology on their intention to adopt such technology, with a specific emphasis on negative emotions from attribute and barrier-based perspectives. Applying Structural equation modelling (SEM), the empirical results draw attention to the influential role of different types of negative emotions in the adoption of emerging e-banking technology. From the attribute-based perspective, the empirical results demonstrate an association between loss emotions and consumers’ behavioural intention to adopt emerging e-banking technology, through effort expectancy and performance expectancy. From a barrier-based perspective, the results indicate that deterrence emotions can be positively associated with consumers’ perceived risk. This, in turn, influences their behavioural intention to adopt emerging e-banking technology. The results also reveal the influence of deterrence emotions on consumers’ perceived risk, even in the presence of positive emotions. These results suggest the importance of considering various categories of negative emotions when examining consumers’ intention to adopt emerging e-banking technology.

- The Schottky-barrier height of a number of metals (Ti, Ni, Cu, and Au) on n- and p-type Si-terminated 6H-SiC has been measured in the temperature range 150-500 K. It is found that the barrier height to n-type 6H-SiC does not exhibit a temperature dependence, while for p-type 6H-SiC the change in the barrier height with temperature follows very closely the change in the indirect energy gap in 6H-SiC. These results are inconsistent with models of Schottky-barrier formation based on the concept of a charge neutrality level. Furthermore, the present results cannot be reconciled with a defect pinning mechanism, contrary to the conclusions of earlier studies on III-V compound semiconductors. We suggest that chemical bonding at the metal-semiconductor interface plays an important role in determining the Schottky-barrier height.

- The accelerated move toward the adoption of the Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) paradigm has resulted in numerous shortcomings as far as security is concerned. One of the IIoT affecting critical security threats is what is termed as the false data injection (FDI) attack. The FDI attacks aim to mislead the industrial platforms by falsifying their sensor measurements. FDI attacks have successfully overcome the classical threat detection approaches. In this article, we present a novel method of FDI attack detection using autoencoders (AEs). We exploit the sensor data correlation in time and space, which in turn can help identify the falsified data. Moreover, the falsified data are cleaned using the denoising AEs (DAEs). Performance evaluation proves the success of our technique in detecting FDI attacks. It also significantly outperforms a support vector machine (SVM)-based approach used for the same purpose. The DAE data cleaning algorithm is also shown to be very effective in recovering clean data from corrupted (attacked) data. © 2014 IEEE.

- Positive behaviour support (PBS) has been receiving increased attention recently but has not been studied from the perspectives of staff and students in Sweden. This article presents an integrative and systematic literature review focusing on international research concerning staff and student perspectives on the effects of PBS. The aim was to describe staff and student perspectives regarding PBS and its effects, between 2000 and 2022. The findings indicate that there is a lack of empirical research involving the combination of staff and student perspectives of the effects of PBS. The existing research is mostly from elementary schools age range 6 to 13. However, the findings suggest that there have been several studies that aim to gain a better understanding of teachers’ and students’ perspectives of how PBS enhances student social relationships, lowers problem behaviour and increases academic performance. According to the current findings, the success of the PBS approach is greatly influenced by the efficacy of execution and the leadership of the schools support for implementation.

- Background. Samis are indigenous people in north Europe. In the territory called Sapmi (Lapland), reindeer herding is the traditional base for the Sami economy. The relation between living conditions and positive health of the Swedish Samis has been sparsely studied. As health is closely linked to sense of coherence (SOC), an understanding of the background factors to SOC may contribute knowledge that might be useful in promoting living conditions and health. Methods. The study examines relations between the level of SOC and background factors from surveys in a Sami population (n = 613) in comparison to a non-Sami population (n = 525) in Sweden, and in comparison between 2 subsamples of Samis, that is, herders and non-herders. Results. There are more similarities than differences between the Sami and non-Sami populations. However, dividing the Sami population, reindeer herders had significantly lower SOC, and in specific the subcomponent manageability, that is, less ability to use available resources to meet different demands in life, compared to non-herders. Conclusions. In addition to age and health, predictors of SOC are related to the life form of reindeer husbandry and the belonging to the herding community.

- Rapporten lyfter fram ett antal anomalier och utmaningar som Försvarsmakten hotas av vid övergången från ett invasions- till ett insatsförsvar. De nya krigen kännetecknas av utdragna konflikter med kombinationer av militära och andra maktmedel och processer där hotet att sätta in militära resurser är vanligare än faktisk väpnad strid. Detta skapar behov av lokalkunskap, förhandlingsskicklighet, socialpsykologisk kunskap och kännedom om gradvis konfliktlösning. Frågor om etik och legitimitet accentueras. Sammantaget är de krav på förmågor som ställs bredare än tidigare och omfattar allt från krishantering vid låga konfliktnivåer, till väpnad strid mot en avancerad motståndare, nationellt som internationellt. Vilka visioner och mål som skall prägla det svenska militära engagemanget utomlands, och vad svenska soldater och officerare ska uträtta är oklart. Med dagens neddragningar av försvaret kan det dock bli problematiskt för Sverige att leva upp till både sina åtaganden internationellt, och bilden av sig själva som en modern försvarsmakt. Så länge denna fråga är otillräckligt besvarad riskerar också personalförsörjningen till Försvarsmakten att förbli osäker, och i avsaknad av tydliga huvudmannakrav bestäms en stor del av utvecklingen av verkställarens tolkning av verkligheten.
