- English Title: "Geographical Uncertainties: Four Theses on Russia, Europe and Asia"Traditionally accepted explanations of the question of whether Russia belongs to Europe or Asia include: Russia is a European country; Russia is different from Asia; Russia is a Eurasian country. Each of these views contains some truth, but all of then need to be further refined. The following theses will contribute to further understanding of the Russia’s belonging to Europe or Asia: 1) Russia is not only a European country, but is also a European empire. 2) Radical advocates of Eurasian doctrine do not oppose European nature of Russia, but speak against the view that Russia is an empire. 3) The advocates of Eurasian doctrine claim thatRussia is a part of Eurasia and not Asia. Advocates of Eurasian doctrine see Eurasia as a civilization completely different from either Europe or Asia. 4) The advocates of Eurasian doctrine view Russia — Eurasia as a potential colony, and Russia's mission is to be an anti-colonial leader.

Rapid inclusion characterisation by pulse distribution analysis optical emission spectroscopy-recent development

- The purpose of the work is to further develop and validate the optical emission method pulse distribution analysis (PDA) for rapid inclusion characterisation in steel production. The experimental work was focused on investigation of several operational parameters: spark energy, spark frequency and time gating of signal acquisition. The results showed that a low spark energy improves the detection limit, but at the expense of measuring statistics due to a smaller sample volume. The measuring frequency proved to have no significant influence on the analytical results, but several existing instruments cannot handle the highest spark frequencies above about 300 Hz in PDA mode due to limitations in the electronics. Investigation of time gating (TRS) gave only a marginal improvement in the detection limit of Si outliers above the metallic content. The work also revealed that there is a risk to detect "false" outliers due to asymmetric intensity distributions. This has resulted in the development of more advanced algorithms for outlier detection, increasing the accuracy of the method. Another limitation found is that the particle number density must not exceed about 10 000 inclusions/mm3 for the method to effectively detect single inclusions. A method to overcome this limitation has been suggested, but not yet evaluated. The accuracy of quantitative determination of the Al content in inclusions has been verified by reference methods. In conclusion, it has been demonstrated that state-of-the-art PDA is a very powerful technique for rapid inclusion characterisation in steels. Furthermore, the speed of analysis is sufficiently high for process feedback and controllable.

Sexualized Female Bodies : Gender Implications on the Characterization of Lengmo in Hong Kong Print Media

- In recent years, lengmo has emerged as a popular and controversial subject in Hong Kong society. Literally meaning naïve young model, lengmo is a relatively new occupation that allows young women who lack the figure of professional models to enter the entertainment industry. These young women, mostly in sexy appearance, become a social phenomenon propelled by local print media. This paper analyzes how Hong Kong print media characterize lengmo by endorsing them as sexualized subjects. These characterizations imply the discourse of sexualizing female bodies. Although seemingly pushing the expression of female sexuality into social spaces, they do not liberate women in pursuit of sexual autonomy. Such implication entails the patriarchal ideology in which the operation of local print media is grounded.

Study on conducting characteristics of electrical trees in cross-linked polyethylene cable insulation

- The conducting characteristics of two typical electrical trees in cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable insulation are studied by a combination of optical microscopy observation, partial discharge measurement and con-focal Raman spectroscopy analysis. Although they are grown under similar conditions, these two trees display very different shapes. One is a typical branch-pine tree grown at 9 kV, and the other is a branch tree grown at 11 kV. The growth and the partial discharge regularities show obvious differences. The disordered graphitic carbon is condensed in the main tree channels of the branch-pine tree. From the relative intensity of the graphitic carbon G band to D band, the graphitic domain is estimated to be about 8 nm in size. The tree channel resistance per unit length is less than 10 Ω· μm-1, which is sufficient to prevent the partial discharge from developing within the tree structure. The branch-pine tree shows the features of the conducting tree. The fluorescence background is observed in the channels of branch tree, which shows the existence of the products of the material degradation, but no disordered graphitic carbon is observed in these tree channels. These tree channels display obvious non-conducting characteristics, which is not sufficient to prevent the continuous effect of the partial discharges. Finally, a single channel growth model is proposed for the conducting and non-conducting trees grown in XLPE cable insulation. Based on the equivalent circuit theory, the growth mechanisms of the two trees with different conducting characteristics in XLPE cable insulation are discussed.

- Methyl parathion hydrolase （ MPH ） as and bovine serum albumin （BSA） as hybrid proteins, the target protein, bovine hemoglobin （BHb）, myoglobin （Mb） enzyme thermal analysis was used to determine the best separation condition of methyl parathion hydrolase through the study of pH and the NaC1 concentration in mobile phase. The results showed that at pH 8.0, NaC1 concentration of 0.8 mol/L, the separation condition of methyl parathion hydrolase was the best which consistent with the condition reported in the literature.

- 【Abstract】Objective To investigate and analyze the Chinese medicine constitution types of pregnant metaphase women in Fuzhou of China. Methods Cross-sectional study and stratified sampling were used. A scale, , was as a tool for investigation. 1000 scale copies were handed out. 989 scale copies were got after excluding the scale copies with logic error. Constitution types were described by constituent ratio. Results In Fuzhou, the Chinese medicine constitution types of pregnant metaphase women were as following: Yang-deficiency type was 28.5%, damp-heat type was 25.5%, Yin-deficiency type was 25.2%, Qi-depression type and Qi-deficiency type were 23.1% respectively, gentleness type was 20.2%, stasis type was 19.1%, phlegm type was 10.9%, and special intrinsic type was 7.0%. The front three constitution types in different age groups: 20 years old～group: Qi-deficiency type was 29.4%, gentleness type was 24.8%, Yin-deficiency type and yang-deficiency type were 24.2% respectively; 25 years old～group:Yang-deficiency type was 27.6%, Yin-deficiency type and damp-heat type were 23.3% respectively; 30 years old～group: damp-heat type was 34.4%, Yang-deficiency type was 33.9%, Yin-deficiency type was 30.8%. The distribution of constitution types in different education background groups was similar as that of total constitution types of pregnant metaphase women. Conclusions The constitution type’s characteristics of pregnant metaphase women in Fuzhou were inclined to deficiency, heat and damp, and Qi-depression. Guided by the theory of “Preventive Treatment of Disease”, the staff working on antepartum care may provide targeted care according to different body constitution types of pregnant women.
