    • Jag ritar, bloggar, gör publikationer och zines och byter dem med människor över hela världen. Jag använder även publikationsformatet som ett sätt att samla mitt arbete och att kommunicera det. Publikationerna blir en slags flytande pågående utställning. I draw, blog, make publications and zines and share them with people all over the world. I also use the format of publication as a way to collect my work and communicate it. The publications become a kind of liquid ongoing exhibition.

  • Konstnärligt arbete (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This is my zine production for 2017. I have continued to work with the tumblr I started last year (Visual Notes), where I post one drawing a day. Some of the drawings from this process then go in to my publica¬tions. In May this year I participated with a table in the zine- and independent publish¬ing fair ”Salon de L’Auto-Édition Anti- Aufklärung” in Paris. For this I produced 3 zines (Dolphin Dog, Notes from:Berlin and It´s a drawing I think) to use for trades for the HDK Zine Archive.

  • Identification and follow-up of obesity in ten-year-old school children.
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: International journal of pediatric obesity : IJPO : an official journal of the International Association for the Study of Obesity. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1747-7174. ; 3:2, s. 102-8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • OBJECTIVE: Growth surveillance of children in school health services is a routine in Sweden. We describe the effect at follow-up of an overt identification of obesity in school children. METHODS: Follow-up data were collected in two populations of ten-year-old children with obesity. Children in the study group belonged to a cohort born in 1990. Here the presence of obesity had been identified at the routine growth screening, and intervention activities against obesity had been actively offered. Controls belonged to a cohort born in 1989. RESULTS: Of the 176 children with obesity, 91 were in the study group (41 girls) and 85 (44 girls) in the control group. No differences were found between the groups in age, gender or body mass index at baseline. At follow-up, after one to two years, children in the study group had a modest but significantly more pronounced decrease in the relative body mass index, compared with controls. The mean difference between the populations in body mass index standard deviation score (z-score) after adjustment for baseline body mass index and follow-up time was -0.14 (95% confidence interval: -0.25 to -0.02; P=0.027). Socioeconomic status, gender, follow-up time and group were independent predictors for change in body mass index z-score. CONCLUSIONS: To identify children with obesity in a routine school health survey may be a crucial initial step in the management of childhood obesity.

  • Best management of patients with an acute sore throat - a critical analysis of current evidence and a consensus of experts from different countries and traditions
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Infectious Diseases. - : Informa UK Limited. - 2374-4235 .- 2374-4243. ; 55:6, s. 384-395
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BackgroundThere is a very large body of publications discussing the management of patients with an acute sore throat. Advocates for a restrictive antibiotic policy and advocates for a more liberal use of antibiotics emphasise different and valid arguments and to date have not been able to unite in a consensus. Contradicting guidelines based on the same body of knowledge is not logical, may cause confusion and cause unwanted variation in clinical management.MethodsIn multiple video meetings and email correspondence from March to November 2022 and finally in a workshop at the annual meeting for the North American Primary Care Group in November 2022, experts from different countries representing different traditions agreed on how the current evidence should be interpreted.ResultsThis critical analysis identifies that the problem can be resolved by introducing a new triage scheme considering both the acute risk for suppurative complications and sepsis as well as the long-term risk of developing rheumatic fever.ConclusionsThe new triage scheme may solve the long-standing problem of advocating for a restrictive use of antibiotics while also satisfying concerns that critically ill patients might be missed with severe consequences. We acknowledge that the perspective of this problem is vastly different between high- and low-income countries. Furthermore, we discuss the new trend which allows nurses and pharmacists to independently manage these patients and the increased need for safety netting required for such management.

  • Effect of promoting current local research activities on large monitors on the population's interest in health-related research: a randomised controlled trial.
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: BMJ open. - : BMJ. - 2044-6055. ; 9:8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The objectives of this study were threefold: to estimate people's interest in health-related research, to understand to what extent people appreciate being actively informed about current local health-related research and to investigate whether their interest can be influenced by advertising local current health-related research using large TV monitors.Randomised controlled trial using a stepped wedge design. The emergency department waiting room at two public hospitals in northern Queensland, Australia.Waiting patients and their accompanying friends and relatives in the emergency department waiting room not requiring immediate medical attention.A TV monitor advertising local current health-related research.OR for the effect of intervention on changing the interest in health-related research compared with a control group while adjusting for gender, age and socioeconomic standard. The intervention significantly increased the short-term interest in health-related research with an OR of 1.3 (1.1-1.7, p=0.0063). We also noted that being female and being older was correlated to a higher interest in health-related research CONCLUSIONS: This study found that proactive information significantly increased the general populations' interest in health-related research. There are reasonable set up costs involved but the costs for maintaining the system were very low. Hence, it seems reasonable that research-active organisations should give much higher priority to this type of activity.ACTRN12617001085369.

  • Group C beta hemolytic Streptococci as a potential pathogen in patients presenting with an uncomplicated acute sore throat–a systematic literature review and meta-analysis
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Scandinavian Journal of Primary Health Care. - : Informa UK Limited. - 0281-3432 .- 1502-7724. ; 38:2, s. 226-37
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: The pathogenicity of beta-hemolytic Streptococcus group C (GCS) in patients attending for an uncomplicated acute sore throat is unknown and it was the objective to clarify this. Design: Systematic literature review with meta-analysis. Setting Medline and Scopus were searched from inception to February 2019, with searches of reference lists, Subjects case-control studies stating prevalence of GCS in patients as well as healthy controls presented for children and adults separately. Studies including patients already treated with antibiotics and studies focused on patients with HIV, malignancy or immunosuppression were not included. Main outcome measures Pooled prevalence of GCS was compared between patients and controls using chi-square and was further explored by calculating the positive etiologic predictive value (P-EPV) showing the post-test probability of a link between a sore throat and the bacterial finding. P-EPV for GCS was compared with that for group A Streptococci (GAS) using figures from the same publications and patients. Results: Eleven studies were included. The prevalence of GCS among patients versus controls was similar in children (3.15 versus 2.87%, p =.44) but for adults higher in patients (11%) than in controls (5.6%) (p <.0001). The P-EPV for finding GCS in children with a sore throat was 9.3% (0.0–41%). The corresponding P-EPV for GCS in adults with a sore throat was 53% (36–67%) while the corresponding P-EPV for GAS in adults was 94% (90–96%). Conclusions: GCS do not seem associated with the uncomplicated acute sore throat in children but there is support for an association in adults being weaker than for GAS. A possible consequence is to ignore GCS in otherwise healthy patients at their first visit for an uncomplicated sore throat. This would enable a stronger focus on the use of modern point of care tests (POCTs) to detect GAS.Key points There is no current consensus on the pathogenicity of group C beta-hemolytic Streptococcus (GCS) in patients attending for an uncomplicated acute sore throat. This systematic literature review concludes it is unlikely that GCS is involved in the uncomplicated sore throat in otherwise healthy children. This meta-analysis found a moderate link between GCS and the uncomplicated sore throat in adults. The link in adults between GCS and the sore throat is much weaker than the corresponding link for group A beta-hemolytic Streptococcus.

  • Improving antibiotics targeting using PCR point-of-care testing for group A streptococci in patients with uncomplicated acute sore throat
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Australian Journal of General Practice. - 2208-794X .- 2208-7958. ; 50:1-2, s. 76-83
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background and objective Evidence supports some beneficial effects of antibiotics prescribed to patients with a sore throat and proven presence of group A streptococci (GAS). Methods A total of 283 patients were included from North and North-West Queensland, Australia, at their first presentation for uncomplicated acute sore throat. Patterns of antibiotic prescribing were explored before and after testing for GAS using a rapid point-of-care polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Results The results of the study showed the Australian Therapeutic Guidelines were often not adhered to. The PCR test reduced the proportion of patients prescribed antibiotics from 46% to 40%. The decision to prescribe antibiotics was changed in 30% of patients (P <0.001): before testing only 40% of patients prescribed antibiotics had a positive GAS PCR while this increased to 97% after testing. Discussion An easy-to-use point-of-care test to detect GAS allows better targeting of antibiotic prescribing in patients with an uncomplicated acute sore throat.

  • Microbiologic diagnostic tests when asymptomatic carriers are present. Aspects of the use of conventional throat and nasopharyngeal culture as examples
  • 2001
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Carriers of potentially pathogenic bacteria simultaneously ill from a viral infection complicatethe diagnostic procedure in respiratory tract infections. The present statistical methodsavailable to evaluate common diagnostic tests either ignore the phenomenon of carriers orprovide test characteristics that are difficult to apply in clinical decision making. In thisdissertation, the influence of carriers on the diagnostic process has been elucidated.· The etiologic predictive value (EPV) is a new statistical method developed to predictdisease caused by the bacteriological findings, taking carriers into consideration. Tocalculate EPV, it is necessary to have the proportion of positive tests among patients, theproportion of positive tests among a healthy control population and the sensitivity of thetest. This enables calculating the positive and negative EPV with a 95% confidenceinterval.· A throat culture was found to be a reliable indicator for illness caused by group A beta-haemolyticstreptococci (GABHS) in adult patients with a sore throat. Positive EPV(PEPV) was 99% (95% confidence interval is 94-100%). A seasonal variation, however, was found in pre-school children (0-6 years of age). A throat culture with growth ofGABHS was found to be reliable only in the winter season, with a PEPV of 94% (75-100%) as opposed to only 61% (0-91%) in the summer. However, our data did not permitus to conclude that this seasonal variation will be found every year.· Findings of Haemophilus influenzae in a nasopharyngeal culture, taken from patients witha sore throat, may indicate the true etiology of the disease. The prediction in regard todisease caused by H. influenzae (PEPV) was 93% (73-99%) for adults ³16 years of ageand 86% (28-99%) for pre-school children 0-6 years of age.· In adults with a long-standing cough combined with other symptoms of a respiratory tractinfection, it was found that growth of H. influenzae in a nasopharyngeal culture wouldindicate the etiology for infection with PEPV 90% (30-99%). Growth of Moraxellacatarrhalis in a nasopharyngeal sample, taken from a pre-school child with a long-standingcough 0-6 years of age, will indicate the etiology for infection with a PEPV of90% (66-99%).· A questionnaire sent to different microbiologic laboratories revealed a substantialvariation between different geographical areas propensity to perform a throat ornasopharyngeal culture. There was also a large variation between the different areas in theoutcome of these cultures. It could be shown that the variation in outcome of the culturesmakes it difficult to directly apply predictive values calculated from many scientificstudies.
