Pole position of Λ(1405) measured in d(K−,n)πΣ reactions

- We measured a set of π±Σ∓, π0Σ0, and π−Σ0 invariant mass spectra below and above the K¯N mass threshold in K−-induced reactions on deuteron. The measured πΣ mass spectral shape is well reproduced via the two-step mechanism, i.e., a neutron knocked out at a forward angle from a deuteron by an incident K−, with the K¯ recoiled backward reacting with the residual nucleon to produce π and Σ. We deduced the S-wave K¯N→πΣ and K¯N→K¯N scattering amplitudes in the isospin 0 channel in the framework of a K¯N and πΣ coupled channel. We find that a resonance pole corresponding to Λ(1405) is located at 1417.7−7.4+6.0 (fitting errors)−1.0+1.1 (systematic errors) + [−26.1−7.9+6.0 (fitting errors)−2.0+1.7 (systematic errors)] i MeV/c2, closer to the K¯N mass threshold than the value determined by the Particle Data Group. © 2022 The Author

- PIXE-analyser kan utföras med utvecklad analysuppställning med noggrannhet och precision av c:a 10 % och med hög analyskapacitet. Ett dataprogram för evaluering av räntgenspektra presenteras. Inverkan av provtjocklek vid PIXE-analys av inhomogena prov har studerats och korrektioner föreslås. Fluorinnehållet i filterprov har bestämts, samtidigt med PIXE-analys, genom utnyttjande av en kärnfysikalisk reaktion som ger resultat med god noggrannhet och precision. Svetsaerosoler har karakteriserats m.h.a. PIXE, ESCA och TEM/EDAX. En uppställning för insamling av svetsaerosoler under utveckling och hittillsvarande resultat indikerar representativ provinsamling med god reproducerbarhet.

- This paper considers a simple model of a capacity constrained production-inventory system with Poisson demand. The system is controlled by an S policy. The production time for a unit is modelled as a gamma distributed stochastic variable. Using M/G/1 queuing theory it is very easy to evaluate holding and backorder costs and optimise the ordering policy. The suggested model may be useful when evaluating investments in production.

- High-frequency water quality measurements in streams and rivers have expanded in scope and sophistication during the last two decades. Existing technology allows in situ automated measurements of water quality constituents, including both solutes and particulates, at unprecedented frequencies from seconds to subdaily sampling intervals. This detailed chemical information can be combined with measurements of hydrological and biogeochemical processes, bringing new insights into the sources, transport pathways, and transformation processes of solutes and particulates in complex catchments and along the aquatic continuum. Here, we summarize established and emerging high-frequency water quality technologies, outline key high-frequency hydrochemical data sets, and review scientific advances in key focus areas enabled by the rapid development of high-frequency water quality measurements in streams and rivers. Finally, we discuss future directions and challenges for using high-frequency water quality measurements to bridge scientific and management gaps by promoting a holistic understanding of freshwater systems and catchment status, health, and function.

- Compared to all other countries, the self-governing organisation of the Swedish Student Union has a unique position concerning its influence on Administration, Government and Parliament. Through the Teacher Union’s strike of 1966, its activities have become known in Germany. In particular, the students’ ability of organising lessons over an extended period of time has contributed to their popularity among some educators in Germany. Furthermore, all committee work of some import is passed to the Student Union for consideration and comments. Hence, Swedish student seem to be involved in all central question of import for external and internal work organisation. Many of their opinions have been integrated into Parliament decisions. Finally, Swedish students participate in teacher conferences on a regular basis and thereby contribute to educational decision making as well as to the reformulation of the curriculum. In principle, they are working for the continuing reformation of the Swedish School system.
