  • Associations between 24 h Movement Behavior and Mental Health in Office Workers.

    • The associations between 24 h movement behavior, i.e., the way people distribute their time in different movement-related behaviors, on mental health are not well understood. This study applied a compositional data analysis approach to explore cross-sectional associations between device-measured moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA), light intensity physical activity (LIPA), sedentary behavior (SED), self-reported time in bed and mental health outcomes, i.e., depression or anxiety symptoms, burnout, mental wellbeing and stress, in office workers. ActiGraph accelerometers were worn for 24 h for at least 4 days to assess MVPA, LIPA, and SED. Sleep diaries were used in addition to identify time in bed. Analytic sample sizes for the different outcomes ranged from N = 345-370 participants. In this population of office workers with high levels of MVPA, the entire movement behavior composition was not associated to any of the mental health outcomes, but MVPA relative to all other behaviors was positively associated with mental wellbeing. This confirms the importance of MVPA for health relative to other movement-related behaviors.

    • Digitalization has changed the preconditions for most media in recent decades, offering a rare opportunity to develop and change traditional media and the media market. The book medium is no exception. What is to be considered a book is being challenged, or, for some, threatened. As the e-book market grows there is, as with other media, still ambiguity in the direction of the development and the normalization of the e-book concept. This article discusses the extent to which physical form, genre and utilization are important when defining the book medium in the late age of print, contributing to the debate regarding the future of the book. The article is based on interviews with four prominent scholars in the research area of the digitization of text media. The findings show that, despite good arguments for how the e-book should be defined, its definition is highly context-dependent. However, as the e-book moves towards more enhanced digital versions and away from digitized ones, genre will grow increasingly important for the definition of a ‘book’ in the digital environment. This means that, in moving towards a more converging understanding of the future of the book, its definitions will diverge.

    • A state-of-the-art waveguide integrated 2SB Schottky receiver operating in the 320-360 GHz band is demonstrated. The unique receiver topology utilizes a low RF and LO VSWR design leading to better mixer performance and superior response for the radiometer system in general. Characterization of the receiver system will be presented.

  • Advanced Schottky Diode Receiver Front-Ends for Terahertz Applications

    • This thesis treats the development of high frequency circuits for increased functionality of terahertz receiver front-ends based on room temperature Schottky diode technology. This includes the study of novel circuit integration schemes, packaging concepts as well as new measurement and characterisation techniques.As the main result, a novel broadband waveguide integrated sideband separating (2SB) receiver topology for future Earth observation submillimetre wave instruments is proposed. The 2SB receiver topology has an inherent low RF and LO port voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and high sideband ratio (SBR). It is based on subharmonic (x2) Schottky diode double sideband (DSB) mixers with embedded IF low noise amplifiers (LNA's) and LO and RF 90 degree waveguide hybrids. Access to the IF IQ-paths makes it possible to implement phase and amplitude imbalance compensation schemes. Sideband separation is done in the analog domain by the use of an IF 90 degree hybrid or in the digital domain by using an IQ-correlator spectrometer. The use of embedded LNA's reduces the IF losses and leads to a low ripple and broadband response.Measured results on a prototype 2SB receiver operating in the 320 GHz to 360 GHz frequency range show an untuned SBR of 15 dB over the whole band and mixer noise consistent with the optimal performance of a DSB mixer. The LO return loss is measured to be approximately 15 dB (broadband) and the RF return loss is estimated to have similar performance. A 340 GHz DSB receiver with an embedded custom designed 3-15 GHz LNA has also been developed. By co-simulation of the mixer and LNA using a simple mixer noise model it is shown that accurate prediction of the receiver noise response is possible. The DSB receiver exhibits ultra low noise over the 12 GHz IF bandwidth, with a minimum input receiver noise temperature of 870 K (DSB).Two novel differential line phase shifters based on stepped impedance and coupled-line filter structures are proposed. The filters have a minimum lateral distribution making them well suited for use in submillimetre wave circuits. A method for TRL-calibration of terahertz monolithic integrated circuits (TMIC's) is also proposed and demonstrated. The method allows for embedded S-parameter characterisation of waveguide integrated TMIC devices and circuits.

    • This paper presents a computational model of the processing of dynamic spatial relations occurring in an embodied robotic interaction setup. A complete system is introduced that allows autonomous robots to produce and interpret dynamic spatial phrases (in English) given an environment of moving objects. The model unites two separate research strands: computational cognitive semantics and on commonsense spatial representation and reasoning. The model for the first time demonstrates an integration of these different strands.

    • We present a system for generating and understanding of dynamic and static spatial relations in robotic interaction setups. Robots describe an environment of moving blocks using English phrases that include spatial relations such as "across" and "in front of". We evaluate the system in robot-robot interactions and show that the system can robustly deal with visual perception errors, language omissions and ungrammatical utterances.
