    • Multiuser detectors (MUD) can significantly increase the spectral efficiency of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems. In this paper, we present a symbol-level fixed-point Successive Interference Canceller (SIC) that is feasible to implement in Rapid Single Flux Quantum (RSFQ) superconducting electronics. A design procedure for finding the precision of the fixed-point SIC is introduced. A set of quantizers is found out with this procedure. By applying those quantizers, the simulation results show that a fixed-point multistage SIC performs the same as a floating-point decorrelator, which increases system capacity by a factor of four for the uplink model used in this paper.

    • As a highly automated power transmission network, the smart grid can monitor each user and grid node and connect different devices to improve the function of conventional power network significantly, but this heterogeneous network also brings greater security risks, attackers can use vulnerabilities existing in smart grids. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) constitutes an important means to protect critical information from being leaked. in a smart grid environment. In this paper, we proposed an AMI intrusion detection model for smart grid, which is widely distributed in the three-layer architecture of the grid system through particle swarm algorithm combined with random forest method. To improve the model’s accuracy, this paper adopts the dynamic weight formula and various adaptive mutation methods to optimize the iterative process of the algorithm. Besides, we use parallel strategy to make up for the lack of precision in the mutation of the algorithm. The AM-PPSO algorithm proposed in this paper performs well in the CEC2017 benchmark function test, effectively ensuring the improvement of the RF classifier. Finally, we use NPL-KDD, UNSW-UB15, and X-IIoTID standard intrusion detection datasets to simulate, results show that our model achieves 97–99% classification of the three datasets. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

    • Abstract: Describes 12 members of staff’s views of their job and tasks in an intensive care unit of a middle-sized Swedish hospital. Open-ended questions were asked and the interviews were analysed using thematic technique. The character of the work and the work tasks was the key variable in the analysis. The participants thought of intensive care as turbulent and ambiguous, powerful but also menacing and a concept comprised of a dichotomy of fundamental values. The work task of the participants was conceptualised in terms of managing the health status of the patient, seeking to appreciate the patient’s needs and ensuring that the staff worked harmoniously and effectively as a team. Speculates that the existence of a real dichotomy in fundamental values might be caused by the difficult medical reality on the ward. The study confirms a necessity for a two-dimensional quality system where the deeper dimension deals with the disparate set of meaning status in the future perspective.
