- The Swedish School for Library and Information Studies in Boras - changes and developments The change and development from a library school to a fully-fledged academic institute for teaching and research has been a major challenge for the Boras school during the 1990's. The Swedish School for Library and Information Studies in Boras now encompasses the Department for Library and Information Studies at Göteborg University including the Ph.D.-programme, which started there in 1993. The change entailed a revision of the curriculum and a new Master's programme that is currently producing more than 100 Master's theses a year. The new Ph.D. programme has already resulted in six Ph.D.s and a recent expansion from one to five chairs paves the way for future developments. The research profile and organization of the programme in four subdivisions cover the major areas of the field with some emphasis on information seeking and related areas. However there are still some areas where research activities are limited and many challenges are still awaiting. Areas under development within the school are information management, bibliometrics and knowledge organization. The labour market is quite good and a shortage of librarians and information specialists may well lie ahead, as retirements will increase during the next two decades.

- Skolbiblioteket som en katedral, med dess strama linjer och andäktiga tystnad. Eller som en öppen basar med ett myller av tillrop och färggranna varor. Inom forskningsprojektet Lärande via skolbiblioteket söker man kunskap om kur skolbiblioteket kan stödja barns ock ungdomars förmåga att analysera, reflektera och kommunicera. Kanhända att denna forskning medför en ny metafor, som bättre illustrerar skolbibliotekets möjliga och önskvärda funktion än vad "katedralen" respektive "basaren" gör hoppas projektledarna Mikael Alexandersson och Louise Limberg.

- Method and arrangement for deciding the direction to a flickering source in relation to a measurement point in an electrical network with alternating current with a network frequency with low-frequency amplitude variations from the flickering source. The method includes the steps: recording an amplitude-modulated current signal having signals that originate from the network frequency and the low-frequency amplitude variations in the current signal; recording an amplitude-modulated voltage signal having signals that originate from the network frequency and the low-frequency amplitude variations in the voltage signal; creating a flicker power with a sign value by multiplication of the low-frequency amplitude variations in the current signal and the low-frequency amplitude variations in the voltage signal, and analyzing the sign value, with the sign value indicating in which direction the flickering source is to be found in relation to the measurement point.
