  • Quantitative Imaging Using a 2.45 GHzPlanar Camera
  • 2007
  • In: 5th World Congress on Industrial Process Tomography, Bergen, Norway. - Bergen, Norway. - 9780853163213
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Microwave imaging is recognized as an efficient diagnostic modality for no invasively visualizingdielectric contrasts in non metallic bodies. The usefulness of this modality results from the existingcorrelation between dielectric properties and quantities of practical relevance for industrial orbiomedical applications. At the beginning of the 80’s, Supélec developed a 2.45 GHz planarmicrowave camera, in the 90’s the group developed algorithms for quantitative microwave imaging. The purpose of this study is to investigate the capability of these existing materials, or an extendedversion of it, in terms of quantitative imaging of high contrast inhomogeneous object for application ofbreast cancer detection.

  • SafetyChip : A Time Monitoring and Policing Device
  • 2005
  • In: Proceedings of the ACM SIGAda Annual International Conference; SIGAda. - : Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). - 1595931856 ; , s. 63-68
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The SafetyChip proposes a strategy where parts of the effort invested in the formal verification during the development of a system can be reused during the system's operation. The strength in a formal verification of a system is that a system can mathematically be proven to fulfil certain requirements, e.g., timing requirements. The SafetyChip uses information from verification to monitor and police a system during run-time. The monitoring is done by surveillance of the applications communication with the run-time kernel. If deviance from the predefined verified behaviour is detected, the SafetyChip can signal (police) this in different ways, e.g., by generating interrupts the system can respond to. In our experiments we use systems written in Ravenscar compliant Ada code and have automated model extraction from source code to the models used to verify the system. This paper presents the functionality and design of the SafetyChip. Properties of an implementation of the Safety-Chip are also presented.

  • Potential carbon dioxide emission reduction in China by using Swedish bioenergy technologies
  • 2006
  • In: GHGT-8 Conference, 19-22 June 2006.
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • During recent years, an increased attention has been given by industries and governments from industrialized as well as developing countries to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the clean development mechanism (CDM). As China has increasing demands on bioenergy and Sweden has good practices and competence in developing and utilizing bioenergy technologies, this paper studies the resulting consequence if implementing Swedish bioenergy technologies in China. The potential CO2 emission reduction from each technology in China is studied. A few priority areas for future CDM projects selection by using Swedish technologies are recommended.

  • Remote system for patient monitoring using bluetooth
  • 2002
  • In: Proceedings of IEEE SensorsVolume 1, Issue 1, 2002. - 0780374541 ; , s. 304-307
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The aim of this study is to design and develop a low-power wireless A/D-converter that should be easy to integrate with other technologies or infrastructures at a low cost. This transmitting unit should be able to replace many of the signal wires between biomedical sensors connecting the patient and the sampling unit or supervision equipment. The model of today is an embedded hardware solution with two processors (FPGA and Bluetooth). A twelve bit ADC with a 1 kHz-sampling rate then converts an analogue signal that simulates an ECG-signal with typical frequencies. The communication between the ADC and Bluetooth™ is serial and controlled by the FPGA. The remote PC runs a simple software that controls the Bluetooth™ and processes the received data. The results indicate that it is possible to continuously transmit an ECG-signal without loosing data.

  • Condition Based Maintenance on Rail Vehicles - Possibilities for a more effective maintenance strategy
  • 2003
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Today, the Swedish industry is budgeting billions in maintenance related costs on a yearly basis. The high costs come from productivity losses due to low availability. With condition based maintenance the maintenance intervals will be a lot more dynamic and no actions will be done unnecessarily. Sensor technology makes it possible to monitor an assets most important components. Different Artificial Intelligence techniques make it possible to analyze the measured data. With process knowledge of the monitored asset the analysis will show whether maintenance actions need to be performed or not. The condition based maintenance approach has been tried successfully on different engineering industries; now, the time has come to rail vehicles.

  • Tillstandsbaserat underhall - underhallsstrategins mojligheter pa Stridsvagn 122
  • 2006
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
