  • Off-line Testing of Delay Faults in NoC Interconnects
  • 2006
  • Ingår i: 9th EUROMICRO Conference on Digital System Design. - : IEEE Computer Society. - 0769526098 ; , s. 677-680
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Testing of high density SoCs operating at high clock speeds in an important but difficult problem. Many faults, like delay faults, in such sub-micron chips may only appear when the chip works at normal operating speed. In this paper, we propose a methodology for at-speed testing of delay faults in links connecting two distinct clock domains in a SoC. We give an analytical analysis about the efficiency of this method. We also propose a simple digital hardware structure for the receiver end of the link under test to detect delay faults. It is possible to extend our method to combine it with functional testing of the link and adapt it for on-line testing.

  • User Centered Development of Automatic E-mail Answering for the Public Sector
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Human-Computer Interaction, Tourism and Cultural Heritage. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin/Heidelberg. - 9783642339431 - 9783642339448 ; , s. 154-156
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In Sweden, the use of e-mail by the public sector has become a key communication service between citizens and governmental authorities. Although the integration of e-mail in the public sector has certainly brought citizens and handling officers closer, it has also introduced a particular vision on governmental authorities such as for instance the idea that public service and information should be available to citizens any time, anywhere. Such a belief among citizens puts certainly high demands on the quality and efficiency of the e-service governmental authorities are capable to provide. In fact, the growing number of citizens’ electronic requests must be accurately answered in a limited time. In the research project IMAIL (Intelligent e-mail answering service for eGovernment) [1], we have focused on the work carried out at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (SSIA) that exemplifies a governmental authority dealing with 500,000 emails per year on top of face-to face meetings, phone calls and chat communication. With the objective of creating an e-mail client capable to ease and ensure the quality of SSIAs’ handling officers public service, we have developed a prototype that: (1) automatically answer a large part of simple questions in the incoming e-mail flow, (2) improve the quality of the semi- automatic answers (i.e. answer templates), and finally, (3) reduce the workload for the handling officers. The development of the prototype is grounded in an empirical study conducted at the SSIA. The study comprises the analysis and clustering of 10,000 citizens e-mails and the working activity of 15 handling officers that were collected through questionnaires, interviews and workshops [2].

  • Contact nuclei formation in aqueous dextrose solutions
  • 1990
  • Ingår i: Journal of Crystal Growth. - 0022-0248 .- 1873-5002. ; 102:4, s. 869-876
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A laser Raman microprobe was used in situ to observe the growth of alpha dextrose monohydrate on alpha anhydrous dextrose crystals. The Raman spectra indicate growth of the monohydrate below 28.1°C, but the presence of only the anhydrous form above 40.5°C. Contact nucleation experiments with parent anhydrous crystals yielded only monohydrate nuclei below 28.1°C, while contacts in solutions between 34.5 and 41.0°C produced both crystalline forms, and contacts in solutions above 43.5°C produced only anhydrous nuclei. The inability of the monohydrate to grow on anhydrous crystals in the same solution that forms the two crystalline phases with a single contact precludes a simple attrition mechanism of nuclei formation. For the same reason, the hypothetical mechanism involving parent crystal stabilization of pre-crystalline clusters, allowing the clusters to grow into nuclei, is also contradicted. A third, mechanism, which may be a combination of the two, is believed to apply.

  • The Influence of Building Packing Densities on Flow Adjustment and City Breathability in Urban-like Geometries
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Procedia Engineering. - : Elsevier Ltd. - 1877-7058. ; 198, s. 758-769
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • City breathability refers to the air exchange process between the flows above and within urban canopy layers (UCL) and that of in-canopy flow, measuring the potential of wind to remove and dilute pollutants, heat and other scalars in a city. Bulk flow parameters such as in-canopy velocity (Uc) and exchange velocity (UE) have been applied to evaluate the city breathability. Both wind tunnel experiments and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations were used to study the flow adjustment and the variation of city breathability through urban-like models with different building packing densities. We experimentally studied some 25-row and 15-column aligned cubic building arrays (the building width B=72 mm and building heights H=B) in a closed-circuit boundary layer wind tunnel. Effect of building packing densities (λp=λf=0.11, 0.25, 0.44) on flow adjustment and drag force of each buildings were measured. Wind tunnel data show that wind speed decreases quickly through building arrays due to strong building drag. The first upstream building induces the strongest flow resistance. The flow adjustment length varies slightly with building packing densities. Larger building packing density produces lower drag force by individual buildings and attains smaller velocity in urban canopy layers, which causes weaker city breathability capacity. In CFD simulations, we performed seven test cases with various building packing densities of λp=λf=0.0625, 0.11, 0.25, 0.36, 0.44 and 0.56. In the cases of λp=λf=0.11, 0.25, 0.44, the simulated profiles of velocity and drag force agree with experiment data well. We computed Uc and UE, which represent horizontal and vertical ventilation capacity respectively. The inlet velocity at 2.5 times building height in the upstream free flow is defined as the reference velocity Uref. Results show that UE/Uref changes slightly (1.1% to 0.7%) but Uc/Uref significantly decreases from 0.4 to 0.1 as building packing densities rise from 0.0625 to 0.56. Although UE is induced by both mean flows and turbulent momentum flux across the top surface of urban canopy, vertical turbulent diffusion is found to contribute mostly to UE.

  • Channel Prediction Based On Sinusoidal Modeling
  • 2005
  • Licentiatavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Long range channel prediction is considered as one of the most important enabling technologies to future wireless communication systems. The prediction of Rayleigh fading channels is studied in the frame of sinusoidal modeling in this thesis. A stochastic sinusoidal model to represent Rayleigh fading channel is proposed. The average of the conditional power spectrum of this model is shown to be the well known Jake's model. Given Doppler frequencies to be deterministic, the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) for the frequency estimates is derived. An algorithm to calculate the compressed CRLB is also proposed. Using measurement data, the Jake's model is confirmed by the Normalized Mean Doppler Spectrum (NMDS) in both urban and suburban environments. The analysis of the time varying property of the model parameters shows that the model parameters are more consistent in suburban than in urban environment. A strong dominant sinusoid was observed in most suburban measurements, which might be due to the direct path in Line-Of-Sight (LOS). Based on the statistical sinusoidal modeling, three different predictors are proposed. These methods outperform the standard LP in Monte Carlo simulations, but underperform with real measurement data. A subjective study of the LMMSE prediction methods to nearby tones are performed by simulations. The Unconditioned LMMSE predictor is found to be more suitable for the prediction of closely separated sinusoids. Later, a Joint Moving Average and Sinusoidal (JMAS) model is proposed for channel prediction, which predicts the channel by LP and sinusoidal predictor jointly, together with a simple SVD based the ith biggest gradient model selection method. This method is termed Joint LMMSE predictor. It outperforms all the other predictors in suburban environments, but still performs slightly worse than the standard LP in urban environments.
