- Ruotsin kielen adverbin egentligen leksikaalinen merkitys om 'oikeastaan', 'itse asiassa' tms. Pragmaattisella tasolla tässä sanassa riittää kuitenkin pohtimista paljon enemmän kuin sanakirjojen mainitsemista merkityksistä voi päätellä. Yleisesti voi sanoa, että adverbia egentligen käytetään ilmaisemaan jonkin ilmauksen tai sen osan emfaasia, samalla kun sana ilmaisee, että jokin asia on (hieman) toisin kuin ilmauksen loppuosa lupailee. Sanalla on myös spesifisempiä pragmaattisia funktioita. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan näistä funktioista kolmea: provosointia, eriävän mielipiteen esittämistä ja sitä, että väittää jotakin, vaikka ei itse asiassa väitäkään. Sanalla egentligen on varmasti useita muitakin pragmaattisia funktioita, mutta niitä ei käsitällä tässä artikkelissa.

Direct and indirect effects on households’ intentions to replace the old car

- With the purpose of testing the hypothesis that households' intentions to replace their old car have a direct negative relationship to its perceived quality ('current level') and a direct positive relationship to their aspirations for a new car ('aspiration level'), a rotating panel of car owners were interviewed every fourth month during 2 years. In this data set the hypothesis received support. In addition the results showed that the age of the car, the total number of miles driven, and the number of anticipated repairs affected the current level, whereas marital status, the number of children, consumer confidence, and environmental concern affected the aspiration level.

- If telemedicine is to impact on and shape the hospital of the future, the challenge for strategic management will be to create and support a process where the technology's fields of application can be developed and diffused. Due to the technology's openness, this is required to occur in use of the technology, during a process of exploration and exploitation of its applications. The role of fiery spirits and supporting programmes of action are emphasised, by using Actor Network Theory as an analytical perspective on a longitudinal study of two Swedish telemedicine projects. It is concluded that fiery spirits are playing a significant role in the phase of exploring fields of application, but if applications are to be successfully exploited, the dependency of the fiery spirits has to be gradually decoupled. In this process, supporting programmes of action will facilitate the further exploitation and stabilisation of technology usage.
