Some asymptotic results in recursive identification using Laguerre models
- 1990
-

Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- Frequency domain expressions for the quality of recursively identified Laguerre models are presented. These models generalize finite impulse response (FIR) models by using a priori information about the dominating time constants of the system to be identified. Expressions for the model quality are derived under the assumptions that the system varies slowly, that the model is updated slowly, and that the model order is high. The model quality is evaluated by investigating the properties of the estimated transfer function, and explicit expressions for the mean square error (MSE) of the transfer function, and explicit expressions for the mean square error of the transfer function estimate are derived.

Planning in Polynomial Time
- 1990

Ingår i: Porceedings of the 1990 International Workshop on Expert Systems in Engineering, Principles and Applications. - Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg. - 9783540467113 ; , s. 103--118, s. 125-129

Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- This paper describes a polynomial-time, O(n3), planning algorithm for a limited class of planning problems. Compared to previous work on complexity of algorithms for knowledge-based or logic-based planning, our algorithm achieves computational tractability, but at the expense of only applying to a significantly more limited class of problems. Our algorithm is proven correct and complete, and it always returns a minimal plan if there is a plan at all.

Asymptotic Robustness of Sensor Arrary Processing Methods
- 1990
-
Ingår i: Proceedings of the 1990 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing. - Linköping : IEEE Signal Processing Society. ; , s. 2635-2638

Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- Methods for estimating the parameters of narrowband signals arriving at an array of sensors are analyzed. Asymptotic results for several estimators have recently appeared in the literature. With few exceptions, the previous analysis requires the incident signal waveforms to be Gaussian random variables. These results are shown to be valid under much more general conditions, i.e. the actual distribution of the signal waveforms does not affect the asymptotic properties of the parameter.

A Study of Adaptive Arrays for Mobile Communication Systems
- 1990
-
Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
- The application of adaptive antenna techniques to increase the channel capacity in mobile radio communication is discussed. Directional sensitivity is obtained by using an antenna array at the base station, possibly both in receiving and transmitting mode. A scheme for separating several signals at the same frequency is proposed. The method is based on high-resolution direction finding following by optimal combination of the antenna outputs. Comparisons to a method based on reference signals are made. Computer simulations are carried out to test the applicability of the technique to scattering scenarios that typically arise in urban areas. The proposed scheme is found to have great potential in rejecting cochannel interference, albeit at the expense of high computational requirements.

MOVING ROCK: Youth and pop in late modernity

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- Popular music in late modernity contains crucial ambivalences that ask for a non-reductionist cultural critique. To that end, a multi-dimensional model is suggested for understanding sources, learning processes, recent changes, and resistance forms in pop and youth culture. On an objective level, a growing systemic rationality of technology, politics and economy induces counter-powers and counter-institutions. On a social level, a gradual release from traditional norms and relations inspire experiments with counter-values and counter-groups. On a subjective level new narcissist personal traits develop, leading to counter-identities. On a cultural level a growing reflexivity make counter-cultures try out open and flexible forms of symbolic interaction and music making.
