  • Model-Based Threat Assessment for Avoiding Arbitrary Vehicle Collisions
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems. - 1524-9050 .- 1558-0016. ; 11:3, s. 658-669
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper presents a model-based algorithm that estimates how the driver of a vehicle can either steer, brake, or accelerate to avoid colliding with an arbitrary object. In this algorithm, the motion of the vehicle is described by a linear bicycle model, and the perimeter of the vehicle is represented by a rectangle. The estimated perimeter of the object is described by a polygon that is allowed to change size, shape, position, and orientation at sampled time instances. Potential evasive maneuvers are modeled, parameterized, and approximated such that an analytical expression can be derived to estimate the set ofmaneuvers that the driver can use to avoid a collision. This set of maneuvers is then assessed to determine if the driver needs immediate assistance to avoid or mitigate an accident. The proposed threat-assessment algorithm is evaluated using authentic data from both real traffic conditions and collision situations on a test track and by using simulations with a detailed vehicle model. The evaluations show that the algorithm outperforms conventional threat-assessment algorithms at rear-end collisions in terms of the timing of autonomous brake activation. This is crucial for increasing the performance of collisionavoidance systems and for decreasing the risk of unnecessary braking. Moreover, the algorithm is computationally efficient and can be used to assist the driver in avoiding or mitigating collisions with all types of road users in all kinds of traffic scenarios.

  • Spectroscopic Characterization and Modeling of Methyl- and Hydrogen-Terminated Oligo (ethylene glycol) Self-Assembled Monolayers
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: The Journal of Physical Chemistry C. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1932-7447 .- 1932-7455. ; 116:22, s. 12008-12016
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Two series of oligo (ethylene glycol) (OEG) thiol compounds HS-(CH2CH2O)nR with R = CH3, H and n = 5, 6, 7, have been synthesized and used to form self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on gold. The data from null ellipsometry, infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy and ab initio calculations of this type of OH- and CH3-terminated OEG SAMs are used to examine the rarely addressed in-SAM orientation of oligo (ethylene glycols) and to provide detailed assignments of infrared bands in the fingerprint and CH-stretching regions. Based on these results, a new spectral band has been observed at 2947 cm-1 and identified by the firstprinciple calculations as localized vibrations that are specific for hydrogen-terminated OEG thiolate SAMs. This band can be used as an indicator of a high crystalline like ordering. It is further more stressed that theory agrees with the experimentally obtained CH-stretching spectra remarkably well if, and only if, the OEG helix axis within studied SAMs is tilted by about 20o with respect to the surface normal.

  • Genome-Wide Association Study of Golden Retrievers Identifies Germ-Line Risk Factors Predisposing to Mast Cell Tumours
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: PLOS Genetics. - : Public Library of Science (PLoS). - 1553-7390 .- 1553-7404. ; 11:11
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Canine mast cell tumours (CMCT) are one of the most common skin tumours in dogs with a major impact on canine health. Certain breeds have a higher risk of developing mast cell tumours, suggesting that underlying predisposing germ-line genetic factors play a role in the development of this disease. The genetic risk factors are largely unknown, although somatic mutations in the oncogene C-KIT have been detected in a proportion of CMCT, making CMCT a comparative model for mastocytosis in humans where C-KIT mutations are frequent. We have performed a genome wide association study in golden retrievers from two continents and identified separate regions in the genome associated with risk of CMCT in the two populations. Sequence capture of associated regions and subsequent fine mapping in a larger cohort of dogs identified a SNP associated with development of CMCT in the GNAI2 gene (p = 2.2x10(-16)), introducing an alternative splice form of this gene resulting in a truncated protein. In addition, disease associated haplotypes harbouring the hyaluronidase genes HYAL1, HYAL2 and HYAL3 on cfa20 and HYAL4, SPAM1 and HYALP1 on cfa14 were identified as separate risk factors in European and US golden retrievers, respectively, suggesting that turnover of hyaluronan plays an important role in the development of CMCT.

  • What Got ou ere Won't Get ou There A multi-case study on the challenges in the transition from traditional towards continuous data practices in the embedded systems domain
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Lecture Notes in Informatics. - : Gesellschaft für Informatik. - 1617-5468. ; P-334, s. 47-62, s. 47-62
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For decades, product data has been collected and used for quality assurance, for post-deployment defect detection and for informing the next generation of products. Across industry domains, and with the online domain leading the way, companies have adopted experimentation and data driven practices such as A/B testing to evaluate product performance, customer behaviors and for determining what adds value to customers. However, with the rapid changes that new digital technologies bring, companies are moving towards continuous value delivery and monetization models in which they offer their products as-a-service or offer services to complement and extend their existing products. In this transition, the traditional way of post-deployment data collection and use is no longer sufficient. While companies realize this, they experience difficulties in making the changes they need to transition towards continuous practices and new ways of working with data. As a result, companies risk wasting development efforts on functionality that have little or no customer value and they lose out on the competitive advantages that come with insights derived from continuous collection and use of data. In this paper, we explore the challenges companies experience in the transition from traditional towards continuous practices and the implications this shift has on their ways of working with data.

  • Analysis, Estimation and Compensation of Mismatch Effects in A/D Converters
  • 2003
  • Doktorsavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The trend in modern communication systems is to replace as much analog circuits as possible with digital ones, to decrease size, energy consumption and cost. An analog to digital converter (ADC) is the interface between the analog and digital parts. Replacing analog parts, such as mixers, with digital ones requires higher sampling rates. The bottleneck in a digital communication system is often the ADC. Requirements on low power consumption, small chip area and high sample rates are often contradictory to requirements on high accuracy in the manufacturing process. The traditional way to improve the accuracy is to calibrate the ADC before use. However, calibration is time consuming and costly. Furthermore, the errors usually change during the lifetime of the ADC due to, for instance, temperature variation and aging. This means that the ADC must be recalibrated at regular intervals. In this thesis, we investigate how the errors in an ADC can be estimated and compensated for while the ADC is used. The estimation must then be done without any special calibration signal. Two different types of errors are discussed in this thesis. The first type of error is static errors in the reference levels, caused by resistor mismatch. Two methods are proposed for estimation and correction of these errors. The most general method requires only that the amplitude distribution is smooth, while the other one requires knowledge of the amplitude distribution of the input signal butgives a little better performance. The second type of error occurs in time interleaved ADCs, where several ADCs are used in parallel. Due to component mismatch, three different static errors appear: Time errors (static jitter), amplitude offset errors and gain errors. A method for estimation and compensation of these errors is proposed. The method requires basically only that the input signal is band limited to the Nyquist frequency for the system.Another way to decrease the impact of the mismatch errors in a time interleaved ADC is to randomize the selection of which order the ADCs should be used. This randomization spreads the distortion to a more noise like shape. How the mismatcherrors aect the spectrum of a randomly interleaved ADC is also analyzed in this thesis. To confirm that the analysis and estimation methods work in practise the methods are evaluated on both simulated data and data from real ADCs.

  • Analysis of Mismatch Effects in Randomly Interleaved A/D Converter System
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Circuits And Systems Part I. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 1057-7122 .- 1558-1268. ; 52:3, s. 465-476
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To significantly increase the sampling rate of an A/D converter (ADC), a time interleaved ADC system is a good option. The drawback of a time interleaved ADC system is that the ADCs are not exactly identical due to errors in the manufacturing process. This means that time, gain and offset mismatch errors are introduced in the ADC system. These errors cause non harmonic distortion in the sampled signal. One way to decrease the impact of the mismatch errors is to spread the distortion over a wider frequency range by randomizing the order in which the ADCs are used in the interleaved structure. In this paper we analyze how the spectrum is affected by mismatch errors in a randomly interleaved ADC system. We also discuss how the mismatch errors can be estimated.

  • Analysis of Mismatch Noise in Randomly Interleaved ADC Systems
  • 2003
  • Ingår i: Proceedings of the 2003 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing. - 0780376633 ; , s. 277-280 vol.6
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Time interleaved A/D converters (ADC) can be used to increase the sample rate of an ADC system. However, a problem with time interleaved ADC is that distortion is introduced in the output signal due to various mismatch errors between the ADC. One way to decrease the impact of the mismatch errors is to introduce additional ADC in the interleaved structure and randomly select an ADC at each sample instance. The periodicity of the errors is then removed and the spurious distortion is changed to a more noiselike distortion, spread over the whole spectrum. In this paper, a probabilistic model of the randomly interleaved ADC system is presented. The noise spectrum caused by gain errors is also analyzed.
