- Through an artistic contribution, Luis Berríos-Negrón introduces his project “Earthscore Specularium,” developed at Färg fabriken in Stockholm in 2015. The work of Berríos-Negrón departs from a practice that deals with complexity to reflect upon notions that bring together ecology, art, architecture, science, and social practice. In recent years, he has been developing a set of conceptual devices he ultimately refers to as “social pedestals.” The latter consist of a series of architectonical installations that facilitate social encounters by resolving spatial practicalities, and at the same time reflect conceptually upon the dematerialization of sculpture. The “social pedestal” is conceived as a site for networked agency for social transformation, where the roles of the agents involved can permute, and different configurations can be organized depending of the needs of every specific situation. The “greenhouse”—which Luis treats as a social pedestal itself as well—is a long-term research site of the artist on the possibility of emancipating this type of technology in order to obtain anticipatory spatial, artistic, and social media.

- Greenhouse is an opaque manifold of meanings. The opacity is not just the result of a layering that occurs when considering its many definitions. It is more so the result of the suppressed colonial violence that is implicit in its technological instrumentalization. This mythical violence, of willfully transplanting the exotic, is at the heart of allother compound terms and subsets of ‘greenhouse’. I have been working on how this opacity obscures a range of forces that shape the environment. More specifically, I amexploring how these opaque forces affect, and may be perceived through, the forms and languages of sculptural and spatial production beyond prescribed visual or imagined outcomes. The work you will encounter here is then a probe to test how the violent opacity of greenhouse may be demystified by shaping an index as potential format for dematerialized display.

- In this paper I aim to remind a brief projection about the inseparable difference between mental and physical space. This projection intends to thicken the aesthetics of sustainability by rejecting social Darwinism as the normalization of chaos and the irrational by way of evolutionary teleology and technocratic domination. To do so, I describe a mannerist recurrence in cultural production and how I hope it may inform a revitalized movement beyond an age of mass industrialization, beyond claims of Parametricism. I argue that this move can be activated by revising Charles Peirce’s Infinite Community of Inquiry, and Gerald Raunig’s notion of Abstract Machines, as vehicles for anthropocentric cybernetics and contemporary ecology. This is not about metaphorical relations between the visual arts and the hard sciences, but to set forth a topological heuristic, an ongoing inquiry to further categorize aspects between the human and non-human worlds, reflecting through Nietzsche's idea of 'gay science.'

- The difference between the slow adjustment of localized resources and the faster processes of technical change and product renewal cause a relocation pressure on existing production. Introduction of new products, techniques and establishments is stimulated by opportunities to attain temporary monopoly profits and is restrained by sunk costs in older vintages and competition for local resources. Introduction is more frequent in nodes with a rich and varied importstructure. The process can be modelledas a chain of import, production and export cycles with relocation. Conditions for introduction and change of location are analysed by means of a spatial vintage model.

Validity of ankylosing spondylitis and spondyloarthritis diagnoses in the Swedish National Patient Register

- Background: Epidemiological studies of spondyloarthritis (SpA) are scarce. Using ICD-codes from the Swedish National Patient Register (NPR) offers unique possibilities for such studies. For this purpose, the validity of these ICD-codes needs to be determined.Objectives: To validate the ICD-codes for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and SpA in the NPR against established classification criteria (modified New York (mNY), ASAS, Amor and ESSG criteria).Methods: All patients with an ICD-code of AS or SpA in the NPR 1966-2009 at a visit to a specialist in rheumatology or internal medicine, or corresponding hospitalization, were identified (n=20074). Following a structured procedure to achieve geographical representativeness, 500 random patients with a registered diagnosis of AS or SpA in 2007-2009 were selected. A structured review of clinical records, with extraction of necessary information for the established classification criteria was performed and positive predictive values (PPV) were calculated.Results: In this cohort 11472 (34% women) patients had received an AS diagnosis and 11004 (56% women) a SpA diagnosis. The overlap group having received both types of diagnoses had similar frequencies for fulfillment of mNY criteria, symptoms and signs of back disease as the group having been coded as AS only.Of those being coded as AS only, the PPV for fulfilling the mNY, any criteria set and any of the included criteria elements were 70%, 89% and 96% respectively.Of those with SpA (without AS ever) the corresponding PPV values were 20%, 79% and 99% respectively.Conclusions: A diagnosis of AS or SpA (without AS) had a high validity, suggesting that case identification based on ICD-codes in the Swedish NPR can be used for epidemiological studies of these diseases.

Förbättrade skattningar av Noch P-förlusterna från skog, myr och fjäll inför PLC6 - pilotprojekt

- Inom ramen för detta pilotprojekt har data från riksinventeringen av skog (RIS) ochsatellitscener använts för att med den statistiska metoden Probabilistic Classifierklassificera skogstillståndet på skogs- och myrmark inklusive fjäll. Vattendragsnäraskog har definierats utgående från ett virtuellt nätverksbildat vattendragsnät(VIVAN). Baserat på ca 200 slumpmässigt utvalda källvattendrag i Dalälven, Viskan,Ätran, Nissan och Lagan har därefter modeller skapats för att skatta typhalternaför N och P i bäckvattnet utgående från skogstillståndet i bäcknära och meravlägsen skog.Modellernas förklaringsgrad för Tot-N (r2=0,60) och Tot-P (r2=0,31) är betydligtbättre än de som användes i norra Sverige inom ramen för PLC5 (r2=0,25respektive (r2=0,11), vilket tyder på att det dels föreligger samband mellan avrinningsområdetsegenskaper och N och P halterna och dels att probabilistisk klassningär en användbar metod för att skatta dessa egenskaper. Ytterligare en förbättringjämfört med PLC5 är att Tot-N och Tot-P i södra Sverige samt oorganisktkväve och fosfat inte längre behöver hanteras som konstanter. Modellerna för deoorganiska fraktionerna är dock osäkra.Typhalterna är betydligt högre än de som användes inom PLC5. Orsaken tilldetta är att analysresultaten från de slumpmässigt utvalda vattendragen visar attsommartid kan närsalthalterna i skogs- och myrbäckar vara betydligt högre änmedel- och medianvärden från längre tidsperioder, som även innehåller säsongsochmellanårlig variation. De presenterade typhalterna kan därför inte okritisktanvändas för t.ex. källfördelningsmodellering. För det krävs modeller baserade påvattenkemisk information även från andra årstider.Vi stora möjligheter att ytterligare förbättra modellernas både rumsliga ochtidsmässiga precision och för att använda metodiken över hela Sverige. De förbättringarsom krävs är då främst tillgång till enhetliga satellitdata från ett begränsattidsfönster för framtagande av differensbilder (används för klassning av löv) ochprobabilistisk klassificering, en höjddatabas med högre rumslig (x-, y- och z-led)upplösning och förnyad simulering av ett virtuellt vattendragsnät alternativt enförbättrad vattendragskarta samt upprepad provtagning (data bör finnas från vår,sommar, höst och vinter) av slumpmässigt utvalda skogs- och myrvattendrag förförbättrad skattning av den temporala variationen i typhalterna. Den teknikutvecklingsom krävs på satellitscen- och höjddatabassidan bör finnas tillgänglig inom entreårsperiod, medan det inte finns medel avsatta för provtagning och analys avslumpmässigt insamlade prover från olika årstider.
