  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Student teachers consider teacher training as an important part of teacher education. Despite this, students’ explicit descriptions of quality in mentoring have not been paid much attention in the Swedish context. This study aims to contribute with knowledge of student teachers’ expressions of quality in mentoring during the teacher training program. Two focus group interviews and seven individual interviews were conducted with student teachers specializing in teaching grades F–3 and 4–6, in teacher training schools that participated in the trial activities in Sweden. Their statements have been analysed based on the theory of social representations. The result shows that three social representations appear: Qualitative mentoring is characterized by a) student’s professional development, b) collegial cooperation, and c) trust. These social representations influence students’ expectations of mentoring and its design. Although the students want to be seen as colleagues, they expect mentors to decide when, where and how mentoring should be carried out, and to have a distinct feeling to use the right type of mentoring at the right time. The mixed professional roles, which is highlighted by the students but seem to be implicit, calls for different forms of mentoring strategies that need to be explicit for both the mentor and the student.

  • Health care students' attitudes toward addressing sexual health in their future profession : Validity and reliability of a questionnaire
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Sexual Health. - : Informa UK Limited. - 1931-7611 .- 1931-762X. ; 28:3, s. 243-250
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objectives: To test the reliability and validity of the Students' Attitudes Towards Addressing Sexual Health Questionnaire (SA-SH), measuring students' attitudes toward addressing sexual health in their future professions.Method: A cross-sectional online survey (22 items) were distributed to 186 nursing, occupational therapy and physiotherapy students in Sweden, April 2015. Validity and reliability were tested. Results: The construct validity analysis led to three major factors: present feelings of comfortableness, future working environment, and fear of negative influence on future patient relations. The construct validity, internal consistency reliability, and intrarater reliability showed good results. Conclusion: The SA-SH is valid and reliable.

  • Health Care Students’ Attitudes Towards Working with Sexual Health in Their Professional Roles : Survey of Students at Nursing, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Programmes
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Sexuality and Disability. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0146-1044 .- 1573-6717. ; 34:3, s. 289-302
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The aim of this study was to explore differences and similarities in health care students’ attitudes towards working with and communicating with patients about sexual health issues in their future professions. The aim was also to explore whether the students’ gender, age and future professions were influencing factors and whether there was a change in attitude depending on educational levels, gender, age and future professions. The study also aimed to explore the potential development of those differences and similarities in attitudes between health care students having achieved different levels of education and training in their future professions. A cross-sectional quantitative study was performed with an online survey distributed to nursing, occupational therapy and physiotherapy students. The students believed that they needed increased sexual health education and increased communication skills about sexual health. Gender and future profession are factors that significantly affect the attitudes of the students towards working with sexual health. Nursing and occupational therapy students have a more positive attitude towards addressing sexual health in their future professions than do physiotherapy students. Further research is needed in this field to improve competence in sexual health for all student groups, particularly physiotherapy students. Further research is also needed to explore the significance of gender regarding education in sexual health and attitudes towards working with sexual health.

  • Revisiting information security risk management challenges : a practice perspective
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Information and Computer Security. - : Emerald Group Publishing Limited. - 2056-4961. ; 27:3, s. 358-372
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose – The study aims to revisit six previously defined challenges in information security risk management to provide insights into new challenges based on current practices.Design/methodology/approach – The study is based on an empirical study consisting of in-depth interviews with representatives from public sector organisations. The data were analysed by applying a practice-based view, i.e. the lens of knowing (or knowings). The results were validated by an expert panel.Findings – Managerial and organisational concerns that go beyond a technical perspective have been . found, which affect the ongoing social build-up of knowledge in everyday information security work.Research limitations/implications – The study has delimitation as it consists of data from four public sector organisations, i.e. statistical analyses have not been in focus, while implying a better understanding of what and why certain actions are practised in their security work.Practical implications – The new challenges that have been identified offer a refined set of actionable advice to practitioners, which, for example, can support cost-efficient decisions and avoid unnecessary security trade-offs.Originality/value – Information security is increasingly relevant for organisations, yet little is still known about how related risks are handled in practice. Recent studies have indicated a gap between the espoused and the actual actions. Insights from actual, situated enactment of practice can advise on process adaption and suggest more fit approaches.

  • Stress Amongst Novice Information Security Risk Management Practitioners
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: International Journal on Cyber Situational Awareness. - : Centre for Multidisciplinary Research, Innovation and Collaboration (C-MRiC). - 2057-2182 .- 2057-2182. ; 4:1, s. 128-154
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Today, information is a key asset for many organisations. Reducing risks of information compromise is increasingly prioritised. However, there is an incomplete understanding of how organisations with limited security knowledge and experience manage information security risks in practice. Previous studies have suggested that security-novice employees faced with burdensome, complex, and ambiguous security requirements can experience security-related stress (SRS), and ultimately influence their security decisions. In this study, we further this research stream by suggesting that SRS can similarly be found with security-novice managers responsible for developing and practising information security risk management (ISRM). Two organisations were targeted in the study using a case study approach, to obtain data about their practices, using SRS as an analytical lens. The study found various examples where SRS influenced security-novice managers’ decisions, and identifies several stressors and stress inhibitors in the ISRM process and supporting ISRM tools, and discusses the implications for practitioners.

  • An evaluation of practitioners’ perceptions of a security risk assessment methodology in air traffic management projects
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Journal of Air Transport Management. - : Elsevier. - 0969-6997 .- 1873-2089. ; 102
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cyber security is a key enabler for safe Air Traffic Management (ATM). This paper presents results from an empirical study, in which we have investigated and evaluated the use of the Security Risk Assessment Methodology for SESAR (SecRAM) in European ATM research and development projects. The study was performed with the intention to find and document common issues and aspects that could be improved in the methodology. The results from the study reveal that while most of the practitioners had a positive perception of the methodology itself, they were less satisfied with the process of applying it in their projects. Based on the results, we provide a number of recommendations, which aim to improve the security risk assessment process in the ATM domain.
