  • View and management of innovativeness upon succession in family-owned SMEs
  • 2010
  • In: Managing the Art of Innovation. - Lappeenranta, Finland : Lappeenranta University of Technology Press. - 9789522650047
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into how thesuccessors of family-owned manufacturing SMEs view and manageinnovativeness. Research into company take-overs mainly focuses on largecompanies and little is known about innovativeness in research on familyownedbusinesses, often SMEs. This paper presents findings from ten companysuccessions, five of which describe family successions and five external ones. The paper shows that there is little difference in how various types of successorview and manage innovativeness. A successor is chosen with care and this alsoinfluences the view and management of innovativeness: other criteria seem toapply in the succession and any (radical) changes can only be introduced if anumber of contextual factors are managed properly.

  • Information Asymmetries among European Investors : Evidence from Swedish IPOs
  • 2011
  • In: 13th Annual SNEE (Swedish Network for European Economic Research) Conference, May 17-20, 2011 . Session F1: European Corporate Finance. ; , s. 1-16
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We study underpricing and equity holdings following initial public offerings (IPOs) in Sweden over the sample period 2000 through 2009. We document, as most prior studies of IPOs, that they on average are underpriced (i.e., associated with a positive initial return). IPOs with a low (high) initial return have higher (lower) equity holdings by retail investors. Our analysis of domicile of institutional investors indicates that foreign institutional investors have preferences for holdings in IPOs characterized by a high initial return and large capitalization values. Analysis of overseas institutional holdings indicates existence of information asymmetries related to distance.

    • Ethical competence is the ability of a decision maker to use the right way to think in front of a moral problem. Building on that a training program was developed containing four blocks of seventeen exercises. Participants coming from different organizations used the exercises on their own professional problems.
