- Are female politicians less likely to be promoted to specific ministerial posts, and is it important for them to toe the party line? This article focuses on whether the selection of ministers has a gender-specific dimension. Building on role congruity theory and research showing that female and male politicians are evaluated in a different manner in leadership positions, we present some original hypotheses. For example, we hypothesize that female politicians are less likely to be appointed to cabinet when they have held gender-incongruent committee positions in parliament. We also hypothesize that women are less likely to be appointed to cabinet posts when they have previously deviated from the party line. In an empirical analysis of Swedish ministerial appointments in six cabinets, we find that female politicians were less likely to be appointed to cabinet posts when they have held positions in 'masculine' parliamentary committees and when they deviated from the party line in their parliamentary speeches. These results suggest that women are more harshly judged when holding positions that are not in line with traditional gender stereotypes and have important implications for our understanding of gender and political leadership.

Experimental analysis of the local flow effects around single row tidal turbine arrays

- Within the next decade it is likely that largescale energy extraction of tidal energy at specific sites will be undertaken. Arrays of multiple devices will be installed in order to generate meaningful quantities of power to the electrical grid. Much research has now begun to focus on understanding of the effects tidal turbines have on the surrounding flow environment. This will ensure that tidal farms can be strategically positioned to achieve the maximum possible power output in any given tidal site. The objective of the analysis presented in this paper is to investigate the flow acceleration effects which occur in a tidal channel as the position of a tidal array is altered relative to the side channel boundary. Experiments involving porous actuator fences in a circulating water channel are described, and the data from these experiments is used to illustrate how the flow regime can change as a tidal array moves closer to a solid boundary. Results indicate that considerable flow acceleration can occur in certain circumstances which for full-scale arrays could affect sediment transport and marine flora and fauna. Thus arrays must be carefully located to minimise any negative impacts on the surrounding environment. This work is ongoing and aspires to shape the development of larger arrays in the medium to long term

- Syftet med denna artikel är att, utan anspråk på fullständighet, ge en probleminventerande översikt över sambandet mellan redovisning och beskattning avseende materiella lagertillgångar och att ge ett bidrag till lösningen av några skatterättsliga spörsmål inom denna ram.Artikeln inriktas i första hand på frågor om skatterättslig periodisering i samband med relativt normala affärshändelser. Därmed faller inte minst skattefrågor vid omstruktureringar i huvudsak bort. Syftet är inte att behandla fastigheter, tillgångar hänförliga till jord- och skogsbruksverksamhet eller pågående arbeten. I flera fall torde framställningen dock kunna ge viss ledning även i frågor som faller utanför den här gjorda avgränsningen.Analysen inriktas på följande tre frågor, som alla är av central betydelse för skatterättsliga periodiseringsbeslut med koppling till lagertillgångar. Dessa frågor är vilka av ett företags tillgångar som behandlas lagertillgångar, vilka (lager)tillgångar som behandlas som företagets tillgångar och hur lagertillgångar värderas vid och efter anskaffningstillfället.

Trichilianones A-D, Novel Cyclopropane-Type Limonoids from Trichilia adolfi

- The fractionation of an ethanol extract of the bark of Trichilia adolfi yielded four novel limonoids (trichilinones A-D, 1-4), with five fused rings and related to the hortiolide-type limonoids. Starting with an ε-lactone, which is α,β-unsaturated in trichilinones A and D (1 and 4), attached to a tetrahydrofuran ring that is connected to an unusual bicyclo [5.1.0] hexane system, joined with a cyclopentanone with a 3-furanyl substituent [(2-oxo)-furan-(5H)-3-yl in trichilinone D (4)], the four compounds isolated display a new 7/5/3/5/5 limonoid ring system. Their structures were established based on extensive analysis of NMR spectroscopic data. As the crude extract possessed anti-leishmanial properties, the compounds were assayed for cytotoxic and anti-parasitic activities in vitro in murine macrophages cells (Raw 264.7) and leishmania promastigotes (L. amazoniensis and L. braziliensis), respectively. The compounds showed moderate cytotoxicity (approximately 70 μg/mL), but are not responsible for the leishmanicidal effect of the extract.
