  • Less followership, less leadership? An inquiry into the basic but seemingly forgotten downsides of leadership.
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: M@N@Gement. - 1286-4692. ; 8:3, s. 266-282
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Leadership is generally viewed as important and beneficial for individuals as well as organizations. The term, however, also implies followership and the targets for leadership may be less enthusiastic about adopting a follower position. From a follower’s point of view, there might be downsides associated with a leadership/followership relationship, including negative effects on identity and reduced autonomy. These often neglected downsides may lead to a dampening of the enthusiasm for leadership in practice and form a counterforce to the prevalence of leadership. This aversion towards followership may therefore mean ‘less’ leadership, for instance less salient ‘leader/follower’ qualities in relations and interactions than is generally assumed in leadership/followership studies.

  • Meta-Organizations : A Clarification and a Way Forward
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: M@n@gement. - : Association Internationale de management strategique (AIMS). - 1286-4692. ; 25:2, s. 1-9
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this introduction, we reemphasize some key parts of meta-organization theory and their implications for understanding meta-organizations and meta-organizing processes. We clarify what meta-organizations are and what they are not and then analyze their key purposes and activities. We then present the papers of the special issue and discuss venues for future research. Although many key contributions have been made to meta-organization theory and research, there are many more things to investigate before we know as much about meta-organizations as we know about individual-based organizations.

  • A touch of nostalgia: On Albert O. Hirschman, my idol
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Management (France). - : Association Internationale de management strategique (AIMS). - 1286-4692. ; 20:5, s. 517-522
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In the original tradition of the "Unplugged" section, "carte blanche" grants a wild card to world-class scholars to share their own perspective on novel ways to conceive of management today. They may offer new avenues and draw up an agenda for a specific research question. Authors have to be invited to submit to the "carte blanche" series by one of the editors.

  • Unplugged - "Carte blanche"
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: M@n@gement. - : ASSOC INT MANAGEMENT STRATEGIQUE-AIMS. - 1286-4692. ; 20:2, s. 208-220
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The turn to affect needs to assume a stable discursive position on its importance in relation to the literature on practice, nevertheless the issue is not whether affect is important, but why and how. In fact, all agency unfolds with a certain degree of affect and almost all social practices affect their participants in various degrees. Ordinary affects are the varied capacities to affect and to be affected that give everyday life the quality of a continuum becoming. Their significance lies in the way they pick up the intensities that they build and in the thoughts and feelings they make possible, rather than in 'meanings' encapsulated in an order of representations. The question that the article addresses is therefore how to preserve and report on ordinary affects while studying working practices? Through two episodes from fieldwork (an unbearable sweet music and cruel optimism) I argue that paying attention to affects is an active process of atmosphere attunement to the various embodiments of the field - the embodied researcher and the embodied practitioners - with their attachments to the object of their practices. The turn to affect may enrich the turn to practice with a sensibility for a form of embodied, affective knowing that put into discussion how research is written.

  • What is the place of affect within practice-based studies?
