  • Colour Connections in e+e- annihilation
  • 1997
  • In: Nuclear Physics, Section B. - 0550-3213. ; B490, s. 289-305
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We have a very limited knowledge about how the confinement mechanism works in processes like $\epea\epe\ra\epq\epqa\ggn\ldots\ggn$, when there are identical colour charges. In this case the partons can be colour connected by a string or a cluster chain in several different ways. We do not know if in such a situation Nature chooses a particular configuration at random, or if some configuration is dynamically favoured. Also in the perturbative parton cascade we have no well founded recipe for describing the interference effects, which correspond to non planar diagrams and are caused by identical colour charges. We have studied two different models, and are in particular interested in the possibility that a colour singlet gluon system hadronizes isolated from the remainder of the state. Using double tagged events with heavy $\epc\epca$ or $\epb\epba$ quarks, it appears to be possible to find a significant signal, if such events appear in Nature. If this type of (re)connected states appear in Z decays it may also be an indication that reconnection might appear between the decay products of two W's in the reaction $\epea\epe\ra\gwp\gwm\ra\epq_1\epqa_2\epQ_1\epQa_2$ at LEP2. This would be important e.g. for a precision measurement of the W mass.

  • Influence of organic solvent mixtures on biological membranes - A simple experimental model
  • 1985
  • In: British journal of industrial medicine. - 0007-1072. ; 42:9, s. 591-595
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A simple experimental model was used to study the influence of organic solvents and solvent mixtures on the integrity of biological membranes. Radiolabelled membranes were prepared biosynthetically by growing Escherichia coli in the presence of 14C-oleic acid; the bulk of the radioactivity was incorporated into 14C-phosphatidylethanolamine, the predominant phospholipid species in E coli membranes. The radiolabelled bacteria were incubated at 37 degrees C in the presence of solvent, and the mixture filtrated through a Millipore 0.45 micron filter. This filtration retained radiolabel associated with the bacteria, and only radiolabel released as a result of solvent action was allowed through the filter. The radioactivity in the filtrate was then counted and expressed as a percentage of the total radioactivity. Results showed that aliphatic alcohols released membrane constituents in relation to their hydrocarbon chain length (1-propanol greater than 2-propanol greater than ethanol greater than methanol); the effects of aliphatic alcohols were potentiated by acetone, ethyl methyl ketone, ethylene glycol, and N,N'-dimethylformamide, and the effects of ethanol were potentiated by 1-butanol, benzyl alcohol, and ethylacetate. These findings point to the possibility that certain mixtures of organic solvents are more damaging to membranes than the components of the mixture would indicate, and suggest that the experimental model used might help in showing mixtures that are particularly harmful.

  • ”inte kan jag berätta allas historia?”: Föreställningar om nordisk arbetarlitteratur
  • 2016
  • Editorial collection (other academic/artistic)abstract
Medverkande: Beata Agrell, Christer Ekholm, Anna Forssberg, Anker Gemzøe, Christine Hamm, Carl-Eric Johansson, Bibi Jonsson, Ole Karlsen, Katarina Leppänen, Per-Olof Mattsson, Sandra Mischlewietz, Magnus Nilsson, Birthe Sjöberg och Anders Öhman.

  • Alpha-synuclein multiplications with parkinsonism, dementia or progressive myoclonus?
  • 2009
  • In: Parkinsonism & Related Disorders. - : Elsevier BV. - 1873-5126 .- 1353-8020. ; 15:5, s. 390-392
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Duplications and triplications of the alpha-synuclein (SNCA) gene have been reported in Parkinson's disease patients belonging to the Southern Swedish "Lister family". Further genealogical research has now shown that these individuals are descended from a large kindred characterized by Herman Lundborg in 1901-1913. In the expanded pedigree, a total of 25 individuals had Parkinson's disease with an autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance. Hereditary dementia, and, historically, dementia praecox have been described in other family members. Furthermore, an autosomal recessively inherited pediatric disease with nocturnal tonic-clonic fits, subsequent progressive myoclonus, startle reactions, tremor and muscle rigidity was described by Lundborg in the same pedigree. The entity was later designated Unverricht-Lundborg disease (ULD) or progressive myoclonus epilepsy type 1 (EPM1). However, Lundborg's clinical description of this disease, based on 17 patients within this kindred, differs from the modern definition of EPM1, which relies on patients with a mutation in the cystatin B (CSTB) gene. We hypothesize that the former pediatric disease, as well as the parkinsonism and dementia phenotypes, are associated with duplications, triplications and possibly higher-order multiplications of the alpha-synuclein (SNCA) gene. This hypothesis is supported by the distribution of afflicted family members within the pedigree and by recently obtained genealogical information.

  • Är vi åter vid Volgas stränder? : En jämförelse mellan Maksim Gorkijs noveller och Kristian Lundbergs Yarden
  • 2016
  • In: "Inte kan jag berätta allas historia?" : Föreställningar om nordisk arbetarlitteratur - Föreställningar om nordisk arbetarlitteratur. - 9789188348746 ; 5, s. 52-65
  • Book chapter (peer-reviewed)abstract
Fyra texter står i centrum även om andra lyfts in i analysen.
