  • Towards 6G wireless communication networks: vision, enabling technologies, and new paradigm shifts
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Science China Information Sciences. - : Science Press. - 1674-733X .- 1869-1919. ; 64:1
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The fifth generation (5G) wireless communication networks are being deployed worldwide from 2020 and more capabilities are in the process of being standardized, such as mass connectivity, ultra-reliability, and guaranteed low latency. However, 5G will not meet all requirements of the future in 2030 and beyond, and sixth generation (6G) wireless communication networks are expected to provide global coverage, enhanced spectral/energy/cost efficiency, better intelligence level and security, etc. To meet these requirements, 6G networks will rely on new enabling technologies, i.e., air interface and transmission technologies and novel network architecture, such as waveform design, multiple access, channel coding schemes, multi-antenna technologies, network slicing, cell-free architecture, and cloud/fog/edge computing. Our vision on 6G is that it will have four new paradigm shifts. First, to satisfy the requirement of global coverage, 6G will not be limited to terrestrial communication networks, which will need to be complemented with non-terrestrial networks such as satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication networks, thus achieving a space-air-ground-sea integrated communication network. Second, all spectra will be fully explored to further increase data rates and connection density, including the sub-6 GHz, millimeter wave (mmWave), terahertz (THz), and optical frequency bands. Third, facing the big datasets generated by the use of extremely heterogeneous networks, diverse communication scenarios, large numbers of antennas, wide bandwidths, and new service requirements, 6G networks will enable a new range of smart applications with the aid of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technologies. Fourth, network security will have to be strengthened when developing 6G networks. This article provides a comprehensive survey of recent advances and future trends in these four aspects. Clearly, 6G with additional technical requirements beyond those of 5G will enable faster and further communications to the extent that the boundary between physical and cyber worlds disappears.

  • Online Video Object Segmentation via Boundary-Constrained Low-Rank Sparse Representation
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: IEEE Access. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 2169-3536. ; 7, s. 53520-53533
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Graphcut-based algorithm is adopted in many video object segmentation systems because different terms can be probabilistically fused together in a framework. Constructing spatio-temporal coherences is an important stage in segmentation systems. However, many steps are involved when computing a key term with good discriminative power. If the cascade steps are adopted, the inaccurate output of the previous step will definitely affect the next step, leading to inaccurate segmentation. In this paper, a key term that is computed by a single framework referred to as boundary-constrained low-rank sparse representation (BCLRSR) is proposed to achieve the accurate segmentation. By treating the elements as linear combinations of dictionary templates, low-rank sparse optimization is adopted to achieve the spatio-temporal saliency. For adding the spatial information to the low-rank sparse model, a boundary constraint is adopted in the framework as a Laplacian regularization. A BCLRSR saliency is then obtained by the represented coefficients, which measure the similarity between the elements in the current frame and the ones in the dictionary. At last, the object is segmented by minimizing the energy function, which is formalized by the spatio-temporal coherences. The experiments on some public datasets show that our proposed algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art methods.

  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Cell Transplantation. - : SAGE Publications. - 0963-6897 .- 1555-3892. ; 27:2, s. 310-324
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cell therapy has been shown to be a key clinical therapeutic option for central nervous system diseases or damage. Standardization of clinical cell therapy procedures is an important task for professional associations devoted to cell therapy. The Chinese Branch of the International Association of Neurorestoratology (IANR) completed the first set of guidelines governing the clinical application of neurorestoration in 2011. The IANR and the Chinese Association of Neurorestoratology (CANR) collaborated to propose the current version "Clinical Cell Therapy Guidelines for Neurorestoration (IANR/CANR 2017)". The IANR council board members and CANR committee members approved this proposal on September 1, 2016, and recommend it to clinical practitioners of cellular therapy. These guidelines include items of cell type nomenclature, cell quality control, minimal suggested cell doses, patient-informed consent, indications for undergoing cell therapy, contraindications for undergoing cell therapy, documentation of procedure and therapy, safety evaluation, efficacy evaluation, policy of repeated treatments, do not charge patients for unproven therapies, basic principles of cell therapy, and publishing responsibility.

  • Unraveling the unique role of brown graphitic carbon nitride in robust CO2 photoreduction
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Applied Surface Science. - : ELSEVIER. - 0169-4332 .- 1873-5584. ; 615
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Photocatalytic CO2 reduction is one of the important means to alleviate the energy crisis. In this work, an oxygen linked and brown graphitic carbon nitride (GACN) was successfully prepared by thermal polymerization after oil bath method. GACN introduced oxygen atoms on surface of BulkCN. Various characterizations of the material show that the prepared GACN has a different structure and higher photoelectronic activity compared to BulkCN. GACN possessed strong photocatalytic CO2 reduction capacity, and the photocatalytic activity was significantly improved compared with BulkCN. In view of density functional theory calculations, it is proved that the oxygen atoms introduced by GACN increase CO2 photoreaction reactivity, enhance electronic activity and reduce the reaction energy barrier. This work can have a positive effect on the photocatalytic application of g-C3N4 with the existence of oxygen atoms.

  • Self-Healing Silk Fibroin-Based Hydrogel for Bone Regeneration: Dynamic Metal-Ligand Self-Assembly Approach
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Advanced Functional Materials. - : Wiley. - 1616-301X.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Despite advances in the development of silk fibroin (SF)-based hydrogels, current methods for SF gelation show significant limitations such as lack of reversible crosslinking, use of nonphysiological conditions, and difficulties in controlling gelation time. In the present study, a strategy based on dynamic metal-ligand coordination chemistry is developed to assemble SF-based hydrogel under physiological conditions between SF microfibers (mSF) and a polysaccharide binder. The presented SF-based hydrogel exhibits shear-thinning and autonomous self-healing properties, thereby enabling the filling of irregularly shaped tissue defects without gel fragmentation. A biomineralization approach is used to generate calcium phosphate-coated mSF, which is chelated by bisphosphonate ligands of the binder to form reversible crosslinkages. Robust dually crosslinked (DC) hydrogel is obtained through photopolymerization of acrylamide groups of the binder. DC SF-based hydrogel supports stem cell proliferation in vitro and accelerates bone regeneration in cranial critical size defects without any additional morphogenes delivered. The developed self-healing and photopolymerizable SF-based hydrogel possesses significant potential for bone regeneration application with the advantages of injectability and fit-to-shape molding.

  • Non-solvating fluorosulfonyl carboxylate enables temperature-tolerant lithium metal batteries
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Journal of Energy Chemistry. - : Elsevier. - 2095-4956 .- 2096-885X. ; 82, s. 287-295
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Advanced electrolyte engineering is an important strategy for developing high-efficacy lithium (Li) metal batteries (LMBs). Unfortunately, the current electrolytes limit the scope for creating batteries that perform well over temperature ranges. Here, we present a new electrolyte design that uses fluorosulfonyl carboxylate as a non-solvating solvent to form difluoroxalate borate (DFOB-) anion-rich solvation sheath, to realize high-performance working of temperature-tolerant LMBs. With this optimized electrolyte, favorable SEI and CEI chemistries on Li metal anode and nickel-rich cathode are achieved, respectively, leading to fast Li+ transfer kinetics, dendrite-free Li deposition and suppressed electrolyte deterioration. Therefore, Li||LiNi0.80Co0.15Al0.05O2 batteries with a thin Li foil (50 μm) show a long-term cycling lifespan over 400 cycles at 1 C and a superior capacity retention of 90% after 200 cycles at 0.5 C under 25 ℃. Moreover, this electrolyte extends the operating temperature from -10 to 30 ℃ and significantly improve the capacity retention and Coulombic efficiency of batteries are improved at high temperature (60 ℃). Fluorosulfonyl carboxylates thus have considerable potential for use in high-performance and all-weather LMBs, which broadens the new exploring of electrolyte design.

  • Influence of no-core fiber on the focusing performance of an ultra-small gradient-index fiber probe
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Optics and lasers in engineering. - : ELSEVIER SCI LTD. - 0143-8166 .- 1873-0302. ; 107, s. 46-53
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The light-beam expansion effect of a no-core fiber on the focusing performance of an ultra-small gradient-index fiber probe is investigated with a view to optimizing the optical performance of such probes. By taking the variable relationship between the focusing performance (including the working distance and the focusing spot size) of the probe and the length of the no-core fiber as the criterion, the effective beam expansion length of the no-core fiber in the ultra-small gradient-index fiber probe is calculated based on the basic properties of the Gaussian beam. Verification and analysis are done by numerical calculations and experimental measurements, respectively. The obtained results show that the working distance of an ultra-small gradient-index fiber probe can be increased effectively by adding a no-core fiber; however, this will lead to increasing the focusing spot size. For the parameters of the fiber probe studied here, the effective beam expansion length of the no-core fiber spacer is less than 0.357 mm. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

  • Bayesian uncertainty evaluation of stitching interferometry for cylindrical surface
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Measurement. - : ELSEVIER SCI LTD. - 0263-2241 .- 1873-412X. ; 157
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Uncertainty evaluation is one of the most important concepts in metrological characterizations. This paper proposes a method for uncertainty evaluation of measurements of cylindrical surfaces by means of stitching interferometry. The proposed method is based on the Bayesian statistical analysis. The prior deviation for a tested surface is determined by both calculation of standard deviation through multiple measurements of a single sub-aperture and calibration of the optical system error. The probability distribution functions (PDF) of the prior and real misalignment error and measured data of the aperture are derived according to the stitching model. Simulated observations are approximated with the Gibbs Sampler using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. Our proposed method is a promising alternative to the ordinary least square technique (LST) with the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) for obtaining the uncertainty of the misalignment and measurement error in the stitching results. Moreover, it can take the inevitable environment errors into account. The prediction of the uncertainty interval makes our method more attractive in industrial applications. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd.
