  • A prospective study comparing the effect of L-PRF and porous titanium granules on the preservation of the buccal bone plate following immediate implant placement
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: The international journal of periodontics & restorative dentistry. - : Quintessence Publishing. - 0198-7569 .- 1945-3388. ; 40:5, s. 767-774
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The aim of this study was to compare the effect of an autogenous blood concentrate (L-PRF) with the effect of white porous titanium granules (WPTG) on buccal bone remodeling. These materials were used to graft the void between the implant and the buccal bone following immediate implant placement. Clinical measurements were made at two time points, and the mean buccal bone horizontal dimension at placement was 2.94 ± 0.59 mm for L-PRF and 3.49 ± 0.99 mm for WPTG. At reentry, the values were 1.19 ± 0.90 mm and 2.12 ± 0.87 mm, respectively. Overall, there was no difference observed in the performance of the two materials regarding buccal bone resorption.

  • Den europeiska katolicismens många skepnader
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Svensk Teologisk Kvartalskrift. - 0039-6761. ; 96:3, s. 211-292
  • Annan publikation (refereegranskat)abstract

  • Imagining and identifying seasonal resource exploitation on the margins of medieval Ireland : [Imaginer et identifier l’exploitation saisonnière des ressources aux marge de l’Irlande médiévale] [Saisonale Ressourcennutzung in marginalen Landschaftendes mittelalterlichen Irlands]
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: SEASONAL SETTLEMENT IN THE MEDIEVAL AND EARLY MODERN COUNTRYSIDE. - Leiden : Sidestone Press. - 9789464270099 - 9789464270105 - 9789464270112 ; , s. 125-136
  • Bokkapitel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper sheds light on the neglected question of how archaeologists might imagineand identify evidence of seasonal land use in medieval Ireland (c. 450-1600). Up to now, research on seasonal resource exploitation in Ireland’s past has focused on the post-1550period, and primarily on upland booley sites used in transhumance. Archaeologists havenot paid very much attention to earlier seasonality, and when they do there is usually anemphasis on sites rather than landscapes. To understand the role of seasonal land use in themedieval Irish economy, and ascertain where it took place, we need a conceptual frameworkthat takes a site’s physical resource catchment into account as well as its social occupants. Aremarkable text from the early second millennium AD provides a starting point. Outliningthe story of a rich lowland farmer on a grazing circuit in the Wicklow Mountains, it offersan insight into seasonal upland ‘taskscapes’, including the grazing of cows in woodlandpasture, the number of people who travelled, and the association of such activity withhunting. The paper then assesses the archaeological evidence for such activities aroundIreland, concluding that it has been quite meagre. In addition to a bias in development-ledexcavation towards fertile lowland areas, a number of recent land-use trends have impactedthe archaeological record of Ireland’s lower upland slopes, i.e. those most likely to be usedin medieval times. These trends include 18th- and 19th-century population growth andupland improvement as well as 20th-century afforestation and mechanisation. The paperproposes a nationwide programme of remote sensing to define the country’s remainingsections of unenclosed, unimproved, and unplanted hillsides below 300 m a.s.l., followedby field survey to select structures of potentially medieval form within them, and trialexcavation to obtain dates and potentially environmental proxies from them.

  • Periodontitis and air flow limitation in older Swedish individuals
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Journal of Clinical Periodontology. - 0303-6979 .- 1600-051X. ; 47:6, s. 715-725
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • AIM: To investigate whether there was an association between periodontitis and air flow limitation in older Swedish individuals.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Study individuals were randomly selected from the Swedish civil registration database representing the aging population in Karlskrona, Sweden. Clinical and radiographic examinations were performed, alongside which participants completed questionnaires gathering information on their medical history, social circumstances, demographic background and tobacco use. A physical examination assessed anthropometric measures. Standard spirometry was performed to identify subjects with air flow limitation. Periodontitis was defined based on radiographic periodontal bone loss. Analysis included multiple logistic regression with adjustment for various confounders.RESULTS: 826 Caucasian dentate subjects were included in the analysis. The median age of participants was 73.2 (IQR 66-81) years, and 443 (54.6%) subjects were female. 86 (10.4%) individuals presented with air flow limitation. The proportion of participants presenting with periodontitis in the air flow limitation group was 65.1% compared to 41.5% with normal respiratory function (p<0.001). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that periodontitis was independently associated with air flow limitation with an odds ratio of 2.31 (95% CI 1.27-4.22) p<0.01.CONCLUSION: In this group of older dentate individuals, periodontitis was significantly associated with airflow limitation independent of other known risk factors.
