  • Identification and study of the very neutron deficient nuclide I-111 : search for octupole correlations in the region of N approximate to Z approximate to 56
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - 0375-9474 .- 1873-1554. ; 682, s. 387C-393C
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High-spin states in the neutron-deficient nuclide I-111 have been populated with the fusion reaction Ni-58 + Ni-58 at a beam energy of 210 MeV, in an experiment performed at the Tandem Accelerator of the Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro. The gamma spectrometer GASP was used in time coincidence with the ISIS Si-ball and the CAMEL recoil mass spectrometer for the positive identification of the nuclide. Gamma transitions and structure details previously attributed to I-111 by Other authors are only partially confirmed. The obtained level scheme includes new rotational bands and a new low lying structure which suggests the presence of octupole correlations at predicted rotational frequency values.

  • Microsatellite markers in a complex of Horismenus sp. (Hymenoptera : Eulophidae), parasitoids of bruchid beetles
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Molecular Ecology Notes. - : Wiley. - 1471-8278 .- 1471-8286. ; 4:4, s. 707-709
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Parasitoids of the genus Horismenus (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) are the main natural enemies of bruchid beetles that feed on several species of Phaseolus beans. Samples of Horismenus depressus, H. missouriensis and H. butcheri were collected from seeds of three Phaseolus species throughout Mexico to examine the impact of plant variability on the genetic structure of parasitoid populations. For this purpose, six microsatellite loci were isolated and characterized. These loci are of great interest in understanding the taxonomy of the genus Horismenus, the most important Eulophid genus in the Neotropics.

  • First Identification of Excited States in 59Zn
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: European Physical Journal A. Hadrons and Nuclei. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6001. ; 15, s. 459-462
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Excited states in 59Zn were observed for the first time following the fusion-evaporation reaction 24Mg + 40Ca at a beam energy of 60 MeV. The GASP array in conjunction with the ISIS Silicon ball and the NeutronRing allowed for the detection of n-rays in coincidence with evaporated light particles. The mirror symmetry of 59Zn and 59Cu is discussed.

  • Unusual Isospin-Breaking and Isospin-mixing Effects in the A=35 Mirror Nuclei
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 1079-7114. ; 92:13
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Excited states have been studied in Ar-35 following the O-16(Mg-24,1alpha1n)Ar-35 fusion-evaporation reaction at 60 MeV using the Ge-detector array GASP. A comparison with the mirror nucleus Cl-35 shows two remarkable features: (i) A surprisingly large energy difference for the 13/2(-) states, in which the hitherto overlooked electromagnetic spin-orbit term is shown to play a major role, and (ii) a very different decay pattern for the 7/2(-) states, which provides direct evidence of isospin mixing.

  • Excited States in 103Sn: Neutron Single-particle Energies with Respect to 100Sn
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C (Nuclear Physics). - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 63:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Gamma-ray lines from Sn-103 have been identified for the first time using EUROBALL and ancillary detectors. The level scheme of Sn-103 has been established by means of particle-gated gamma gamma coincidences. The energy spacing between the g(7/2) and d(5/2) neutron single-particle orbitals is determined from the excited states in Sn-103.

  • Highly deformed band in Nd-138
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C (Nuclear Physics). - 0556-2813. ; 69:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High-spin states in Nd-138 have been investigated with the reaction Zr-94(Ca-48,4n), using the GASP array. A new rotational band has been identified, which has close similarities with the well known highly deformed bands of the lighter Nd isotopes, and is therefore interpreted as built on the second minimum of the nuclear potential energy surface. From comparison with calculations a configuration is suggested which involves two neutrons in the i(13/2) deformation driving orbital.

  • Structural integrity and expression of the L3MBTL gene in normal and malignant hematopoietic cells
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Genes, Chromosomes and Cancer. - : Wiley. - 1045-2257 .- 1098-2264. ; 41:3, s. 203-213
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The human L3MBTL gene is located in 20q12, a region that is commonly deleted in myeloproliferative disorders (MPD), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). L3MBTL is highly homologous to the D-lethal(3) malignant brain tumor [D-l(3)mbt] gene, which is a putative tumor-suppressor gene (TSG) identified in Drosophila and which is closely related to the Drosophila sex combs on midleg (SCM) protein, a member of the Polycomb group (PcG) family of transcriptional repressors. To examine whether L3MBTL functions as a "classic" TSG in human hematologic malignancies, we screened a panel of 17 myeloid leukemia cell lines and peripheral blood or bone marrow samples from 29 MDS and 13 MPD patients for mutations in the entire L3MBTL coding sequence, including intron/exon splice junctions. No mutations were identified, although two single nucleotide differences were found (in intron 14 and in exon 15), which were interpreted as polymorphic changes. We used real-time RT-PCR to quantify the level of L3MBTL mRNA in various normal myeloid and lymphoid cell populations. L3MBTL is expressed in normal CD34+ bone marrow cells, and we found that the pattern of L3MBTL expression was similar to that of BMIl, a well-studied PcG gene with oncogenic activity, suggesting that L3MBTL and BMII may be co-regulated during hematopoiesis. The expression of L3MBTL mRNA in 30 of 35 cell lines and 13 of IS AML samples was comparable to the level of L3MBTL expression in the normal cell populations. However, five leukemia cell lines showed no L3MBTL expression, and two of the AML samples showed aberrant L3MBTL expression. These data suggest that L3MBTL is not mutated in MDS or MPD. However, given the known dosage effects of PcG proteins in regulating gene expression, reduced or absent L3MBTL expression may be relevant in some cases of myeloid leukemia. (C) 2004 Wiley-Liss, Inc.

  • A scintillator based time-of-flight hodoscope with a new type of emitter follower divider
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research. Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors, and Associated Equipment. - : Elsevier BV. - 0167-5087 .- 0168-9002. ; 533:3, s. 361-369
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A high precision, time-of-flight hodoscope has been constructed to analyse the secondary pion beam at GSI, Darmstadt. The hodoscope comprises three scintillator planes with the individual scintillator rods read out by photomultipliers in both ends. A new active base of the emitter follower type has been developed for stabilization of voltages at the last dynodes of the photomultiplier. The time resolution of this system was found to be sigma less than or equal to 150 ps for counting rates up to 2 MHz.

  • Investigations of Neutron Deficient Nuclei Close to 100Sn with EUROBALL
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Acta Physica Polonica. Series B: Elementary Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, Statistical Physics, Theory of Relativity, Field Theory. - 0587-4254 .- 1509-5770. ; 32, s. 999-1003
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Excited states of nuclei in the vicinity of Sn-100 have been studied using: the EUROBALL detector array. Gamma-ray lines from Sn-103 have been identified for the first time, and a level scheme of low-lying excited states of Sn-103 has been established. New constraints on energies of single particle orbitals with respect to the Sn-100 core are obtained.

  • Neutron Excitations Across the N=50 Shell Gap in 102In
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics, Section A. - : Elsevier. - 0375-9474 .- 1873-1554. ; 708:3-4, s. 181-189
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The structure of In-102 has been investigated by in-beam gamma-spectroscopic methods. Knowledge on the excited states of this nucleus has significantly been extended. Three cascades of transitions were observed to exceed the spin-energy domain spanned by the pig(9/2)(-1)v(d(5/2),g(7/2))(3) configurations. The new high spin states at similar to 4 MeV excitation energy could be assigned to the pig(9/2)(-1)v(d(5/2), g(7/2))(2)h (11/2) configuration, while at least those at 4.733, 5.192 and 5.853 MeV most likely arise from the vg(9/2) --> vd(5/2), g(7/2) one-particle-one-hole excitation across the N = 50 shell closure.
