  • Study of the response of the ATLAS central calorimeter to pions of energies from 3 to 9 GeV
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research. Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors, and Associated Equipment. - : Elsevier BV. - 0167-5087 .- 0168-9002 .- 1872-9576. ; 607:2, s. 372-386
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A fully instrumented slice of the ATLAS central detector was exposed to test beams from the SPS (Super Proton Synchrotron) at CERN in 2004. in this paper, the response of the central calorimeters to pions with energies in the range between 3 and 9 GeV is presented. The linearity and the resolution of the combined calorimetry (electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters) was measured and compared to the prediction of a detector simulation program using the toolkit Geant 4. • Fungus covered insulator materials studied with laser-induced fluorescence and principal component analysis
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Applied Spectroscopy. - : SAGE Publications. - 0003-7028 .- 1943-3530. ; 59:8, s. 1037-1041
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A method combining laser-induced fluorescence and principal component analysis to detect and discriminate between algal and fungal growth on insulator materials has been studied. Eight fungal cultures and four insulator materials have been analyzed. Multivariate classifications were utilized to characterize the insulator material, and fungal growth could readily be distinguished from a clean surface. The results of the principal component analyses make it possible to distinguish between algae infected, fungi infected, and clean silicone rubber materials. The experiments were performed in the laboratory using a fiber-optic fluorosensor that consisted of a nitrogen laser and an optical multi-channel analyzer system.

  • Compact fiber-optic fluorosensor employing light-emitting ultraviolet diodes as excitation sources
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Spectrochimica Acta, Part B: Atomic Spectroscopy. - : Elsevier BV. - 0584-8547. ; 63, s. 349-353
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A compact fluorosensor using three different ultraviolet light-emission diodes as excitation sources for fiber-optic recording of fluorescence 10 spectra from samples is described. A compact integrated spectrometer with linear array wavelength recording is used, yielding a spectral resolution 11 of about 8 nm. In two system implementations ultraviolet light-emitting diodes at 300, 340 and 395 nm, or at 360, 385 and 410 nm were used as 12 excitation sources with typical emission halfwidths of 12 nm, each combined with a matching long-path colored-glass filter automatically brought 13 into the fluorescence light flow for suppression of reflected light. Spectra from measurements on vegetation, human skin tumors and a rare-earth 14 ion-based thermographic phosphor were recorded to illustrate the system performance. 15 © 2007 Published by Elsevier B.V.

  • FLT3 mutations confer enhanced proliferation and survival properties to multipotent progenitors in a murine model of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Cancer Cell. - : Elsevier BV. - 1878-3686 .- 1535-6108. ; 12:4, s. 367-380
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Despite their known transforming properties, the effects of leukemogenic FLT3-ITD mutations on hematopoietic stem and multipotent progenitor cells and on hematopoietic differentiation are not well understood. We report a mouse model harboring an ITD in the murine Flt3 locus that develops myeloproliferative disease resembling CMML and further identified FLT3-ITD mutations in a subset of human CMML. These findings correlated with an increase in number, cell cycling, and survival of multipotent stem and progenitor cells in an ITD dose-dependent manner in animals that exhibited alterations within their myeloid progenitor compartments and a block in normal B cell development. This model provides insights into the consequences of constitutive signaling by an oncogenic tyrosine kinase on hematopoietic progenitor quiescence, function, and cell fate.

  • Genome sequence, comparative analysis and haplotype structure of the domestic dog.
  • 2005
  • Ingår i: Nature. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1476-4687 .- 0028-0836. ; 438:7069, s. 803-19
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Here we report a high-quality draft genome sequence of the domestic dog (Canis familiaris), together with a dense map of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) across breeds. The dog is of particular interest because it provides important evolutionary information and because existing breeds show great phenotypic diversity for morphological, physiological and behavioural traits. We use sequence comparison with the primate and rodent lineages to shed light on the structure and evolution of genomes and genes. Notably, the majority of the most highly conserved non-coding sequences in mammalian genomes are clustered near a small subset of genes with important roles in development. Analysis of SNPs reveals long-range haplotypes across the entire dog genome, and defines the nature of genetic diversity within and across breeds. The current SNP map now makes it possible for genome-wide association studies to identify genes responsible for diseases and traits, with important consequences for human and companion animal health.
