  • The Sixth Visual Object Tracking VOT2018 Challenge Results
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Computer Vision – ECCV 2018 Workshops. - Cham : Springer Publishing Company. - 9783030110086 - 9783030110093 ; , s. 3-53
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The Visual Object Tracking challenge VOT2018 is the sixth annual tracker benchmarking activity organized by the VOT initiative. Results of over eighty trackers are presented; many are state-of-the-art trackers published at major computer vision conferences or in journals in the recent years. The evaluation included the standard VOT and other popular methodologies for short-term tracking analysis and a “real-time” experiment simulating a situation where a tracker processes images as if provided by a continuously running sensor. A long-term tracking subchallenge has been introduced to the set of standard VOT sub-challenges. The new subchallenge focuses on long-term tracking properties, namely coping with target disappearance and reappearance. A new dataset has been compiled and a performance evaluation methodology that focuses on long-term tracking capabilities has been adopted. The VOT toolkit has been updated to support both standard short-term and the new long-term tracking subchallenges. Performance of the tested trackers typically by far exceeds standard baselines. The source code for most of the trackers is publicly available from the VOT page. The dataset, the evaluation kit and the results are publicly available at the challenge website (http://votchallenge.net).

  • Can Nup88 expression be associated with atypical endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial cancer? A preliminary study
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Pathology, Research and Practice. - : ELSEVIER GMBH, URBAN & FISCHER VERLAG. - 0344-0338 .- 1618-0631. ; 212:4, s. 274-278
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Nup88 is overexpressed in a number of types of carcinomas and is associated with myometrial invasion, but its exact expression pattern in endometrial cancer and premalignant lesions is unknown. Aims: To evaluate the role of Nup88 in endometrial cancers and atypical endometrial hyperplasia and its clinicopathological significance. Methods: Nup88 expression was examined by immunohistochemistry in samples from 104 endometrial cancers, 21 atypical endometrial hyperplasia lesions, and 40 normal endometria. All samples were from patients who underwent surgery at the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University (Shijiazhuang, China) between April 2006 and December 2009. Nup88 expression was compared between the groups and associations were assessed between Nup88 and clinicopathological characteristics of the subjects. Results: Nup88 expression in cancer (76% of samples) and atypical hyperplasia (91%) was significantly higher compared to normal endometrium (33%, both P < 0.001), but there was no significant difference between endometrial cancer and atypical hyperplasia (P = 0.237). The expression of Nup88 increased significantly with increasing exposure time to estrogen (P = 0.033). Conclusions: Nup88 may be related to the occurrence of endometrial cancers and premalignant lesions. Nup88 might be a useful biomarker for pre-malignant lesions and early-stage endometrial cancer. • Understanding the electrochemical properties of A(2)MSiO(4) (A = Li and Na; M = Fe, Mn, Co and Ni) and the Na doping effect on Li2MSiO4 from first-principles calculations
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Journal of Materials Chemistry A. - : Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). - 2050-7488 .- 2050-7496. ; 4:44, s. 17455-17463
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • To explore the feasibility of regarding silicate materials as sustainable cathode materials for rechargeable Na ion batteries, the voltage plateaus, cycling stabilities, electrical conductivities and ionic conductivities of Li2MSiO4 and Na2MSiO4 (M = Fe, Mn, Co and Ni) are investigated by first principles calculations. The calculated electrochemical performance of silicate materials gives reasonable explanations for the poor capacity retention of Li2MnSiO4 as well as the reason why Li2FeSiO4 and Li2CoSiO4 exchange only one Li ion per formula unit. In comparison with Na2MSiO4, Li2MSiO4 presents higher voltage and better cycling stability. However, Na2MSiO4 displays higher electrical and ionic conductivities. Moreover, Na2NiSiO4 also presents significant potential for application as a good cathode material for Na ion batteries, as it can deliver high voltage and reversibly exchange 1.5 Li ions per formula unit. Furthermore, to make full use of the advantages of Li2MSiO4 and Na2MSiO4, a Na doped Li1.5Na0.5MSiO4 system is explored as well. The results suggest that Na doping can improve the electronic and ionic conductivities of Li2MSiO4 materials and simultaneously maintain the voltage and cycling stability. Therefore, Na ion doping should be an effective methodology to improve the performance of Li2MSiO4 cathode materials.

  • Novel Common Genetic Susceptibility Loci for Colorectal Cancer.
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: Journal of the National Cancer Institute. - : Oxford University Press (OUP). - 0027-8874 .- 1460-2105. ; 111:2, s. 146-157
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified 42 loci (P < 5 × 10-8) associated with risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). Expanded consortium efforts facilitating the discovery of additional susceptibility loci may capture unexplained familial risk. Methods: We conducted a GWAS in European descent CRC cases and control subjects using a discovery-replication design, followed by examination of novel findings in a multiethnic sample (cumulative n = 163 315). In the discovery stage (36 948 case subjects/30 864 control subjects), we identified genetic variants with a minor allele frequency of 1% or greater associated with risk of CRC using logistic regression followed by a fixed-effects inverse variance weighted meta-analysis. All novel independent variants reaching genome-wide statistical significance (two-sided P < 5 × 10-8) were tested for replication in separate European ancestry samples (12 952 case subjects/48 383 control subjects). Next, we examined the generalizability of discovered variants in East Asians, African Americans, and Hispanics (12 085 case subjects/22 083 control subjects). Finally, we examined the contributions of novel risk variants to familial relative risk and examined the prediction capabilities of a polygenic risk score. All statistical tests were two-sided.Results: The discovery GWAS identified 11 variants associated with CRC at P < 5 × 10-8, of which nine (at 4q22.2/5p15.33/5p13.1/6p21.31/6p12.1/10q11.23/12q24.21/16q24.1/20q13.13) independently replicated at a P value of less than .05. Multiethnic follow-up supported the generalizability of discovery findings. These results demonstrated a 14.7% increase in familial relative risk explained by common risk alleles from 10.3% (95% confidence interval [CI] = 7.9% to 13.7%; known variants) to 11.9% (95% CI = 9.2% to 15.5%; known and novel variants). A polygenic risk score identified 4.3% of the population at an odds ratio for developing CRC of at least 2.0.Conclusions: This study provides insight into the architecture of common genetic variation contributing to CRC etiology and improves risk prediction for individualized screening.

  • Total mercury and methylmercury concentrations over a gradient of contamination in earthworms living in rice paddy soil
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry. - : Wiley. - 0730-7268 .- 1552-8618. ; 36:5, s. 1202-1210
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Mercury (Hg) deposited from emissions or from local contamination, can have serious health effects on humans and wildlife. Traditionally, Hg has been seen as a threat to aquatic wildlife, because of its conversion in suboxic conditions into bioavailable methylmercury (MeHg), but it can also threaten contaminated terrestrial ecosystems. In Asia, rice paddies in particular may be sensitive ecosystems. Earthworms are soil-dwelling organisms that have been used as indicators of Hg bioavailability; however, the MeHg concentrations they accumulate in rice paddy environments are not well known. Earthworm and soil samples were collected from rice paddies at progressive distances from abandoned mercury mines in Guizhou, China, and at control sites without a history of Hg mining. Total Hg (THg) and MeHg concentrations declined in soil and earthworms as distance increased from the mines, but the percentage of THg that was MeHg, and the bioaccumulation factors in earthworms, increased over this gradient. This escalation in methylation and the incursion of MeHg into earthworms may be influenced by more acidic soil conditions and higher organic content further from the mines. In areas where the source of Hg is deposition, especially in water-logged and acidic rice paddy soil, earthworms may biomagnify MeHg more than was previously reported. It is emphasized that rice paddy environments affected by acidifying deposition may be widely dispersed throughout Asia.
