Konferensbidrag (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
- The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into how thesuccessors of family-owned manufacturing SMEs view and manageinnovativeness. Research into company take-overs mainly focuses on largecompanies and little is known about innovativeness in research on familyownedbusinesses, often SMEs. This paper presents findings from ten companysuccessions, five of which describe family successions and five external ones. The paper shows that there is little difference in how various types of successorview and manage innovativeness. A successor is chosen with care and this alsoinfluences the view and management of innovativeness: other criteria seem toapply in the succession and any (radical) changes can only be introduced if anumber of contextual factors are managed properly.

- 2011
-
Ingår i: 13th Annual SNEE (Swedish Network for European Economic Research) Conference, May 17-20, 2011 . Session F1: European Corporate Finance. ; , s. 1-16

Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- We study underpricing and equity holdings following initial public offerings (IPOs) in Sweden over the sample period 2000 through 2009. We document, as most prior studies of IPOs, that they on average are underpriced (i.e., associated with a positive initial return). IPOs with a low (high) initial return have higher (lower) equity holdings by retail investors. Our analysis of domicile of institutional investors indicates that foreign institutional investors have preferences for holdings in IPOs characterized by a high initial return and large capitalization values. Analysis of overseas institutional holdings indicates existence of information asymmetries related to distance.

Understanding Dynamics of Pro-Poor Innovation: Mapping the Disputed Areas
- 2011
-
Ingår i: Final DIME conference. - Maastricht, The Netherlands.
-
Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
- Pro‐poor innovation, the innovation that serves the needs of poor, is currently discussed in various spheres including management, development and innovation studies. There are many emerging concepts such as “Bottom /Base of Pyramid (BOP)” (Prahalad and Hart, 2002; Prahalad, 2004; Hart, 2005), “inclusive business” (UNDP, 2008), “grass roots innovation” (Gupta, 2000), “appropriate technology” (Schumacher, 1973, etc) and “below the radar innovation” (Kaplinksy et al, 2010, Kaplinsky, 2011). All of the se literature suggests that new mechanism to foster innovation is needed to alleviate poverty. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the meaning of new concepts under the umbrella of ‘pro‐poor innovation’ in an aim to identify missing gaps and update what we know so far on this subject. We will do so because each concept has different strengths and weaknesses on their approach to address the poor, while these are co‐evolving. We also conduct a preliminary analysis on current “successful” cases of inclusive business using qualitative database of UNDP as am exercise to learn what are the constraints in materializing the pro‐poor innovation. We are aware that the data collected by UNDP is not most represented of the whole population; however, with 120 cases, it is one of the largest collected systematically on this subject. Based on those identified factors together with the conceptual understanding, this paper attempt to map the current picture and the future trajectory of activities to harness the power of innovation for the benefit of the poor and offers venues for complementing the international development and private sector initiatives.

This definition is based on western philosophy as well as on the findings of psychological research on moral problem solving and decision making. Building on that a training program was developed containing four blocks of seventeen exercises. Participants coming from different organizations used the exercises on their own professional problems. After training, participants showed higher scores on ethical autonomy up to two and a half years later. The results showed clearly that the participants used their new skills in their real professional life and that they were very satisfied.
