  • Customer involvement through online communities
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Consumer Information Systems and Relationship Management. - : IGI Global. - 9781466640825 - 1466640820 ; , s. 92-109
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Development of new online collaborative technologies provides businesses with new opportunities to interact with customers and get them involved more actively in product or service development processes. Different types of online communities provide access to global customers: their ideas and opinions. This chapter presents a review of three types of online communities which might be valuable for businesses, namely marketing activities and new product development. Online communities can assist companies in benefitting from the “wisdom of crowds”, creating customer-oriented image, boosting product portfolio with new ideas and handling negative online publicity. While some types of communities are more effective for solving sharply defined tasks, others can help with creative views due to members’ ability to think “outside of the box”.

  • Internet viewing and buying habits : a cross-cultural study
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: AIMS International Journal of Management. - : A I M S International. - 1939-7011. ; 4:3, s. 5-19
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Today’s college students are technologically savvy, have greater disposable income, and are comfortable shopping. A cross-cultural study of college students from various countries was conducted to determine their Internet viewing and buying habits. This paper focuses on cross-cultural comparison of Sweden, Germany, and USA respondents. The results reveal the amount of time spent online, the time of the day when they are online, the sites they frequent, and the type and amount of their online purchases. Statistically significant differences in viewing and buying habits were found between students from the various countries. Implications for businesses are offered as well.

  • On the median regression for SURE models with applications to 3-generation immigrants data in Sweden
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Economic Modelling. - : Elsevier. - 0264-9993 .- 1873-6122. ; 28:6, s. 2566-2578
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper we generalize the median regression method to be applicable to system of regression equations, in particular SURE models. Giving the existence of proper system wise medians of the residuals from different equations, we apply the weighted median regression with the weights obtained from the covariance matrix of the equations obtained from ordinary SURE method. The benefit of this model in our case is that the SURE estimators utilise the information present in the cross regression (or equations) error correlation and hence more efficient than other estimation methods like the OLS method. The Seemingly Unrelated Median Regression Equations (SUMRE) models produce results that are more robust than the usual SURE or single equations OLS estimation when the distributions of the dependent variables are not normally distributed or the data are associated with outliers. Moreover, the results are also more efficient than is the cases of single equations median regressions when the residuals from the different equations are correlated. A theorem is derived and indicates that even if there is no statistically significant correlation between the equations, using SUMRE model instead of SURE models will not damage the estimation of parameters.

  • Uppföljning av "Eget val" i hemtjänsten i Linköpings kommun : Utförarperspektiv
  • 2010
Marknadsbegreppet används därför i analysen.

  • Approaches for  Reducing Medical Errors &  Increasing Patient Safety : TRM, Quality  and 5 Qs Methods
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Approaches for Reducing Medical Errors.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • On important goal in any country should be to deliver safe and  high-quality health care to patients in all clinical settings. Despite the best intentions, however, a high rate of largely preventable adverse events and medical errors occur that cause harm to patients.Medical errors are one of many Nations´ leading causes of death and injury. In USA, between 50,000 to 100,000 people die in U.S. hospitals each year and 1 000 000 excess injures as the result of medical errors (MEs) and adverse events (AEs). 23% of Europeans argue that they have been directly affected by a medical errors personally or in the family. over 3000 people die in Sweden, 185,000 case are associated with an adverse event in Canada and almost 11% of total deaths in Australia are caused by medical errors. Mixed up test results, injuries suffered during childbirth, infections following surgery, and incorrect drug dosages are just a few of the harmful errors. This means that more people die from medical errors than from motor vehicle accidents, breast cancer, or AIDS. One question is How many patients need to die before the media, government, county councils and care planners start to take serious actions to prevent such lose of people because of the medical errors?Total relationship medical management (TRMM) emphasizes the totality and the holistic nature of a relationship which includes internal and external factors, functions and resources inside and outside any health care organization/institution. TRMM includes 5 generic quality dimensions (5 Qs) and measurements.  5Qs will be used in this study to identify the shortcoming of a health care institution to reduce the medical errors which lead to the increase of physicians and patients relationship.

  • Measuring, Evaluating and Improving Hospital Quality Parameters/Dimensions : An Integrated Healthcare Quality Approach
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Health Care Quality Assurance. - : Emerald Group Publishing Limited. - 0952-6862 .- 1758-6542. ; 24:8, s. 654-662
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose – This paper aims to examine the major factors affecting cumulative summation, to empirically examine the major factors affecting satisfaction and to address the question whether patients in Kazakhstan evaluate healthcare similarly or differently from patients in Egypt and Jordan.Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire, adapted from previous research, was distributed to Kazakhstan inpatients. The questionnaire contained 39 attributes about five newly-developed quality dimensions (5Qs), which were identified to be the most relevant attributes for hospitals. The questionnaire was translated into Russian to increase the response rate and improve data quality. Almost 200 usable questionnaires were returned. Frequency distribution, factor analysis and reliability checks were used to analyze the data.Findings – The three biggest concerns for Kazakhstan patients are: infrastructure; atmosphere; and interaction. Hospital staff's concern for patients' needs, parking facilities for visitors, waiting time and food temperature were all common specific attributes, which were perceived as concerns. These were shortcomings in all three countries. Improving health service quality by applying total relationship management and the 5Qs model together with a customer-orientation strategy is recommended.Practical implications – Results can be used by hospital staff to reengineer and redesign creatively their quality management processes and help move towards more effective healthcare quality strategies.Social implications – Patients in three countries have similar concerns and quality perceptions.Originality/value – The paper describes a new instrument and method. The study assures relevance, validity and reliability, while being explicitly change-oriented. The authors argue that patient satisfaction is a cumulative construct, summing satisfaction as five different qualities (5Qs): object; processes; infrastructure; interaction and atmosphere.

  • Managers' foresight matters
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Foresight. - : Emerald. - 1463-6689 .- 1465-9832. ; 13:2, s. 64-78
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Purpose – To assess the relationship between the foresight of managers and firm performance.Design/methodology/approach – An evolutionary perspective is deployed to specify thepresumed relationship between managerial foresight and firm performance measures. Apositive relationship between managerial foresight and firm performance is proposed. Thehypothesis is tested through Spearman’s rho, on Swedish managers, and firms in the computerprogramming industry. Managers’ foresight as well as performance is assessed as indexes.Findings – A moderate and statistically significant positive relationship between managers’foresight and firm performance.Theoretical implications – There is support for the theoretical relationship betweenmanagerial foresight and firm performance. There is a strong rationale for further studies.Originality/value – The paper provides empirical evidence regarding the importance ofmanagerial foresight for firm performance.

  • Assessing Public Managers' Change-Oriented Behavior : Are Private Managers Caught in the Doldrums?
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: International Journal of Public Administration. - : Taylor & Francis. - 0190-0692 .- 1532-4265. ; 33:6, s. 335-345
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This article presents a concept and a measurement of managers' change-oriented behavior related to the initiation and implementation organizational change. It is argued that managers have an optimal potential for achieving organizational changes if they have the change-centered leadership style, are intuitive, recognize demands for change, and have power-motivated behavior. Public and private managers are significantly different in relation to change-oriented behavior based on data from 343 managers in two public organizations and one private. One result was unexpected: public managers are more change-oriented than managers in business organizations. As expected, there is no significant difference in change-oriented behavior among managers in public agencies. Possible explanations for these outcomes are presented.

  • Public vs. private managers. : How public and private managers differ in leadership behavior.
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: PAR. Public Administration Review. - : Wiley. - 0033-3352 .- 1540-6210. ; 70:1, s. 131-141
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This article aims to find out whether there are behavioral differences between public and private sector managers. Two groups of public managers (managers of social insurance agencies and public school principals) and a group of private managers (two samples) are investigated. Behavioral dimensions are investigated including leadership style (task, relationship, and change orientation), decision-making style (the functions of sensing, intuition, thinking, and feeling), and motivation profile (achievement, affiliation, and power motivation). An analysis of data from 459 managers in four organizations in Sweden reveal significant differences in behavior between public and private managers. However, no significant differences in leadership behavior are discovered among public managers. Possible explanations for such differences and similarities are explored.
