- In this Letter, we show that a Gaussian averaged neutrino oscillation model is equivalent to a neutrino decoherence model. Without loss of generality, the analysis is performed with two neutrino flavors. We also estimate the damping (or decoherence) parameter for atmospheric neutrinos and compare it to earlier obtained results.

- Cross sections for glueball production in hadron-induced reactions are estimated using the gluon-gluon fusion mechanism. For pp → θ(1700, JPC = 2++)X one finds σθ ∼ 2-10 mb in ISR-collider energy range. This cross section should give a clean experimental signal given the substantial KK decay mode observed in ψ → γθ.

- A statistical analysis has been done for the variation of the moment of inertia in pairs of rotational bands between odd-A and adjacent A - 1 even-even nuclei at normal deformation. A smooth distribution centered at small differences or no difference is obtained but apart from this, no special surplus of so-called identical bands is found. Furthermore, it is found that upsloping orbitals are predominantly involved when forming bands with similar moments of inertia.

- High-spin states in Lu-165 have been investigated by in-beam gamma-ray coincidence spectroscopy using the EUROBALL spectrometer array. Two new excited rotational bands have been discovered with features similar to a previously known triaxial superdeformed band in that nucleus. Comparison of the decay pattern of these bands, in particular the unusually large E2 transition strength from the first excited to the yrast superdeformed band, to theoretical calculations shows that they belong to a family of wobbling excitations with phonon numbers n(w) = 0, 1 and 2. These results, together with evidence for nuclear wobbling in the neighbouring isotopes Lu-163 and Lu-167, firmly establish this mode of excitation in the A = 165 mass region. The observation of wobbling is a unique signature of stable nuclear triaxiality. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

- Differential cross sections (σ(Eγ,θn)) for the He(γ,n) reaction have been measured at Eγ=50–71 MeV and θn=30–120°. These data are compared with theoretical predictions where a microscopic calculation of the He and He wavefunctions has been made within the Alt-Grassberger-Sandhas, integral-equation formalism.
