- A metallurgical comparison of alternatives to increase the capacity to treat contaminated raw materials was made. The comparison was made by calculating the material balances at different Cu contents in mattes during Cu making and considering the effects of removal of impure intermediate products like dusts and slag for separate treatment. The most efficient methods included the removal of dust from the smelting furnace and the avoidance of reducing conditions in the matte smelting operation. By separating dust and slag produced in the Cu converters, an improved capacity could also be obtained. The removal of impurities made it possible to significantly increase the use of contaminated raw materials but, to drastically increase the impurity capacity, the introduction of pretreatment processes like roasting or leaching was necessary.

- A project is described dealing with the measuring of TCP speed of an industrial robot and a conventional three-axis cutting machine, with the aim of continuously regulating the laser output power in proportion to the actual speed. It is shown, on the basis of realistic trials, how it is possible to achieve even surface quality resulting from laser cutting when applying the method mentioned (to A666SS). A common problem during laser processing, together with industrial robots, is the difficulty of obtaining constant speed of the robot path throughout the actual processing sequence. This is of particular significance, especially in the case of laser welding when too much power/unit length may burn holes in the workpiece. A method where one accepts that the TCP-speed can vary and control the power applied by the laser, in relation to the above speed, is decided upon. The method is based on a microcomputer system that computes the actual TCP-speed and, together with operator supplied processing parameters, controls the laser power. The microcomputer system has a lot of built-in knowledge about the cutting and welding process and can be used as a database when processing different kinds of materials.

- Thirty-five patients operated on for femoral neck fracture were studied. Fifteen (42.9%) became acutely confused after surgery. Problems in the 14 components of basic nursing care (Henderson 1964), were identified by means of interviews with the patients and their caregivers. The quantitative analysis of the results showed that significantly more of the acutely confused patients had problems in nine out of 14 components of basic nursing care as compared with the non-confused patients. The qualitative analysis showed that the problems of the non-confused patients were mostly caused by the fracture and by hospitalisation. The same problems were also present among the acutely confused patients who, in addition, had problems which arose from the acute confusional state

- Summary The mechanical impedance of the hand and arm was studied on ten healthy subjects during exposure to sinusoidal vibration within the frequency range of 2 to 1000 Hz. A special handle for the measurements was constructed. The influence of vibration direction, handle grip, grip force, vibration level, hand-arm posture and sex as well as anthropometric data were studied. The results show that the impedance of the hand-arm mainly depends on the frequency and direction of the vibration stimuli. Higher vibration levels, as well as more firm hand-grips, resulted in higher impedance. Furthermore, the outcome shows that experiments conducted with different hand-arm postures had an active influence on the mechanical impedance. Moreover, the subjects' sex and constitution of the hand and arm affected the impedance to a large extent.
