  • PHENIX first measurement of J/Psi elliptic flow parameter v2 in Au-Au collisions at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics. - : IOP Publishing. - 0954-3899 .- 1361-6471. ; 35
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Recent results indicate that the J/ψ suppression pattern differs with rapidity showing a larger suppression at forward rapidity. J/ψ suppression mechanisms based on energy density (such as color screening, interaction with co-movers, etc) predict the opposite trend. However, it is expected that more pairs should be available to form quarkonia at mid-rapidity via recombination. Some models provide a way to differentiate J/ψ production from initially produced pairs and final state recombination of uncorrelated pairs, via the rapidity and transverse momentum dependence of the elliptic flow (v2). During 2007 data taking at RHIC, a large sample of Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV was collected. The statistics has been increased compared to the previous 2004 data set, thus allowing a more precise measurement of the J/ψ production at both mid and forward rapidity. Furthermore, the PHENIX experiment benefited from the addition of a new detector, which improves the reaction plane resolution and allows us to measure the J/ψv2. Comparing this measurement to the positive D-mesons v2 (through non-photonic electron decays) will help in constraining the J/ψ production mechanisms and getting a more precise picture of the proportion of J/ψ coming from direct production or charm quark coalescence. Details on how the J/ψv2 is measured at mid-rapidity are presented. The J/ψv2 as a function of transverse momentum are compared with the existing models.

  • The PreAmplifier ShAper for the ALICE TPC detector
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research. Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors, and Associated Equipment. - : Elsevier BV. - 0167-5087 .- 0168-9002. ; 676, s. 106-119
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper the PreAmplifier ShAper (PASA) for the Time Projection Chamber (TPC) of the ALICE experiment at LHC is presented. The ALICE TPC PASA is an ASIC that integrates 16 identical channels, each consisting of Charge Sensitive Amplifiers (CSA) followed by a Pole-Zero network, self-adaptive bias network, two second-order bridged-T filters, two non-inverting level shifters and a start-up circuit. The circuit is optimized for a detector capacitance of 18-25 pF. For an input capacitance of 25 pF, the PASA features a conversion gain of 12.74 mV/fC, a peaking time of 160 ns, a FWHM of 190 ns, a power consumption of 11.65 mW/ch and an equivalent noise charge of 244e + 17e/pF. The circuit recovers smoothly to the baseline in about 600 ns. An integral non-linearity of 0.19% with an output swing of about 2.1 V is also achieved. The total area of the chip is 18 mm(2) and is implemented in AMS's C35B3C1 0.35 mu m CMOS technology. Detailed characterization tests were performed on about 48 000 PASA circuits before mounting them on the ALICE TPC front-end cards. After more than two years of operation of the ALICE TPC with p-p and Pb-Pb collisions, the PASA has demonstrated to fulfill all requirements. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
