  • Scalable inkjet printing of shear-exfoliated graphene transparent conductive films
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Carbon. - : Elsevier BV. - 0008-6223 .- 1873-3891. ; 102, s. 51-57
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this study, we demonstrate scalable and efficient inkjet printing of graphene flexible transparent conducting films (TCFs). The highly concentrated and stable graphene ink (3.2 mg/mL) that is dominated by 4-layer graphene flakes is achieved by means of shear exfoliation process. The printed graphene TCFs with DC conductivity of ∼4 × 104 S/m (sheet resistance 260 Ω/□ coupled with optical transparency of 86%) without intentional doping are readily obtained. Excellent flexibility and air stability of the printed graphene TCFs allow their potential applications in different flexible opto-electronics devices. Systematic investigation of the inkjet printing of graphene and the annealing effect on the graphene TCFs is presented.

  • Synthesis of novel CuO@Graphene nanocomposites for lubrication application via a convenient and economical method
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Wear. - : Elsevier. - 0043-1648 .- 1873-2577. ; 498-499
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Graphene-based nano lubricant additives attract more and more attention because of their superior lubricating performance as well as green and ashless properties. Graphene-based nanocomposites exhibit excellent tribological performances due to the synergistic “slide-roll” effect. In this work, we developed a novel nanocomposite constructed by graphene materials (G) and CuO nanoparticles, named CuO@G, which has superior tribological properties to each component (pure CuO or pure graphene materials) and the mixture (Graphene + CuO) under different testing conditions due to the synergistic effect. By adding 0.5 wt% CuO@G to PAO-6 oil, the coefficient of friction (COF) is reduced by more than 50%, and the wear scar almost disappears. The study provides a novel and promising method for the synthesis of graphene-based lubrication nanomaterials, which has high potential for lubrication applications.

  • ANDES, the high resolution spectrograph for the ELT : science case, baseline design and path to construction
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: GROUND-BASED AND AIRBORNE INSTRUMENTATION FOR ASTRONOMY IX. - : SPIE - International Society for Optical Engineering. - 9781510653504 - 9781510653498
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The first generation of ELT instruments includes an optical-infrared high resolution spectrograph, indicated as ELT-HIRES and recently christened ANDES (ArmazoNes high Dispersion Echelle Spectrograph). ANDES consists of three fibre-fed spectrographs (UBV, RIZ, YJH) providing a spectral resolution of similar to 100,000 with a minimum simultaneous wavelength coverage of 0.4-1.8 mu m with the goal of extending it to 0.35-2.4 mu m with the addition of a K band spectrograph. It operates both in seeing- and diffraction-limited conditions and the fibre-feeding allows several, interchangeable observing modes including a single conjugated adaptive optics module and a small diffraction-limited integral field unit in the NIR. Its modularity will ensure that ANDES can be placed entirely on the ELT Nasmyth platform, if enough mass and volume is available, or partly in the Coude room. ANDES has a wide range of groundbreaking science cases spanning nearly all areas of research in astrophysics and even fundamental physics. Among the top science cases there are the detection of biosignatures from exoplanet atmospheres, finding the fingerprints of the first generation of stars, tests on the stability of Nature's fundamental couplings, and the direct detection of the cosmic acceleration. The ANDES project is carried forward by a large international consortium, composed of 35 Institutes from 13 countries, forming a team of more than 200 scientists and engineers which represent the majority of the scientific and technical expertise in the field among ESO member states.

  • Unraveling the Mechanism of the IrIII-Catalyzed Regiospecific Synthesis of α-Chlorocarbonyl Compounds from Allylic Alcohols
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Chemistry - A European Journal. - : Wiley. - 0947-6539 .- 1521-3765. ; 26:65, s. 14978-14986
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We have used experimental studies and DFT calculations to investigate the IrIII-catalyzed isomerization of allylic alcohols into carbonyl compounds, and the regiospecific isomerization–chlorination of allylic alcohols into α-chlorinated carbonyl compounds. The mechanism involves a hydride elimination followed by a migratory insertion step that may take place at Cβ but also at Cα with a small energy-barrier difference of 1.8 kcal mol−1. After a protonation step, calculations show that the final tautomerization can take place both at the Ir center and outside the catalytic cycle. For the isomerization–chlorination reaction, calculations show that the chlorination step takes place outside the cycle with an energy barrier much lower than that for the tautomerization to yield the saturated ketone. All the energies in the proposed mechanism are plausible, and the cycle accounts for the experimental observations.

  • Accelerating 5G QoE via public-private spectrum sharing
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: IEEE Communications Magazine. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. - 0163-6804 .- 1558-1896. ; 52:5, s. 77-85
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Fifth generation wireless systems (5G) must achieve high user Quality of Experience (QoE) in order to compete for market share. Each candidate 5G wireless radio frequency (RF) band offers advantages such as longer range or higher data rate than 2G, 3G, and 4G, but no single band or air interface standard by itself fully achieves ubiquitous levels of QoE for the complete range of wireless access devices. Spectrum clearing cannot keep pace with user demand, so public-private spectrum sharing is emerging as an affordable, near-term method of increasing radio access network (RAN) capacities for content delivery. This paper presents a fresh look at QoE; spectrum scarcity; public uses that underutilize candidate 5G radio frequency (RF) spectrum; and emerging public-private radio interference management frameworks that enable near-term spectrum sharing, with positive consequences for 5G price, performance, and total user QoE.

  • Stratifying Type 2 Diabetes Cases by BMI Identifies Genetic Risk Variants in LAMA1 and Enrichment for Risk Variants in Lean Compared to Obese Cases
  • 2012
  • Ingår i: PLoS Genetics. - : Public Library of Science (PLoS). - 1553-7404. ; 8:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Common diseases such as type 2 diabetes are phenotypically heterogeneous. Obesity is a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes, but patients vary appreciably in body mass index. We hypothesized that the genetic predisposition to the disease may be different in lean (BMI<25 Kg/m(2)) compared to obese cases (BMI >= 30 Kg/m(2)). We performed two case-control genome-wide studies using two accepted cut-offs for defining individuals as overweight or obese. We used 2,112 lean type 2 diabetes cases (BMI<25 kg/m(2)) or 4,123 obese cases (BMI >= 30 kg/m(2)), and 54,412 un-stratified controls. Replication was performed in 2,881 lean cases or 8,702 obese cases, and 18,957 un-stratified controls. To assess the effects of known signals, we tested the individual and combined effects of SNPs representing 36 type 2 diabetes loci. After combining data from discovery and replication datasets, we identified two signals not previously reported in Europeans. A variant (rs8090011) in the LAMA1 gene was associated with type 2 diabetes in lean cases (P = 8.4610 29, OR = 1.13 [95% CI 1.09-1.18]), and this association was stronger than that in obese cases (P = 0.04, OR = 1.03 [95% CI 1.00-1.06]). A variant in HMG20A-previously identified in South Asians but not Europeans-was associated with type 2 diabetes in obese cases (P = 1.3 x 10(-8), OR= 1.11 [95% CI 1.07-1.15]), although this association was not significantly stronger than that in lean cases (P = 0.02, OR = 1.09 [95% CI 1.02-1.17]). For 36 known type 2 diabetes loci, 29 had a larger odds ratio in the lean compared to obese (binomial P = 0.0002). In the lean analysis, we observed a weighted per-risk allele OR = 1.13 [95% CI 1.10-1.17], P = 3.2 x 10(-14). This was larger than the same model fitted in the obese analysis where the OR = 1.06 [95% CI 1.05-1.08], P = 2.2 x 10(-16). This study provides evidence that stratification of type 2 diabetes cases by BMI may help identify additional risk variants and that lean cases may have a stronger genetic predisposition to type 2 diabetes.

  • Highly Diastereoselective Palladium-Catalyzed Oxidative Cascade Carbonylative Carbocyclization of Enallenols
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Organic Letters. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 1523-7060 .- 1523-7052. ; 22:2, s. 417-421
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A palladium-catalyzed oxidative cascade carbonylative carbocyclization of enallenols was developed. Under mild reaction conditions, a range of cis-fused [5,5] bicyclic gamma-lactones and gamma-lactams with a 1,3-diene motif were obtained in good yields with high diastereoselectivity. The obtained lactone/lactam products are viable substrates for a stereoselective Diels-Alder reaction with N-phenylmaleimide, providing polycyclic compounds with increased molecular complexity.

  • Pb2MnTeO6 Double Perovskite : An Antipolar Anti-ferromagnet
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Inorganic Chemistry. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). - 0020-1669 .- 1520-510X. ; 55:9, s. 4320-4329
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Pb2MnTeO6, a new double perovskite, was synthesized. Its crystal structure was determined by synchrotron X-ray and powder neutron diffraction. Pb2MnTeO6 is monoclinic (I2/m) at room temperature with a regular arrangement of all the cations in their polyhedra. However, when the temperature is lowered to similar to 120 K it undergoes a phase transition from I2/m to C2/c structure. This transition is accompanied by a displacement of the Pb atoms from the center of their polyhedra due to the 6s2 lone-pair electrons, together with a surprising off-centering of Mn2+ (d5) magnetic cations. This strong first-order phase transition is also evidenced by specific heat, dielectric, Raman, and infrared spectroscopy measurements. The magnetic characterizations indicate an anti-ferromagnetic (AFM) order below TN approximate to 20 K; analysis of powder neutron diffraction data confirms the magnetic structure with propagation vector k = (0 1 0) and collinear AFM spins. The observed jump in dielectric permittivity near similar to 150 K implies possible anti-ferroelectric behavior; however, the absence of switching suggests that Pb2MnTeO6 can only be antipolar. First-principle calculations confirmed that the crystal and magnetic structures determined are locally stable and that anti-ferroelectric switching is unlikely to be observed in Pb2MnTeO6.
