  • Solar wind dynamics around a comet : A 2D semi-analytical kinetic model
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Astronomy and Astrophysics. - : EDP Sciences. - 0004-6361 .- 1432-0746. ; 620
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Aims.We aim at analytically modelling the solar wind proton trajectories during their interaction with a partially ionised cometaryatmosphere, not in terms of bulk properties of the flow but in terms of single particle dynamics.Methods.We first derive a generalised gyromotion, in which the electric field is reduced to its motional component. Steady-stateis assumed, and simplified models of the cometary density and of the electron fluid are used to express the force experienced byindividual solar wind protons during the interaction.Results.A three-dimensional (3D) analytical expression of the gyration of two interacting plasma beams is obtained. Applying it to acomet case, the force on protons is always perpendicular to their velocity and has an amplitude proportional to 1/r2. The solar winddeflection is obtained at any point in space. The resulting picture presents a caustic of intersecting trajectories, and a circular regionis found that is completely free of particles. The particles do not lose any kinetic energy and this absence of deceleration, togetherwith the solar wind deflection pattern and the presence of a solar wind ion cavity, is in good agreement with the general results of theRosettamission.Conclusions.The qualitative match between the model and thein situdata highlights how dominant the motional electric field isthroughout most of the interaction region for the solar wind proton dynamics. The model provides a simple general kinetic descriptionof how momentum is transferred between these two collisionless plasmas. It also shows the potential of this semi-analytical modelfor a systematic quantitative comparison to the data.

  • The impact of elevated serum IgG4 levels in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Digestive and Liver Disease. - : Elsevier BV. - 1590-8658. ; 46:10, s. 903-908
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Background: Elevated IgG4 levels have been reported among patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis. Epidemiological data has only been provided from tertiary centres. Aims: To investigate the prevalence of elevated IgG4 levels and to compare prognosis between patients with and without elevated IgG4 levels in serum in two European cohorts of patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis. Methods: Serum IgG4-levels were measured in a consecutive series of patients from Berlin, and retrospectively collected in a population-based cohort from Sweden (total N = 345). Cox's proportional hazard analysis was used to calculate relative risks for liver-related death or liver transplantation and cholangiocarcinoma. Results: Elevated IgG4 values were demonstrated in 10% of patients. A previous history of pancreatitis, combined intra-and extrahepatic biliary involvement and jaundice were independently associated with elevated IgG4 in multivariate analysis. IgG4 status was not associated with an increased risk for the combined endpoint liver-related death or liver transplantation or cholangiocarcinoma. Conclusion: The prevalence of elevated IgG4 values among European patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis is similar to what previously has been reported from the United States. Elevated IgG4 was not associated with an increased risk of liver transplantation or liver-related death or cholangiocarcinoma.

  • Association between HLA haplotypes and increased serum levels of IgG4 in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Gastroenterology. - : Elsevier BV. - 0016-5085 .- 1528-0012. ; 148:5
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Increased serum levels of IgG4 have been reported in 9%-15% of patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC); it is not clear whether this increase contributes to pathogenesis. We performed genetic analyses of the HLA complex in patients with PSC from Norway, Sweden, and from the United States. We found an association between levels of IgG4 above the upper reference limit and specific HLA haplotypes. These patients had a significantly lower frequency of the strongest PSC risk factor, HLA-B∗08, than patients without increased IgG4, and significantly higher frequencies of HLA-B∗07 and HLA-DRB1∗15. HLA genotype therefore might affect the serum concentration of IgG4, and increased IgG4 might be a marker of a distinct phenotype of PSC. © 2015 AGA Institute.

  • Data Flow and Communication Framework Supporting Digital Twin for Geometry Assurance
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: ASME 2017 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition. ; 2
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Faster optimization algorithms, increased computer power and amount of available data, can leverage the area of simulation towards real-time control and optimization of products and production systems. This concept — often referred to as Digital Twin — enables real-time geometry assurance and allows moving from mass production to more individualized production. To master the challenges of a Digital Twin for Geometry Assurance the project Smart Assembly 4.0 gathers Swedish researchers within product development, automation, virtual manufacturing, control theory, data analysis and machine learning. The vision of Smart Assembly 4.0 is the autonomous, self-optimizing robotized assembly factory, which maximizes quality and throughput, while keeping flexibility and reducing cost, by a sensing, thinking and acting strategy. The concept is based on active part matching and self-adjusting equipment which improves geometric quality without tightening the tolerances of incoming parts. The goal is to assemble products with higher quality than the incoming parts. The concept utilizes information about individual parts to be joined (sensing), selects the best combination of parts (thinking) and adjust locator positions, clamps, weld/rivet positions and sequences (acting). The project is ongoing, and this paper specifies and highlights the infrastructure, components and data flows necessary in the Digital Twin in order to realize Smart Assembly 4.0. The framework is generic, but the paper focuses on a spot weld station where two robots join two sheet metal parts in an adjustable fixture.

  • Developmental bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) exposure causes cell over-proliferation in Drosophila
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Since the estrogenic activity of bisphenol A had been reported, the industry started to find a proper replacement. Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) is one of the derivatives of BPA which is used widely in epoxy resin manufactory. Recently, some studies have demonstrated the adverse effects of BADGE on reproduction and development. However, the knowledge of BADGE is still scarce. Because of its hydrolytic property, BADGE is usually detected at a low level in commodities and the influences seem to be underestimated. In our study, we use the whole transcriptome sequencing to assess the effects of developmental BADGE exposure on Drosophila melanogaster. Notably, the genes related to cell proliferation are significantly affected by BADGE exposure. More detailed, a group of mitotic genes, including string (stg, human CDC25A), Cyclin B (CycB, human CCNB1), Cyclin E (CycE, human CCNE1), and pan gu (png, human NEK11), are detectable overexpressed. Phenotypically, we observe that BADGE induces severe hemocytes over-proliferation in the 3rd instar larvae, but does not cause morphological damage of the larval lymph gland and blood circulation. In conclusion, we provide evidence to show the carcinogenic potential of BADGE and raise the concern of better understanding of xenobiotics.
