  • Malmbanan Diaries
  • 2010
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This booklet is a report for a case study visit during four day field trip, a group of nine PhD students and their supervisors – all part of the National Research School for Architecture and Planning in the Urban Landscape, APULA – set out to explore what may be considered the outback of Western Europe’s conurbations, the transnational region of Kiruna -Narvik.Both “remote” and “resourceful”, “threatened” and “thriving” (equally relative notions), this region seemed to offer possibilities to reflect upon many of the current tendencies influencing contemporary planning practice and research.

  • The Pharyngoesophageal Segment after Total Laryngectomy
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology. - : SAGE Publications. - 0003-4894 .- 1943-572X. ; 126:2, s. 138-145
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Objective: The aim of the present study was to characterize the pharyngoesophageal segment in laryngectomees who rated themselves as functional tracheoesophageal speakers. Methods: Voice perceptual assessment, high-resolution videomanometry of swallowing and phonation, and high-speed camera recording during phonation provided information about the anatomy and function of the pharyngoesophageal segment. Results: Fourteen patients were included in the study. The voice assessments presented high intra/inter-listener reliability. We found a significant correlation between roughness and poor voice quality, hyperfunction and poor intelligibility, and poor voice quality, long time since the operation, and old age. High-resolution videomanometry during phonation revealed decreasing mean pressures from the distal esophagus to the pharynx and confirmed low resting pressures at the pharyngoesophageal segment and low esophageal peristaltic contraction pressures after laryngectomy in comparison to normal subjects. The neoglottis shape was mainly circular and presented a strong mucosal wave in most of the patients on the high-speed camera recording. Conclusions: Perceptual voice assessment and high-speed camera recordings provided baseline information about voice characteristics and vibration regularity of the neoglottis. Additionally, the quantitative measures obtained with high-resolution videomanometry may have clinical applicability as reference data in voice rehabilitation after total laryngectomy.

  • Treatment of cricopharyngeal dysfunction: a comparative pilot study.
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: BMC Research Notes. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1756-0500. ; 8
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Cricopharyngeal dysfunction is a narrowing at the level of the upper oesophageal sphincter caused by failed or incomplete sphincter opening as a result of lack of pharyngoesophageal coordination or reduction in the muscular compliance of the upper oesophageal sphincter. Oropharyngeal dysphagia is a typical symptom. Videomanometry allows direct comparison of pressure readings with dynamic anatomy during swallowing.

  • Social and moral psychology of COVID-19 across 69 countries
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Scientific Data. - : NATURE PORTFOLIO. - 2052-4463. ; 10:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all domains of human life, including the economic and social fabric of societies. One of the central strategies for managing public health throughout the pandemic has been through persuasive messaging and collective behaviour change. To help scholars better understand the social and moral psychology behind public health behaviour, we present a dataset comprising of 51,404 individuals from 69 countries. This dataset was collected for the International Collaboration on Social & Moral Psychology of COVID-19 project (ICSMP COVID-19). This social science survey invited participants around the world to complete a series of moral and psychological measures and public health attitudes about COVID-19 during an early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic (between April and June 2020). The survey included seven broad categories of questions: COVID-19 beliefs and compliance behaviours; identity and social attitudes; ideology; health and well-being; moral beliefs and motivation; personality traits; and demographic variables. We report both raw and cleaned data, along with all survey materials, data visualisations, and psychometric evaluations of key variables.

  • Requirements and specification of bioinformatics use cases
  • 2005
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • This deliverable specifies use cases based on bioinformatics research carried out by members ofA2. The use cases involve the use of rules to reason over ontologies and pathways (Dresden,Edinburgh, Paris, Linköping) and rules to specify workflows to integrate bioinformatics data (Lisbon, Skövde, Jena, Bucharest). The use cases are designed as a reference point to foster the take up of A2 use cases by I-work packages. Most notably, many of the use cases specify the need for querying and reactivity with languages like Xcerpt (I4), Erus (I5) and Prova (I5). The use cases range from basic research applications to fully deployed software with an international user base.

  • Usage of bioinformatics tools and identification of information sources
  • 2005
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Bioinformatics is an important application area for semantic web technologies as much of the data is online and accessible in XML format, as some sites already support web services, and as ontologies are widely used to annotate data. In this deliverable, we give a survey over 18 of the most important bioinformatics resources and discuss their availability and accessibility, which are two of the main criteria for these resources to act as bases for later demonstrators.

  • A Robot Playing Scrabble Using Visual Feedback
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: IFAC Proceedings Volumes. ; 33:27, s. 551-556
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Today most industrial robot systems use dedicated and rather limited sensors, and available control systems provide limited support for feedback control. Aiming towards more autonomous robot systems, we want to improve flexibility. The game Scrabble is used as a test problem capturing these aspects. Our approach is to incorporate visual servoing and a conventional powerful off-line prograrnrning (OLP) system into the real-time control system, providing task specification and visual debugging. We use the OLP tool Envision from Deneb and an ABB robot with reconfigured control system, where the control system has an Open Robot Control architecture (ORC). The vision system is connected to a host computer and the camera is attached to the robot gripper. By extending the control system, we have designed and implemented both the vision system and the application for the Scrabble game. Our system implementation shows that ORC constitutes a necessary support for incorporation of real-time visual feedback and that OLP may effectively be used with real-time feedback of sensor data.
