  • Joint source-channel and multiuser decoding for Rayleigh fading CDMA Channels
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Communications. - : IEEE Communications Society. - 0090-6778 .- 1558-0857. ; 48:1, s. 13-16
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We consider joint source-channel and multiuser decoding for frequency-selective Rayleigh fading code-division multiple-access channels. The block source-channel encoder is defined by a vector quantizer, We investigate optimal (minimum mean-square error) decoding and user-separated decoding of lower complexity, The studied decoders are soft in the sense that they utilize all soft information available at the receiver. Simulations indicate significant performance gains of the introduced decoders compared with a tandem approach that uses maximum-likelihood multiuser detection plus table-lookup decoding.

  • Quantifying the extended energy efficiency gap : - evidence from Swedish electricity-intensive industries
  • 2015
  • Ingår i: Renewable & sustainable energy reviews. - : Elsevier. - 1364-0321 .- 1879-0690. ; 51, s. 472-483
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Energy efficiency is one of the major means of reducing CO2 emissions resulting from industrial use of energy. Both from a societal as well as business perspective it is of great importance to reduce industrial energy end use (EEU). The implementation of energy-efficient technologies as well as increased focus on energy management practices has been stated by previous research to be the two most important methods of improved industrial energy efficiency. To date, however, there are few (if any) studies that have analyzed the proportion of industrial energy savings that derive from implementation of new technology versus from continuous energy management practices. By analyzing substantial data from the Swedish PFE program this paper aims to quantify what previously has been referred to as the extended energy efficiency gap. Results show that about 61% of the analyzed 1254 energy efficiency measures are derived from the implementation of new technology, and the rest stems from management and operational measures. The results presented in this paper are of outmost importance for industrial energy managers and energy auditors as well as industrial associations and policy-makers in order to cost-effectively address these no-regret measures.

  • Marknadsföring och distribution : strategiska vägval avseende marknadskanaler
  • 2013. - 1

  • Collaborative development of resource efficient district heating in Sweden
  • 2013
  • Licentiatavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • An increased recovery of excess heat from industrial processes and thermal power generation could significantly reduce energy demands. Industrial excess heat-based district heating systems are generally considered resource efficient because they reduce the use of fossil fuels and the emissions of greenhouse gases. In addition, collaborating actors can gain financial benefits. In Sweden, although collaboration around heat supply has increased recently, the amount of excess heat that is utilized is low compared to the amount created by industrial processes. Using excess-heat recovery in district heating grids is currently one of the most cost-effective ways of providing additional heat to district heating systems.Expansion and new construction of district heating systems in new residential areas can be seen as an opportunity to further use industrial excess heat. Sweden’s local authorities can influence the development of energy systems used for new residential developments. Increased knowledge about how collaborations evolve could be used to develop strategies that could encourage the development of excess heat-based systems for district heating. This licentiate thesis examines the role of organisational collaboration when it comes to the emergence of resource efficient district heating. The thesis summarises results from three articles and investigates the preconditions for, drivers behind, and barriers to the development of excess heat-based systems for district heating in Sweden. These investigations focus on both the district heating companies’ and industries’ points of view. The thesis also discusses how Swedish spatial planning practice could improve the conditions for resource efficient district heating.Important preconditions for excess-heat collaborations to develop, from the actors’ points of view, are mainly financial. However, relationships based on trust, honesty, shared goals, information transfer, and joint problem solving are also necessary for such collaborations to evolve and develop into long-term successful excess-heat collaborations. These features are also important when it comes to the decision-making process, because knowledge gained through the participation of stakeholders is required to understand common goals and objectives and to put these into practice. As for the development of new excess heat-based district heating systems, results show that the district heating companies generally participate late in the spatial planning process. An earlier dialogue between local authority planners and district heating companies could facilitate the emergence and development of new excess heat-based district heating systems. Furthermore, to facilitate the use of excess heat-based systems, planning should also take into account any nearby industry that produces excess heat. In addition, investment subsidies could encourage the development of excess heat-based systems for district heating and provide long-term environmental benefits for collaborating actors as well as for society at large.

  • Porous and dense perovskite films
  • 2007
  • Ingår i: Nanostructured Materials and Nanotechnology, Vol 28. ; , s. 153-163
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Lao.5Sro.5Co03 (LSCO) and La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (LCMO) films were prepared by sol-gel techniques and their structural and transport properties investigated. Films were spin-coated onto (001) LaAlO3 (LAO), (001) SrTiO3 (STO), Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si, and Al2O3 substrates, and ictural properties were investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM). SEM studies showed that the films were crack-free and adhered well to the substrates. No preferential orientation of the pervoskite films was observed on Si- or Pt/TiCVSiCVSi-substrates, but films deposited on LAO and STO showed good alignment with the substrate. Transport measurements of epitaxial LCMO films show maximum temperature coefficient of resisth (TCR) of 6.1 % K1 aät 241 K and colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) of 32 % a at 246 K. The conductivity of around l .9 mQcm.

  • Photothermal CVD of Carbon Thin Films using CH2I2 as the Precursor
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Chemical Vapor Deposition. - : Wiley. - 0948-1907 .- 1521-3862. ; 14:9-10, s. 279-285
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Thin carbon films are deposited via CVD from the precursor methylene iodide (CH2I2) using two different activation sources; a broadband IR lamp and a thermal plate. Large differences in deposition rates are observed when comparing the two sources of activation. The characteristics of the deposition kinetics of the highly sensitive system are also investigated by employing a split, symmetric reactor, and by using a qualitative model. Raman spectroscopy (RS) is used for microstructural characterization of the films. The lamp technique allows a simple and low-cost experimental setup, for deposition of disordered carbon thin films at relatively low temperatures and high rates.
