Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- To mitigate the limitation of the traditional hypothesis that the lifetimes of the individuals obey the independent identically distribution, the semi-parametric shared frailty model based on the developmental proportional hazards model with frailty was constructed, which can reflect the influence caused by the random effect . In this model, the baseline hazard was supposed to be piecewise constant hazard. Then the MCMC method based on Gibbs sampling to simulate dynamically the Markov Chain of the parameters’ posterior distribution was brought forward. By that the parameters’ Bayesian estimations under the condition of the random truncated test and the prior distribution of the frailty belongs to the Gamma distribution were given out. Also the martingale process of the baseline hazard was introduced , as well as the precision of the numeration was improved. What’s more, an application of these techniques was illustrated by an example.

The application of vegetation structure information in biotope mapping models towards urban biodiversity

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- Former models of biotope mapping have not taken enough information about temporal and spatial vegetation structure into consideration. It is shown in a number of studies that vegetation structure has an impact on aspects of biodiversity. The purpose of this study is thus to design a modified urban biotope mapping model that includes temporal and spatial vegetation structure in order to obtain more information concerning urban biodiversity. A refined model was developed based on a biotope classification, and applied to a green structure system in Helsingborg in southern Sweden. It includes four parameters of vegetation structure: continuity of vegetation cover, age of dominant trees, horizontal structure, and vertical structure. The major green structure sites were determined by interpretation of panchromatic aerial photographs assisted with a field survey. A set of biotope maps was constructed on the basis of each level of modified classification. By means of identifying continuity of woodland using ancient woodland indicator species (AWIS), and distribution of animals in the green space in relation to vegetation structure, the results indicate that some biotopes with a number of AWI species are long-continuity woodlands with high or potentially high biodiversity value, and that the spatial vegetation structure and age of stands influence the richness and abundance of the avian fauna and rabbits. It is concluded that the modified biotope mapping involving both temporal and spatial vegetation structures is an important methodology when investigating.

Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
- Várdduo – The Centre for Sami Research was established in the year 2000 under the Faculty of Arts. Umeå University has expanded its Indigenous research area, from Sami languages and culture at the beginning (1975), to four areas today: Education and Language, Health and Living Conditions, Land and Water, Culture and History. This essay introduces the development of indigenous-related research at Umeå University with a focus on the research from Várdduo in the past 20 years. Today Várdduo serves as a hub for active expansion of research related to Indigenous issues at Umeå university to local, national and international arenas. Indigenous research at Umeå University/Várdduo, although still mainly on Sámi issues, has experienced a development characterized by fast growth, diversity, interdisciplinarity and increasing international commitment

- The penicillinase thermistor biosensor(Penicillinase sensor) was developed for the rapid monitoring of blood penem antibiotics concentration and rapid identification of extraneous penicillinase in milk on site. However, the wide application of the penicillinase thermistor biosensor was limited due to its intrinsic poor activity to hydrolyze cephem and carbapenem antibiotics. The recently identified carbapenemase New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase 1(NDM-1) is able to hydrolyze all commercially available β-lactam antibiotics in high efficacy. We coupled the NDM-1 and the enzymatic thermistor biosensor to develop a NDM-1 thermistor biosensor(NDM-1 sensor) by the installment of the enzymatic thermistor with an enzyme column loaded with NDM-1 conjugated CPG beads. The NDM-1 sensor shows high response activity to Piperacillin(PIP),Ceftriaxone(CTRX), and Meropenem(MEM), and the response activity of the NDM-1 sensor to these three β-lactam antibiotics are all Zn2+ dependent. Moreover, the response activity of the NDM-1 sensor to Penicillin G(P), PIP, Cefazolin(CZO), CTRX, Cefepime(FEP) and MEM all linearly correlated with antibiotic concentration from 31.25 to 1 000 mg/L.Within pH from 6.0 to 8.0, the optimal response activity of the NDM-1 sensor to P,PIP, CZO, CTRX and FEP are found at pH 6.5, while the optimal response activity of the NDM-1 sensor to MEM is found at pH8.0.These data indicate that the featured activity of NDM-1 was well maintained after conjugation on CPG beads, and NDM-1 sensor is capable to quantitate three classes of β-lactam antibiotics including penem, cephem and carbapenem within a wide concentration range.
