- The police turn to social media to disseminate information, enforce laws, or involve people in crime investigation. This paper’s goal is to explore the police’s use of Instagram based on a comparative study of Instagram accounts of official police in selected socially deprived and non-deprived neighborhoods from a social justice perspective. Using digital trace data and interpretive findings, we seek to develop new insights and theories in the light of social justice. Our work aims to contribute to literature on digital technologies and social justice and thus to building a more inclusive, sustainable society.

- This paper is a short communication introducing a novel method forstakeholder analysis, Change Agent Infrastructure (CHAI). The method isspecifically developed in the context of ergonomics/work environment-relatedchange projects and is meant for early stages of change projects. It mapspotential stakeholders against eight distinct “roles” that have been found inprevious research to facilitate or hinder workplace change. Mapping the“decision dilemmas” that stakeholders may face, as well as identifying over- orunderrepresented roles, may benefit the change project in terms of determininginformation needs and how the project team should be staffed. The method hasbeen iteratively developed and tested in educational and research projects. Themethod is visual, participative and helps to clarify the various participants’understanding of the change at hand and what it means for them – thiscontributes positively to information strategies and decisions that facilitates theplanning and execution of a sustainable change.

- The European Union (EU) has made it an explicit objective to "foster" development and gender equality in countries around the world through its external policies. The EU as a so-called "normative power" has been extensively covered in academic literature. However, scant attention has been devoted to the EU's attempts to promote gender equality - and even less attention devoted towards understanding how this is perceived by other countries around the globe. This project therefore draws attention towards how Malaysian policy makers and civil society actors percieve the EU as a "normative power" - and how they perceive and respond the EU's attempts to "foster gender-equality" in Malaysia.

Breaking the silence : Voicing teachers’ exposure to identity-based exclusionary processes at workplace

- The study explores thirty compulsory schoolteachers’ experiences of exposure to exclusionary behaviour and comments by fellow colleagues, students, or their legal guardians at the workplace. Using analytic terms exclusionary processes and intersectionality, and by interviewing teachers who have experienced exclusion due to norms concerning gender, sexuality, ethnicity, race, and religion, I will answer following research questions: How do teachers experience exclusion and how does it affect them? What makes exclusion at workplace possible and how can one act on it? Of particular interest is subtle exclusion, as it is hard to detect and has been neglected be professionals and Swedish researchers, despite the evidence of high rate of occurrence and negative psychological, social, and professional consequences. Theoretical inspiration comes from research on intersectionality and microaggressions in the workplace. The study is based on interviews with teachers, who have volunteered to talk about their own experiences of exclusionary processes. The interviewees, working in different educational settings, define, describe, and are asked to problematize and contextualize exclusionary processes that affect them. The study shows that the interviewees are subjected to exclusionary processes because they do not occupy normative position in the local context. Gender-based exclusionary processes are often interdependent of several identity-based power differentials that may or may not operate simultaneously (for example age, gender, ethnicity and educational background or whiteness norms, religion, and gender may intersect each other, reinforcing or weakening different power axes). Additionally, the interviewed teachers express that there is a lack of institutional support for change, highlighting the importance of developing analytical tools to understand and eventually tackle subtle exercises of exclusionary power. Nowhere in the analyzed empirical material has there been talk of attempts at collective action where the teachers join or themselves organize social movements and act collectively, even though, according to Bonilla-Silva (2018), these forms of resistance make the largest impact in terms of changing social structures of exclusion. The lack of collective action and institutional support highlights the need for a paradigm shift.

- International migration is one of the burning global challenges for sustainable development. Environmental migration is a contested concept since destruction of livelihood conditions that leads to the deterioration of options for securing a living, is caused by a number of interacting variables such as changes in climate, land use, local and regional ecological conditions, socio-cultural-economic and political dynamics. The different factors act at different temporal and spatial scales that makes the outcome difficult to generalize for a specific site, which adds to the confusion of the interpretation and application of the concept. Yet migration due to livelihood deterioration is ongoing and environmental migrants seem to be an increasing challenge. This is also acknowledged by the EU, whose governance system related to migration does not cater for the environmental dimension. In spite of much of environmentally induced migration to the EU originates from Africa, this topic has not until recently been up on the agenda of policy discussions between the EU and Africa. The Valletta Summit on Migration, November 2015, was organised to discuss the ‘migration crisis’ experienced in Europe and Africa. The summit resulted in the EU setting up an Emergency Trust Fund to promote development in Africa, in return for African countries to help out in the crisis. We are reporting from a project on the complex interactions of different drivers acting on the local African livelihoods and thus driving migration. The aim is inform the development of sustainable governance mechanisms at different institutional levels in the EU-Africa relations.
