  • PCP (Provider – Customer – Product) Triangle : How Can Manufacturing Intelligence be Maintained?
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Procedia CIRP. - : Elsevier. - 2212-8271. ; , s. 362-367
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Limited insight is available regarding the benefits of an Integrated Product Service Offering (IPSO) as a possibility to encapsulate a technology. This paper applies a framework termed the PCP (Provider – Customer – Product) Triangle to two cases. The PCP Triangle aims to identify benefits (including technology encapsulation) and risks of IPSOs in a systematic manner. In one case, a technology is the core of the offering and IPSO is an alternative as a business model. The other case concerns biogas production, where know-how to control the production is one of the key assets of the provider to add value. By doing so, it validates the PCP Triangle further with cases and explains how it can be used. The results show that the PCP Triangle is a simple but effective tool to describe and visualize the flow of information around the product by discussing strategies for keeping the firm’s intelligence in manufacturing. The paper also discusses the IPSO’s contribution to environmental performance.

  • A comparison of tradition geometrical models and mass triangle model in calculation the surface tensions of ternary sulphide melts
  • 2008
  • Ingår i: Calphad. - : Elsevier BV. - 0364-5916 .- 1873-2984. ; 32:1, s. 49-55
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Surface tension of the Ni3S2-FeS-Cu2S ternary mattes has been calculated using a mass triangle model as well as six traditional geometrical models based on the same calculation data to investigate the difference between mass triangle model and other kinds of geometrical models. From the calculated results, it might be seen that, the mass triangle model, irrespective of the method of selection of the binary data, would give the best results compared with other traditional geometrical models. The mean square root errors of the mass triangle method only range from 1.09% to 2.8%, which are almost within the experimental error of 2.5%.

  • Strongly Coupled Performance Prediction for Sailing Yachts based on CFD
  • 2016
  • Licentiatavhandling (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Quantifying performance of sailing yachts can be done in many different ways. Historically the most common way is a static approach where a steady state solution is obtained by solving equilibrium equations in 3 or 4 degrees of freedom. More recently, dynamic methods have appeared. In this thesis a method of the latter kind in proposed. The possibility of accurately quantifying performance makes a tool suitable for evaluating changes in design or sailing technique. Motivation for developing such a tool would be the ability to produce a good yacht directly from the drawing board or finding optimum placement of center of gravity. The most challenging aspect of the yacht performance problem is the strong coupling of resultant forces to attitude and speed. As these eects are highly non-linear an accurate method to compute the acting forces is required. In the present project the instantaneous hydrodynamic forces are obtained using Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD, and the  flow solution is integrated in time together with the rigid body motions. The aerodynamic forces are still modelled, which makes the computation faster and is an advantage if the interest is in optimizing the hull. The emphasis of this study is to report the procedures and setups used in order to make the method as accessible as possible. The outcome is the predicted velocity and attitude of a dinghy and a keel-boat for a different wind speeds and directions. The emphasis in terms of results is on finding maximum VMG upwind and downwind. Predicting performance in this way inherently gives the attitude, linear and rotational speeds and complete  flow field around the yacht. Using these secondary results an investigation of assumptions within classical sailing mechanics is performed. The investigated topics are: center of lateral resistance, sideforce distribution and keel downwash.

  • TVis : A Light-weight Traffic Visualization System for DDoS Detection
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: The Proceedings. - : IEEE. - 9781728156316
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • With rapid growth of network size and complexity, network defenders are facing more challenges in protecting networked computers and other devices from acute attacks. Traffic visualization is an essential element in an anomaly detection system for visual observations and detection of distributed DoS attacks. This paper presents an interactive visualization system called TVis, proposed to detect both low-rate and highrate DDoS attacks using Heron’s triangle-area mapping. TVis allows network defenders to identify and investigate anomalies in internal and external network traffic at both online and offline modes. We model the network traffic as an undirected graph and compute triangle-area map based on incidences at each vertex for each 5 seconds time window. The system triggers an alarm iff the system finds an area of the mapped triangle beyond the dynamic threshold. TVis performs well for both low-rate and high-rate DDoS detection in comparison to its competitors.

  • Post-quantum nonlocality in the minimal triangle scenario
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: New Journal of Physics. - 1367-2630. ; 11:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We investigate network nonlocality in the triangle scenario when all three parties have no input and binary outputs. Through an explicit example, we prove that this minimal scenario supports nonlocal correlations compatible with no-signaling and independence of the three sources, but not with realisations based on independent quantum or classical sources. This nonlocality is robust to noise. Moreover, we identify the equivalent to a Popescu-Rohrlich box in the minimal triangle scenario.

  • Construction of Bounding Volume Hierarchies for Triangle Meshes with Mixed Face Sizes
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Proceedings - IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation. - 1050-4729. ; , s. 9191-9195
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We consider the problem of creating tighter-fitting bounding volumes (more specifically rectangular swept spheres) when constructing bounding volume hierarchies (BVHs) for complex 3D geometries given in the form of unstructured triangle meshes/soups with the aim of speeding up our IPS Path Planner for rigid bodies, where the triangles often have very different sizes. Currently, the underlying collision and distance computation module (IPS CDC) does not take into account the sizes of the triangles when it constructs BVHs using a top-down strategy. To split triangles in a BVH node into two BVH nodes, IPS CDC has to compute both the split axis and the split position. In this work, we use the principal axes of the tensor of inertia as the potential split axes and the center of mass as the split position, where the computations of both the tensor of inertia and the center of mass require knowledge of the areas of the triangles. We show that our method improves performance (up to 20 % faster) of our IPS Path Planner when it is used to plan collision-free disassembly paths for three different test cases taken from manufacturing industries.

  • Improved triangle splitting based bi-objective optimization for community integrated energy systems with correlated uncertainties
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Sustainable Energy Technologies and Assessments. - : Elsevier Ltd. - 2213-1388 .- 2213-1396. ; 49
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Economic and environmental benefits are the most important in the operation of community integrated energy systems (CIES), modeled as a bi-objective optimization problem. In the case of the uncertainties from loads and renewable energy generators, the effectiveness of the operation strategies may be degraded in the practical applications of CIES. In this paper, an improved triangle splitting based bi-objective optimization method is proposed to search for the Pareto optimal solution of the CIES operation. The general preference of decision-makers in practical applications is utilized in the search process to reduce the detailed search interval and consequently improve the optimization efficiency. In addition, a bi-objective uncertain optimization framework is established for the economic-environmental operation of the CIES under uncertainties. The correlation between uncertainties is considered to generate the operation scenarios, in which the solution probability function is employed to determine the final operation strategy with robustness. A comprehensive case study is conducted based on a practical CIES in China, proving the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed methods.

  • Predictive accuracy of wall-modelled large-eddy simulation on unstructured grids
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Computers and Fluids. - : Elsevier BV. - 0045-7930 .- 1879-0747. ; 221
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The predictive accuracy of wall-modelled LES is influenced by a combination of the subgrid model, the wall model, the numerical dissipation induced primarily by the convective numerical scheme, and also by the density and topology of the computational grid. The latter factor is of particular importance for industrial flow problems, where unstructured grids are typically employed due to the necessity to handle complex geometries. Here, a systematic simulation-based study is presented, investigating the effect of grid-cell type on the predictive accuracy of wall-modelled LES in the framework of a general-purpose finite-volume solver. Following standard practice for meshing near-wall regions, it is proposed to use prismatic cells. Three candidate shapes for the base of the prisms are considered: a triangle, a quadrilateral, and an arbitrary polygon. The cell-centre distance is proposed as a metric to determine the spatial resolution of grids with different cell types. The simulation campaign covers two test cases with attached boundary layers: fully-developed turbulent channel flow, and a zero-pressure-gradient flat-plate turbulent boundary layer. A grid construction strategy is employed, which adapts the grid metric to the outer length scale of the boundary layer. The results are compared with DNS data concerning mean wall shear stress and profiles of flow statistics. The principle outcome is that unstructured simulations may provide the same accuracy as simulations on structured orthogonal hexahedral grids. The choice of base shape of the near-wall cells has a significant impact on the computational cost, but in terms of accuracy appears to be a factor of secondary importance.

  • An ultra-low power multi-tunable triangle wave generator with frequency and amplitude control
  • 2010
  • Ingår i: ; , s. 236-239
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    •  ultra-low power adjustable triangle wave generator with a multi tunable amplitude and frequency is introduced in this paper. The proposed circuit consists of a Schmitt trigger and a current source. The overall nonlinearity of the TWG circuit is less than 2% in its current-to-frequency transfer characteristic. The tunable frequency and amplitude range are 10KHz to 40KHz and 0.1V-1.7V respectively. The topology is suitable for VLSI realization and can be used in the WINeR system.
