- Svenska barn har det generellt sett mycket bra. Ändå vet vi att en del individer drabbas av större sårbarhet och sämre utveckling. Går det att identifiera vilka faktorer under barns och ungdomars uppväxt det är som verkar uppbyggande repktive nedbrytande? Vilken betydelse har förskolan och skolan? Familjeförhållanden? I denna andra rapport fokuserar författarna på 101 barns utvecklingsgång under hela livsperioden 1-25 år och utvecklingsprocessens betydelse för dem som unga vuxna.

För mig var lidandet och tron i denna stund helt utan mening och enbart fasa! Under Yom HaShoah, Minnesdagen för den obeskrivliga och obegripliga Förintelsen, tänkte jag som alla andra, att detta inte får hända igen. Men hur begripa det som hände?

Vivat vår monark! : Carl Michael Bellmans panegyrik över Gustaf III 1771-1792

- Carl Michael Bellman (1740–1795), who is chiefly associated with wine, song, a wayward poetic style, and little care for politics, wrote laudatory poetry to King Gustavus III (1746–1792) during the period 1771–1792. His royalist poems have been mostly viewed as uncharacteristically pompous and rigid, and neglected in favor of the vivacious song-cycles Fredman’s Epistles and Fredman’s Songs. The focus of this research is to reassess Bellman’s panegyric works, centering on panegyric motifs and rhetorical form, and the poet’s use of encomium (eulogy) in relation to its function in Gustavian literature and society. The first two chapters examine Bellman’s self-image as a poet, and trace the philosophical grounds for literary praise. The following three chapters discuss Bellman’s use of leading panegyric themes and motifs, and his use of rhetorical devices in the Greco-Roman rhetorical tradition. A comparison is made between Bellman’s literary style in his panegyric occasional poems and in his Epistles and Songs, set against the traditional commemorative genres of eulogy and verse epic. His renowned mixed style is also explored. Bellman’s poetic techniques are further studied through a comparison with commemorative medals, shedding light on his use of imagery and attributes, and on the iconographic traditions that influenced his poetry. Additionally, his role as panegyrist in the politically turbulent Gustavian Era is examined. This study posits that Bellman carefully employs the rules of Greco-Roman and French Classicist traditions, yet maintains literary autonomy by blending high-style rhetorical devices with low-style poetic imagery. This technique is similar to that of his other major works, especially the Epistles. Ultimately, Bellman emerges as a poetically and politically astute poet with clear literary ideals and ambitions, partaking in politics by helping to shape the official image of Gustavus III.

- The objective of this dissertation is to audit political opinion making by the Swedish press on the editorial pages by analyzing editorial production conditions and content and the role of the editorial in local democracy. Three main questions are of central interest in this effort: By whom are editorials written and what guides the work of the editorial writers? What is written in editorials? Who reads editorials and what role do editorials play in local democracy? These questions may be said to be linked to a journalistic scholarly ambition to illuminate a trend within the journalistic genre where in the relationship between the press and the party no longer seems to be playing the same role for editorial writers and editorials. If this relationship does not matter any more, or if it fills a completely different function and if so what impact it has on political opinion making in modern democracy are important questions when it comes to the main objective of this study.The scholarly methods used in this dissertation are first and foremost content analysis of editorials and survey studies directed at editorial writers, politicians, journalists and citizens. The editorial texts analyzed were primarily studied through quantitative content analysis. A selection of daily newspapers was made in order to gain a representative sample of various political groupings, various kinds of newspapers, different geographical areas, and various political levels. This material also includes a survey among Swedish editorial writers. The study was carried out in 1993 and included all newspapers published five, six, or seven days a week in Sweden. Eighty-two editorial writers responded to the survey. The third perspective of the analysis was the encounter between editorials and their audiences, so a survey study was included. The study was carried out in 1998 in six Swedish municipalities.The results indicated that the historically important party press ideal has to a great extent played out its role with respect to its former core area as well - political commentary by the press on the editorial pages. Party standpoints are becoming less common in editorials and party loyalty is not in high favor among editorial writers or their sub-audiences. Professional prioritizations in editorial work are also contributing causes of the party press connection having declined in importance. The only counteracting factors are certain lingering traditional and/or institutional ties between the press and the party and, sometimes, political reality. In dramatic political situations - during election campaigns or in connection with crisis response packages - the press still functions as an opinion maker according to the party press pattern. Otherwise, the overall picture is that the party-controlled press has lost significant portions of its original meaning as an anchor bolt of opinion making in the daily press.

- This dissertation examines the relationship between the development of society, the Home and journalism in Sweden during the twentieth century. The purpose of this study is to analyze the representation of the Home in Vår bostad, the magazine of the tenant organizations HSB and Hyresgästernas Riksförbund, at three different points in time. The pictures of the Home in Vår bostad are the point of departure for the dissertation. The aim of the study is to answer two key questions: What significance has the Home been given in society based on the material in Vår bostad, and how has the magazine's photojournalism regarding the Home changed? In order to understand the meaning of the concept of the Home during the 1900's, the metaphor folkhem must be considered. The years selected for the study of Vår bostad, 1937, 1955 and 1987, capture the establishment and criticism of the folkhem and are suitable to describe an important part of Swedish press history. A context-oriented analysis is applied throughout the study. The two main contexts are 1) the development of society and the Home and, 2) the growing journalistic institution. The theoretical perspectives are adapted from recent picture theory, historical and sociological theories of the journalistic institution, theories of private and public spheres, and the Home is viewed as a particular subject of discourse. In 1937 the Home was a symbol for the future ideal society. By 1955, that role began to disappear and instead the Home was to be integrated into the existing society. In 1987, the Home and society were no longer seen as an obvious unit, instead the Home had to a large extent become an individual project. In 1937, it is only to a slight degree the journalistic method of working that forms the portrayal of the Home. An important difference is that in 1955 the journalistic control over the magazine's content is significant. Rules and routines for editing have become clearer. In 1987, journalists and other media specialists are largely responsible for the representation of the Home. The pictures of the Home during the three years of analysis clearly indicate three different ideal readers: the egalitarian reader of 1937, the participant reader of 1955, and the reader as consumer in 1987.
