  • Universeum Science Center - Health Exhibition Project
  • 2015
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Universeum is located in the heart of Gothenburg and is Scandinavia's largest science centre. Universeum science center is a place where play leads to knowledge. The science centre has over 500.000 visitors per year. Here animals and nature mix with new technology and exciting experiments. The health exhibition at Universeum has several different stations with physical challenges. Among other things, you can test the speed of your feet, test your balance on a slackline and challenge your friends in a test of endurance (see this link for additional information: https://www.universeum.se)

  • Laboratoriet för hälsa och prestationsutveckling (Center for Health and Performance).
  • 2009
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Summary: This document was used as a printed matter and as a vision document during the establishment phase of building Idrottshögskolan, which includes the Center for Health and Performance (KHP) at the University of Gothenburg. The printed matter was mainly developed during 2008. The goal of this printed matter was to inform and to create interest among potential stakeholders within academies, organizations, companies, and the public (mainly in Gothenburg and in West Sweden). This printed matter was presented by Jacob Lindh to Vice Chancellor Pam Fredman and to the leaders at the University of Gothenburg in 2009. This printed matter was also used during the celebrations of the building’s start (cutting the first sod) in 2009.

  • An electroencephalography-based approach to evaluate movement-related anxiety in physically-active persons
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Psychological consequences often persist following musculoskeletal trauma and can result in vastly decreased quality of life. Re-injury anxiety is reported to hinder return to sports and can itself be a precursor for secondary injuries. Existing assessments of re-injury anxiety are restricted to subjective questionnaires, which may result in under-reporting and thus poorer injury management. In the current study, we introduced an experimental approach to objectively quantify movement-related anxiety using a threat-conditioning paradigm. We aimed to explore the feasibility of such an approach among non-injured persons.Ten physically-active individuals stood blindfolded on a platform capable of generating high-acceleration translations in eight different directions. Consecutive auditory stimuli were presented (four-second intervals), as either high- (conditioned stimulus; CS+) or low- (neutral stimulus; CS–) tones. Half of the CS+ trials were followed by a perturbation in a pseudo-random order. Event-related potentials were computed for nine electrodes by averaging 100 X CS– and 100 X CS+ trials. Significant latencies for CS– – CS+ comparisons were identified using interval-wise testing. Mean-amplitudes for significant intervals were used to detect a channel effect.Large negative CS+ waveforms were observed from 302-627ms post-stimulus and continuing until the end of the trials, most prominently over frontal and central midline locations (p ≤ 0.025). This effect, inferred as a contingent negative variation wave (CNV), may be reflective of threat-induced arousal response. Our test paradigm was found to be feasible, with a CNV suggested as a potential biomarker for re-injury anxiety. Further validation is needed, as well as exploring the discriminative power of such an approach between individuals with and without previous injury.

  • Gendered expectations and structural conditions in ice hockey
  • Annan publikation (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Using player questionnaires (72 women, 42 men) and club staff interviews, this paper provides an analysis of the effect of structural conditions on expectations of support and hindrance. In spite of large structural conditions women and men rated similar levels of support and hindrance. Yet, both women and men believed that the situation in sport was better for men. The adult women’s lower expectations may be an indication of their awareness of their lower status within their sport. When comparisons are made between women and men in sport it is important to consider that gender operates at different levels and may affect conditions as well as expectations
